Final Christmas in July

This is the 29th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. July is Christmas in July--make a Christmas Card.  Every Tuesday I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge. This is my final Christmas card for July.

The stamp I used is the very first Whipper Snapper Designs stamp I ever bought--I think. I know it is the first stamp I used to make a Christmas card with a number of years ago.  I had used a few Christmas stamps to "decorate" the envelope of store bought Christmas cards that I sent for a number of years--but this was the first image that I made an actual card with.

It is a bit hard to see, but one layer for the card and the layer behind the image is Gold Mirripaper.  It really does have a great shine in real life--just like the angel wings!

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

Here is the inside of my card, with a sentiment from Northwoods Rubber Stamp:

I hope you will stop back each Tuesday to see my creation for my A Card a Week Challenge!  August will be using a color combo from the SCS color challenge forum.  Be sure to check back to see my what colors I used for my next card!

Floating in the Lake!

Today is the day I post a project for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 30th month of de-stashing-we are well into our 3rd year into our challenges.

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group and the card is due to be posted on the 28th. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Pansy posted our July challenge--Make a card with water as a theme!

I used one of my favorite Whipper Snapper stamps!  We spent a long weekend a few weeks ago at a friend's lake house in northern Wisconsin. We also spent some time on the water, floating with our beverages in hand!  We will send Cindy this card as a Thank You!

I added some Wink of Stella on the water and in the beverage glass for some shimmer!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards today or in the next few days.  There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUL.  You might see many cards there is you do a search.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For August, Kelly is up and we already know our fun theme.  Be sure to check back to see what we create!

Bethlehem's Light

This is the 28th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. July is Christmas in July--make a Christmas Card.  Every Tuesday I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge. This is my fourth Christmas card for July.  One more to go!

I used a brand new stamp set from Colorado Craft Company called Bethlehem's Light.  I bought this set after Junkie Fest and the company was one of the sponsors. I had seen so many pretty cards made with this set in the past few months and I knew I wanted it.   I used my Stampin' Up Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder for the background texture and a MFT-My Favorite Things Die called Stitched Dome Frame to cut the image and then the frame around it.

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

Here is the inside of my card, with another sentiment from the same set:

This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our 52nd round!  Terry is our hostess this month and she sent everyone this great floral image from Stampin' Up stamp set. Terry will swap the cards and send everyone the next image, which I picked out! We then get to do it all again, for round #54, in

Original or Not?

Today is third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers--Kelly, Jeanette and me--are back with another challenge for July-our 26th month!  That means we are into our third year--YAY!

Jeanette provided the challenge for July when she said: I am always impressed when crafters use a stamp or die in a way other than it was intended. For instance, did you see the way Rebecca turned the evergreen tree die into banners?
Oh and here’s one from some time ago – Cornelia turned bicycle wheels into citrus fruit…
Just a few of examples to get your creativity flowing.

So here’s the July theme…
Make a card using a stamp or die in a way other than it was originally intended

Ready? Set? Go!

I went through every one of my dies and tried to come up with a "new" way to use it.  No luck.  Then, I checked my trays of punches, looking for inspiration.  Could I turn a leaf punched out and flip it upside down for an apple. Not Really!  So, now I looked at my rows of Stampin' Up stamp sets.  I spied this masculine set that I still remember winning at Camp Stamp-in-Oga about 7 years ago.  I thought the hounds-tooth bow-tie might make an interesting background if stamped in rows over the card.  So, I alternated stamping with Night of Navy and I really like the look. It may not be very original to use one stamp, used numerous times across the cardstock, to make a background, but I am not sure I have ever done it!

I did go with a traditional use of a TSOL-The Stamps of Life die called Happy Birthday Circle.

Here is the inside of my card.

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card.  Kelly is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in August!
