SOTC Favorite and Fabulous

Happy Halloween!  I do not have a Halloween card,
but a very special card for you today...................

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Jeanette is our hostess for October and she posted the following:

First, let me tell you with all sincerity, you are some of my favorite people! I want to thank you – my dear Sistahs – for being the fabulous group of women that you are! You are my inspiration in so many ways, but here are just two of the ways…

• Your talent, of course, is unsurpassed. I literally get goose bumps when I see the cards you make! You inspire me creatively. • The way you love me and one another – unconditionally! You inspire me to be a better person, more loving and kind.  I am truly honored to be part of this group!!!

My theme for September/October is inspired by those very thoughts. The theme---Favorite and Fabulous!

Let me explain:
--Favorite = Use one/s of your favorite things on your card. It might be your favorite stamp/image, your favorite embellishment, your favorite color, or any other “favorite” that you choose.
--Fabulous = I know we always use at least two layers and one embellishment, but for this time I want you to do something a little extra to make your cards fabulous. It might be simply adding another layer to your card, using a handmade embellishment, creating your own designerpaper, using a unique fold, or any other “fabulous” feature you choose.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I hope you’ll have a lot of FUN creating!

I love making gate-fold cards and I recently used this Stardream blue shimmer cardstock on another card.  I just love it, so I wanted to highlight it and did not cover any of it up with patterned paper.  If you also visit my blog often, you know I love these Paper Inspirations Sentiments--and use them often. I think this card can be used for many occasions.

Here is my card as it is opened--the button holds the flap in place.

Calendar Girls ~ Black Plus One!

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! We are now well in our fourth year of posting and it has been a blast.  Wonderful Challenges--Great Fun--Sweet Creations--and Awesome Friendships!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  I get to be the hostess this month and this was my challenge:

This month we are going to do a color challenge. Since this card will be posted a few days before Halloween, I challenge you to make a card using just two colors--Black and One Other Color. I also challenge you to try to not use white or ivory as a base for your image. If you do, it does not need to count as your second color--or it can...... Your card does not need to be a Halloween card--it can be for any occasion. Get your thinking caps on and limit your colors to just two!

Then--I also added a bit of clarification............. There was a question about the limit of two colors. Does that mean just the image, or does it include card base, paper, embellishments, etc.?

Yes--it means everything on your card can only be one of two colors--Black and something else. Your image can be stamped or printed on white or ivory if you want and that base does not count as one of the two colors--unless you wanted to go Black and White only. So all of your cardstock and any designer paper and any/all embellishments need to be one of the two colors you choose. Yes, this is thinking out of the box and I am guessing our markers will not be used this month! That is why it is called a "Challenge"!

I knew I wanted to do a Halloween card and I wanted black to be the main color.  I originally stamped and embossed the image on white cardstock, but it was to stark.  So, I tried stamped and embossed on Basic Gray and I liked the look.  So--my two colors are Black and Gray--just like the colors Jeanette posted in the directions I gave her when I sent the challenge.  I did not highlight the colors--she did and I followed her lead!  Yes, I did obey Jeanette........... shhhhhhh--do not tell her!

Here is the inside of my card, still saying with the black and gray colors only!

I hope the other Calendar Girls like my card!  AND--they enjoyed a challenge this month to stay true to two!

With Sympathy

This card is for the monthly swap that Pam hosts on SCS.  Each month we make 10 cards and include a matching envelope.  They can be any theme for any month.  All of the swappers are wonderful and I have receive awesome cards each and every month.  I really like this Whipper Snapper Designs stamp-and I think it makes an elegant, yet simple, sympathy card.

I recently saw a list of Stampin' Up ink colors that can be used with Copic Markers or the SU Blendabilities and not bleed.  I used my Baked Brown Sugar ink to give the image a softer look than my usual Memento Tuxedo Black that is use when I color with markers.  I really like the look and will use some of the other compatible ink colors in the future!

I hope Pam and the others swappers like my card this month!

Bright and Beautiful

This is one of the two cards I made for Debbie's Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog Swap on SCS.  I love so many of the stamp sets in this catty and ordered one last month. I was hostess for our club for October and the order has not come in yet. So--I had to head over to Sarah's to borrow this set to use before mine comes in--hopefully tomorrow when I head over for a stamp class!  I am sure I will get back some great cards in the swap!

The blue background is a shiny cardstock I got a few years ago and I think this is the first card I used it on.  I think it is from Paper Temptress and might be an Incandescent Cardstock.  It is so pretty in real life!

Happy Birthday

I am back again with another card for this weeks Melonheadz Challenge.

http://melonheadzfriends.blogspot.com/

The theme for this challenge is Lots of Layers

It runs from October 13th  to the 26th

I am sure many of you who visit my blog often know that this was not too hard of a challenge for me as layers are a part of all of my cards.  However, the challenge for me was trying to find some patterned paper to go with the great images I picked.  Many of the papers would have made the card too busy with lots of colors and patterns--so I went with an embossing folder instead.  I think the party hats on the background are a close match to the hat on this cutie!

Here is the inside of my card with more layers:

Box of Fluffles Revealed!

This is the card for the 14th round of the Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--that is today!   The images for this round were provided by Lela.    She will swap the cards and include the next image that I will provide.  This is the end of the first round of the swappers that started in February of 2012.  I am the next hostess and we will start all another round--#25 coming up!

The image that Lela sent is really cute.  With it being a cute little package, I decided to use some bright paper to highlight the image!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations today or in the next few days.  I hope Lela and the others in this swap like my card!

Final Carriers of Faith Challenge

I am back with another Carriers of Faith challenge.  Sadly, this will be my last post with this group as we are disbanding after this challenge.  Nothing major has happened to cause this--just too much going on in all of our lives to keep this active. I have truly enjoyed being a part of this awesome group of ladies--they are so creative!  Our final challenge is posed by Shelly and is a great way to end our posting......................

We had a priest come to a prayer group one evening, and he said in confessions the number one comment people make is how they struggle with Forgiveness. I am one who struggles with that as well, so I choose that as my topic for October and our final month together.

"Therefore I tell you, all you ask for in prayer , believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. When you stand to pray, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance, so that your heavenly Father may in turn forgive your transgressions." Mark 11:24-25

So make a card- tell someone you have trouble forgiving that you love them and send it off in the mail to them!

I love Our Daily Bread images and sentiments.  I have two plastic cases which are over filled with stamps from ODB. I knew I would find the perfect sentiment there and I think this fits Shelly's theme!

Here is the inside of my card:

Thanks for joining us this month and for all of our previous challenges.  It has been a great time and I have loved being a part of this wonderful group!

Happy Halloween

This is the card I made for our bi-monthly swap at my local stamp and scrapbook store called Polka Dots, in Mukwonago.  The theme this time around is any occasion.  I am loving making Halloween cards lately, so I kept it up when I made 18 of these babies!  I used a Spica Pen on the spiders to make the glimmer--I am not sure that you can see that in the photo.

Here is the inside of my card:
