Hooray For Slimline

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 82nd month of de-stash and we are well into our 5th year of our challenges.

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

I posted our May challenge--Make a slimline or mini slimline card.  It can be vertical or horizontal, but be sure to include a sentiment.

I decided to go with all die cuts on this card--so I am hoping my fellow CYS card makers consider the word Hooray as a sentiment!  I picked a fun die cut from Memory Box called Alessandria Tree Background and Outline for the main image.  The word, or sentiment,  is from Concord & 9th and is layered three times. I added some stitched hills from MFT-My Favorite Things. The cardstock used for all of the die cuts is from The Paper Cut-either copper or bronze.   For the background, I used a stencil from Picket Fresh called Slimline Radial.  I used Decofoil Metallic Gel-Champagne Mist for the texture.  It was applied to Soft Suede cardstock and I really like the look.

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSMAY.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For June, Raevon is up for our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

Double Duty adds a 4th!

Here we go.  This is month #5 of another challenge for the trio of stampers—Barb, Jeanette and Kelly, and this month we have added a 4th to our monthly challenge-our friend Carol!  Welcome Carol--so happy you are going us! This was a thought that I had in the middle of the night, similar to what Kelly has had in the past.  Plus, it is a bit of offshoot of our Stamp What Challenge! This one is called Double Duty!

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month--but this month we are a few days late.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For May, the company that I picked was Unity Stamps. They really have awesome images, many different varieties and so beautiful.  I picked a cute set called Graciella Simplicity!    I love the image and coordinating sentiments!

First, I made a few panels with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks-Mojito, Stream and Purple Twilight.  I used a couple of different types of papers too--Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Cardstock and Yupo.  I then stamped the leaf image on two of them and fussy cut it.   I also decided I would use an embossing folder on both cards, as the second part of the Double Duty!  Also, both of the sentiments are from the same stamp set.

For my first card, I picked the Yupo Alcohol Ink Paper image.   I embossed the background Elegant Eggplant cardstock with my Stampin' Up Tufted Embossing Folder--one of my favorite folders! I used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 4 to cut the banners with the sentiment.   I then added some Trinity Mirrored Mint Baubles and love the final result!

For my second card, I picked the image stamped on the Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Cardstock.  The embossing folder is also from Stampin' Up called Subtle Dynamic and it is one I use often for a bit of texture on the cardstock.  The sentiment was die cut with Gina Marie Stitched Rectangles dies.   This time I added Taylored Expressions Clear Drip Drops for the bling!

I had a number of Double Duty elements on these cards.  I used the same image, fussy cut from an alcohol inked background, die cut the sentiment and an embossing folder.

I hope you enjoyed my card for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's,  Kelly's  and Carol's blog-they may post today or tomorrow, so be sure to check back.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards! I hope Kelly, Jeanette and Carol like my card. Gina K Designs is the company we will use in June, so be sure to check back to see how we double up and make two cards on the 22nd!

Going to the Chapel

Today is not the 15th, but is a week later on the 22nd. We had a bit of a delay with some members getting their kits, so here we are.  Today is another posting day for our group, the Crafty Card Ladies!   The team names are the Pearls and the Diamonds--very Classy names for us!   For our May Challenge, Carol and Shelly are the hostesses. Shelly is a Pearl and Carol is a Diamond, just like me!  And we are all team Classy Card Ladies!

The theme for May is Going to the Chapel. Carol sent everyone a kit with this sweet Colorado Craft Company image called Happy Forevering, from the Lovely Legs series.  She also include some coordinating sentiments and I used one on the outside as well as another on the inside of my card. Carol also included some sweet patterned and glittery paper, cut for a slim-line size card along with some fun ribbons and pretty embellishments.

I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I also flagged one of the sentiments to use on the front of the card.  I picked the fun Bazzill black on black polka dot patterned paper for the base layer. I also used one of the glittery papers for another layer for some shimmer.  I added three rhinestones on the sentiments along with some of the black sheer ribbon.  This was fun card to make!

Here is the inside of my card, with another of the sentiments:

I hope all of the Classy Card Ladies enjoy my card this month. Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Diamonds as well the Pearls have created this month.  There are two members who do not have blogs: Suzy who is on the Diamond team and Debby who is a Pearl. You will be able to check out their creations in their SCS gallery, if you click on the link for their name.  All of the others should be found on my left sidebar.  I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!  See you next month in June, when we are not exactly what is happening but I am sure Kelly and Jeanette have a plan!

Have You Heard

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 of us, Kelly, Jeanette and me, are back with another challenge for April, our 49th month!  That means we are into year #5 for us--WOW!

I provided the challenge for us this month: I like to look to see what happens on the date we post.  On May 19th, in 1884, the Ringling Brothers Circus premiers.  So, your challenge for May is to make a card with an animal or two or more—circus animals are a plus, but any animal on your card will work.  The challenge is that the animal needs to move!  The thrill of the circus is seeing the dogs on the bikes, or the elephants stand on the platform or lions and tigers jumping through hoops.  So, visualize that circus tent and watch the animals move!

Posting is on May 19th.  Ready. Set? Go!  Have Fun Creating the scene…

Another challenge that had me thinking!  I was not sure why type of animal I wanted to highlight, but I remembered a fun card I made in a class that Sarah from The Paper Cut had made with a die that they sell.  I don't have the die (surprise), but thought I could recreate the card easily enough.  I first decided to go with a fun Unity Stamp Company set that I just love called Have You Heard.  I picked the sentiment to use and then used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder called Chicken Wire with Back Mirricard Glossy cardstock.  Chicken wire is also used on a farm.

