Jeannette provided the challenge for January: Here it is, the
beginning of a new year. I’m not sure if any of us make New Year’s Resolutions
(I know I don’t, although I do set annual goals) but research tells us that the
most common New Year’s Resolution people make is to lose weight. For this, our first Ready
Set Go theme of the New Year, I want our cards to lose some weight. No, we
are not going to weigh our cards… but we are going to make them skinny. Instead
of making a typical A2 card or even a square card, we will be making cards that
are the perfect size to fit in a business-size envelope. Tall and Skinny! (Oh,
how I wish that were my body type.) Oh, I guess you realize, to be tall and
skinny, your card will also need to be vertical and not horizontal. We don’t
want to be short and fat. ;) NOTE HERE from ME--I Failed This Part!
A business-size
envelope measures 9 ½” by 4” so the cards probably need to be about 9 ¼” by 3
¾”.
A second part to
this month’s theme is to use the newest paper-crafting item you have while
making your card. Maybe it’s a stamp you recently purchased, a tool/gadget you
received for Christmas, or some other treasure you’ve acquired. Whatever is the
newest. (And remember, newest could be months ago… but hey! It’s not for me! I
get new toys way too often.)
Here’s to the
Newness of a 2019! Ready? Set?
Go!
But since the card looks a bit odd, standing sideways, I had better post a better picture here and do some 'splaining.................... I did use my most recent stamp set--Stampin' Up Blended Seasons and the matching die set--Stitched Seasons. I received those in November with hostess rewards when I was hostess for our monthly Rewards Club. I did follow those directions! But, in my defense--I am 6 feet tall, or was before I started shrinking the past few years. I know that I am not skinny though--but I was, back in the day!
Here is the inside of my card:
Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards. Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog. I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card--and that Jeanette is not too mad at me for messing up! I hope you might it too!--tall and skinny or short and fat?! Kelly is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in February!

Barb, I am literally giggling at reading your post... and a failure embraced is a non-failure, I'm sure! Your card is gorgeous!!! Love the color scheme... and that is a fabulous stamp set (I own it, too, but not the dies). Thank you for "mostly" following the theme and creating a masterpiece for this month's Ready Set Go!
ReplyDeleteOkay, everybody ...... tilt! To the left! I think it says ........ Thank You! :) Haha, you silly friend - this card is sensational! I love the bold colors - the red just POPS! The outer floral pieces really draw the eye inward to the focal point - this is super! Happy January RSG!
ReplyDeleteOh Barb what a fabulous card, albeit a wee bit squished to short and fat rather than tall and skinny... Love your rich colours and the stunning simplicity of the design

I just love that die cut and how you layered it. It is kinda 'fat' and makes the card look 'skinny', so there, you complied! LOL Gosh, if I had to pick the last new thing.....I am still thinking on what it was.....glad you have fun stuff to share ad thanks for doing it! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this card Barb. Love the colors and the layout.
