Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!
A week or so ago, our leader Kelly posted in the thread that since the hostess for June is no longer a part of the group, that she would come up with a theme, but she was a bit overwhelmed with life...................... So--I stepped up and said I could post a theme for us to use. So her is our May challenge:
June is Dairy Month in Wisconsin. I remember when I was growing up there were dairy breakfasts at farms in our area and my 4-H club had a pie and ice cream social every June. Now--I am not sure that everyone has a dairy themed image. But--if you have something farm related--cow, chickens, ducks, barns, fields, etc. or dairy products related--ice cream, cheese, milk, eggs, cream puffs (the Wisconsin State Fair favorite!), or use your own imagination to honor the dairy farmer. Do you have some farm related DSP or an embossing folder? Chicken wire, barbed wire, farm animals, etc.--please be sure to use that.
I hope everyone enjoys creating a card or scrapbook page with a Dairy Farm Theme! Do you have a farm related story from your childhood to also share when you post your card? We would love to read about a favorite memory.
Have Fun--Enjoy the Challenge!
I have quite a few farm stamps as I did grow up on a farm in central Wisconsin. This is a Whipper Snapper stamp I got last year and I really like it. It sure is not a typical WSD, but it really reminds me of my childhood. We had this exact Farmall M tractor and my dad was always wearing a cap when he worked on the farm--usually red!
I tried something new when making my card. I used a new ink and then dug out my SU pastels to add bit of color. I tried markers and my blender pen with ink on a few trial runs, but it just did not look right. I still would have liked the color a bit more muted--but here it is!
Here is the inside of my card:
Image/Sentiment—Whipper Snapper Farmall; Inside--unknown name from Delafield Stamp Co
Ink—VersaMagic Jumbo Java
Accessories—Barbed Wire Twill, SU Pastels
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you do check out the other June Dairy Month creations from the wonderful ladies in the Crafters of Faith group! The blog list is on the left side--please check out all of the cards.
Barb, your card is fantastic! So rich and lovely - and of course, you always have the perfectly matched papers to your cards!! I think you have a 6th sense for that :) Love the image you chose, this looks like we are watching the farm right out of our window - beautiful! Thank you for stepping up as a hostess with a very fun theme, too :) Blessed you are a COF sister! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow!! I just love this card! I especially like the image, and how you complimented the style with the DP and that great ribbon! The inside is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteI like also the splash of red on the tractor and his cap. It really catches the eye. Great job on this card and thank you for such a fun challenge theme this month!
Hugs!

Thanks for covering this challenge theme for us. It was a really fun one and I love your red tractor. Those red ones are the ones I most remember in the rice farming community I grew up in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat card - so perfect for Wisconsin. :) And the red tractor pops right off our card.

That is so cool that you found a stamp that has the same tractor from your childhood. I like how you paired it with the ribbon and the DP.