So--where is the movement part?  It is inside of my card.

Wait for it--here you go....................

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. Jeanette is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in June.

Daisy Bouquets

Today is the 18th and the due date for a Mystery Swap on SCS. This is my card for that swap.  It is a group of us who do a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette--back in 2010 and we are now in our 64th round!  Tracie is our hostess this month and sent everyone this sweet floral image from Inky Antics called Daisy Bouquets.  She will also send everyone the next image, which Laura Jean stamped.  We then get to do it all again, for round #65, in July!

I think this image is so sweet.
I colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers. I die cut the image with a Spellbinders Nestabilities oval as it matched pretty well.  I layered a strip of Stampin' Up Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper over an embossed background called Scripty 3D,also from Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from the Blossoms and Blooms Stampin' Up stamp set.  I then added a few rhinestones as the final touch.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope you and all of the mystery swappers like my card.  If you check my sidebar on the left, you might see some other swappers who have posted their cards today or in the next few days.

Happy Birthday Gnome

It is the 15th of the month and normally you would see a post with my card for the Creative Card Ladies.  There have been some issues this month with the mail and receiving the kits, so we are delaying the posting until next Saturday.  So--be sure to check back on the 22nd to see my card.

But for today, here is another card for my new monthly challenge for 2021--At Home With Gnomes. Each month I will create a card using one of my many gnome images.

For this card, I picked a new-to-me stamp from Unity Stamps called Happy Birthday Gnome. Isn't this a sweet gnome?  I colored this cute image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I wanted to use two of the sentiments from the same set, so I thought a mini-slimline card would be a perfect fit.  The mini-slim card base is from Taylored Expressions.  I added a few bright green enamel dots for the final touch!  AND--there is some Glossy Accents on the balloon for the shine!

Here is the inside of my card, with a strip of washi tape

I am sure I have more than enough gnome images to use a different one each month.  I will be back in June and will show you another gnome, so stay tuned!

Explore!

Today is the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.  This is card number 22 and we are coming to the end of year #2. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success started with Kelly and the general theme is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a group of 6 and we will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other 5 members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness,  I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Pearls along with the Silver Mixative. I added some Rubbing Alcohol and Blending Solution along the way to move the ink around.  The cardstock I used with the inks is Black Glossy Mirricard from The Paper Cut. I die cut the inked panel from my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and backed it with a piece off purple Mirri-Sparkle.  I think the colors are a bit galaxy looking, so I used the die cut word Explore, from Tim Holtz Sizzix Shadow Script #3.  The word is cut three times from black glossy and the shadow is from the same purple Mirri-Sparkle.  The card base is Elegant Eggplant, with a layer of Black Glossy.  I added some Trinity Stamps Midnight Ball Embellishments and I love how it picks up the purple in the inks.  This card looks very dark in the picture, but does have a lot of sparkle in person!

Here is the inside of my card, with a strip of the colorful paper:

Here are the links to the other members of Hot Mess ~ Success.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry'sKelly's , Carol's and Darlene's blogs. I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy and was successful in making some great cards!   We will all continuing this year, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on June 12th.

Kind and Caring Thoughts

Today is the 10th and the day we are to post our Stamp What? challenge with the three collaborators you have seen many times in the past--Kelly, Jeanette and me! We started this in January of 2020, so we are now into our second year of this fun challenge.  Kelly came up with the challenge to randomly pick a Stampin' Up set and make a card with that set.  Get the dust off of those forgotten Stampin' Up sets!

I decided when this group challenge started to only use the wooden Stampin' Up stamps that are on my bottom shelves.  So this month, I randomly picked the Kind and Caring Thoughts set!  There is not a year listed on this set, so it must be a newer one--but it still is a wood set.

I  decided the image would be perfect with a mini-slimline card.  Two posts in a row with a slimline card!  I stamped the image in Pear Pizzazz and wish it had better coverage of the ink.  I also stamped one of the sentiments from the set in the same ink on Pear Pizzazz.  I again used a set of Taylored Expressions Mini-Slim dies--this time the Stitched Dies.  A few clear drip drops complete the card.

Here is the inside of my card:

I like the look of my card this month and I hope you do too.  Be sure to check out Jeanette and Kelly's cards.  I am sure they have some fun cards with those "oldies but goodies" stamp sets by Stampin' Up!  And be sure to check back every month on the 10th to see what we create!

Daisy Bouquet

It is time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the fun stamp set that Kelly sent us for May for Card #81! YES--Kelly sent both Jeanette and I a sweet stamp set--not just an image this month. WOW--such a nice lady.............. All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time!  I am up for the June challenge and the image is in the mail, so be sure to come back to see what we create!

For our card this month, Kelly sent us the Rubbernecker stamp called Daisy Bouquet #2--it sure is a sweet floral image!  I colored the bouquet with my Copic Sketch Markers.   I then cut the image and black layer with a Rubbernecker die set called Nested Oval Scallops. The background panel is one I made a few months ago in a class I took with Lydia Fiedler and I know it used the Tim Holtz Brickwork 3-D Texture Folder--but not sure what colors I used on it.  I added some light orange enamel dots as the final touch. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Strip set.  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  They may post today or tomorrow, so be sure to check out their blogs for their card!   As I mentioned before, I am up for our June challenge.  Please be sure to join us again.
