International Day of Older Persons

If you are looking for my {PIN}Spirational Challenge Post, please scroll down.

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! This is the fourth anniversary of the first post by our group and it has been a great three years!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Jeanette is the founder of the group--and no, that does not mean she is really old.  She also decided on the theme for this month
and here is her challenge for the group.

Jeanette posted--If you’ve ever been any of the swap threads that I participate in, you know that I like holidays, normal ones, weird one, funny ones. EVERY day is worth a celebration. So, for this month’s Calendar Girl challenge, I want you to select a holiday that is CLOSE TO your own birthday and make a card for that holiday.

Here are the “holidays” that are noted for my birthday, October 1st:  Balloons Around The World Day, CD Player Day, Fire Pup Day, International Day of Older Persons, International Music Day, Model T Day, National Lace Day, World Vegetarian Day.  Also, the week of October 1-7 is Walk Your Dog Week.

So—I am sure that any of you who know Jeanette would understand why I picked  “International Day of Older Persons” holiday.  Why would I want to disappoint Jeanette on her month of hosting?!  It is clearly a holiday that needs to be observed for her, I mean, in "OUR" honor!  This is said by the woman who is "known as older than dirt"!

Here is the inside of my card:

This sentiment just makes me hoot--and reminds me of a few of the Calendar Girls who came for a visit last April.  I am not sure we will be able to do it again this year--but look out 2015!  I am hoping we can get together then and hopefully add a few other GC to the gathering!

Happy Birthday

Last Friday, I hosted a Stampin' Up party at my demo Sarah's studio.  We had a blast and Sarah had some sweet projects for us to make.  The ladies that came were a part of a hostess club a few years ago with another demo who is not longer hosting events--so it was wonderful to see everyone again.  Yes, we did have a few laughs!  We also had an optional swap and this is the card that I made.  Thanks ladies for a wonderful evening.........

I am so loving this style of card and how it showcases the designer paper.

Mystery Revealed ~ Dino-Mite!

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our second cycle.   Kate is the hostess this month and she chose a cute Stampin' Up image.   Kate will swap the cards--then send us the next image,  which Mae is going to sent to her.  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same image. Then everyone gets to do it all over again!

I am not sure what this fold is called--but I received a card recently made this way.  So--I got out my ruler and measured all of the parts and the folds.  I really like it!

Here are two more pictures with the two flaps opened:

I left the inside of the card blank so the recipients can add whatever they want.  I hope everyone who gets my card likes my card!

30 & 30 = Happy 60th!

This card is for my best bud Claudia's 60th birthday, which was on Tuesday.  We are having supper with her tonight, so it is not late..................  I love this retired Stampin' Up set--Over the Hill. However, it does not have a number 60.  So, since I was a teacher in the past, though not in the math area, I knew that 30 and 30 does still make 60!

Angels Among Us

It is the 15thof the month and that means we get to show off another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostesses for January are Carol for the Divas and Melina for the Dazzlers.
The theme that Carol and Melina decided on for our challenge is Angels!  Or, as Carol stated......"Angels Among Us".  Carol wrote the following:
Whenever I think of Angels, I think of peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery/flower gardens, so that is the trip I took.

Carol send us two images--the sweet one that I used and the other one that you might see on some of the other Diva blogs.

I really wanted to use the string of pearls and are very cute on the card.  They really are straight, though the picture does not reflect that.

Here is the inside of my card.

I really loved all of the sweet papers and embellishments that were in the kit.  I thought of Carol when I used the glittery paper--she is the Glitter Queen.... I mean Angel!

Thanks Carol for a great theme and a wonderful kit to play with this month.
