Challenge Your Stash

This is my card for the August Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 7th month of de-stashing!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group and the card is due to be posted on the 28th. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Darlene posted our August challenge--Make you own Background--do not use any Designer Series Paper.   I like using embossing folders and I think I have not used this Stampin' Up one yet--so here is Pinewood Plank.   True to "Challenge your Stash", I also inked up a stamp that has not seen the light of day, or ink! I think they are a good combination!

Here is the inside of my card, using Washi tape, not patterned paper!

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards today or in the next day or so.  There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSAUG.  You might see many cards there is you do a search.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For September, Jody is up and I cannot wait to see her challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create!

Christmas CraZy

This is card #4 is for a group that Jeanette started on SCS.  Jeanette is the Queen of Christmas and has way more trees and Christmas decorations in her house that I do---and that is quite an accomplishment!  This group is called Christmas CraZy.  This is a bi-monthly "swap" in which we are paired with someone in the group for those two months.  We are to send a kit to our partner--two identical images and two pieces of patterned paper. We can also send a matching sentiment.  That is it--no embellishments like ribbon, brads, buttons, etc., or additional cardstock--just images and two pieces of Christmas patterned paper.  We are to send the kit to our partner during the odd numbered month--like May.  We then make and post our card on the even month!  Then, next round, we are paired with another person and get to do it all again.

For July and August, we are to send a full kit to our partner.  We send images and patterned paper, but also include embellishments and ribbons or fibers.  This time, I was matched with Imke and received a great kit all the way from Germany. I hope that Imke and the others like my card!

I think the Whiff of Joy image is too cute.  I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter on the star, the tree and on the shoes to give it a bit of Christmas Sparkle!

Here is the inside of my card:

Maturity Is...

This is the card I made for our bi-monthly swap at my local stamp and scrapbook store called Polka Dots, in Mukwonago.  The theme this month is birthday, so I went with one of my favorite sentiments.  I copied my blog post from the last swap, masculine cards in June, I realized that is used the exact same sentiment.  Oh Well, I hope my swappers need more birthday cards!

I hope everyone likes my card!

Color Me Love

This is the card for the 33rd round of the Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--that was yesterday!   The image for this round was provided by Linda.   She will swap the cards and include the next image that Paola, our next hostess in their return envie.  And then we get to do it all again--for round #33--in October!

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations today or in the next few days.  I hope Darlene and everyone in the swap liked my image and that you and like my card!

Poppies!

It is the third Wednesday of the month and that means a Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card!  The 3 Musketeers (Jeanette, Kelly and me) are back with another challenge this month--our fourth month of this!

Kelly picked our challenge for August.  This month, we are visiting a virtual museum with our cards!  I'm challenging you to create a card based on the work of any famous painter - museum quality artwork - and create a card based on that painting.  Tell us in your blog post what artist you chose, as well as post a picture of what painting you are inspired by.   Your card should be a direct mimic of the painting.  You do not need canvas and paints, stamps and inks are just fine as that's the challenge.   There are MILLIONS of works of art you can chose - pick your favorite and have fun with it!

OK--so, this is a monthly challenge that our trio takes on.  And, yes, this was a bit of a challenge.  I do go to museums and I have enjoyed artists and their art while visiting.  While I do not have a favorite artist, I do have a favorite type of  painting--flowers.  One of the most famous US painters of flowers is George O'Keeffe.  I have been fortunate to visit Santa Fe a few times while visiting a niece in Taos and have been to her museum there.  It has a number of her paintings and one of her most famous is Oriental Poppies.  Right now, this painting is on display right now in Minnesota.

I am not sure that my card does her painting justice, but I tried........

Here is the inside of my card:

I think the sentiment joy has numerous meanings.  Yes, flowers bring me joy.  And, I know that museums bring joy to Kelly.  And, we all bring joy to each other--even though I can be known to tease Jeanette a bit and she does also in return......................  I do love our friendships and it beings me Great JOY!

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card and that you might too!  I am up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in September!

Catch of the Day

It is the 15th of the month and that means I am showing you a new Dueling Darlings card.  For the August Challenge, Carol and Shelly decided on the theme--Catch of the Day!   Shelly is the one of the Darlings and Carol is a Diva, the team that I am on!  They decided we all needed some masculine cards!

Carol
sent each of the Divas some great fishing images and coordinating sentiments. Carol also included some colorful patterned papers and sweet matching embellishments! She even made the bobber that is on the front of my card from some pearls--Carol sure is a creative lady!!!!!  I picked the Whipper Snapper Designs image as I thought that guy was so dang cute. AND--it is a Whipper Snapper!  This sure was a fun card to make!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope all of the Darlings enjoy my card this month. Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Divas as well the Dazzlers have created this month.

There are a few members who do not have blogs:  Suzy and Terry S who both are on the Diva team, and Terry A, Paola and Debby who are Dazzlers.  You will be able to check out their creations in their SCS gallery, if you click on the link for their name.  All of the others should be found on my left sidebar.  I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!

Wishing You......

This is my card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS.  Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 20th month and the theme for August is "Rainbow Bright".  We were to created a card with one of the colors of the rainbow or make a card with a rainbow.  I inked up a newer set and matching die from The Stamps of Life and I really like the way it turned out.  I am sure there will be some wonderful cards this month.

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too!  I cannot wait to see what our theme is for September.
