International Day of Older Persons

If you are looking for my {PIN}Spirational Challenge Post, please scroll down.

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! This is the fourth anniversary of the first post by our group and it has been a great three years!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Jeanette is the founder of the group--and no, that does not mean she is really old.  She also decided on the theme for this month
and here is her challenge for the group.

Jeanette posted--If you’ve ever been any of the swap threads that I participate in, you know that I like holidays, normal ones, weird one, funny ones. EVERY day is worth a celebration. So, for this month’s Calendar Girl challenge, I want you to select a holiday that is CLOSE TO your own birthday and make a card for that holiday.

Here are the “holidays” that are noted for my birthday, October 1st:  Balloons Around The World Day, CD Player Day, Fire Pup Day, International Day of Older Persons, International Music Day, Model T Day, National Lace Day, World Vegetarian Day.  Also, the week of October 1-7 is Walk Your Dog Week.

So—I am sure that any of you who know Jeanette would understand why I picked  “International Day of Older Persons” holiday.  Why would I want to disappoint Jeanette on her month of hosting?!  It is clearly a holiday that needs to be observed for her, I mean, in "OUR" honor!  This is said by the woman who is "known as older than dirt"!

Here is the inside of my card:

This sentiment just makes me hoot--and reminds me of a few of the Calendar Girls who came for a visit last April.  I am not sure we will be able to do it again this year--but look out 2015!  I am hoping we can get together then and hopefully add a few other GC to the gathering!

Cardstock—Stampin' Up Raspberry Ripple, Basic Black, Old Olive, Whisper White and Creative Imaginations Wine Patterned Paper

Oh Barb... I just KNEW that was the holiday you would choose. Tee Hee! It is so fitting for YOU! Not that I would know anything about being old, you understand. ;)

You know that you had a great one this round...how could you not?! The image fits that die cut just perfect.

The sentiment reminds me of our friend who is in 'I need glasses denial' and has 5693 pairs of dollar store readers. I told him he is going to go blind from using such cruddy glasses! I even tried telling him they looked like chick glasses. They are peppered everywhere!!! LOL

Great job this round!
