First Love

Today is third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers--Kelly, Jeanette and me--are back with another challenge for September-our 28th month!  That means we are well into our third year--YAY!

I provided the challenge for September: I checked a site and saw that September 18th,  our posting date, is National First Love Day!  Who Knew there was such a day?!   This is what the website says:  Ah, young romance! The springtime of life, when our fullest fancies first turn to thoughts of love (to paraphrase Alfred, Lord Tennyson). September 18 is National First Love Day, and we welcome the holiday with open arms — much like we welcomed our first boyfriend or girlfriend.  Do you remember your first love? Most people do, even if — or perhaps especially if — that love was unrequited, and the memory carries with it a sort of sweet melancholy. National First Love Day is a time to celebrate the youthful vigor and boundless energy that carried us through our early romances, setting the stage for all that followed. Who was your first love? Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

So here’s the September theme or challenge:  Pick a first love-it might be the person you have married, or your first child, a movie you just love to watch, or your first trip abroad, the book you love to read, or your first kiss, etc.  Pick something that you remember as a “first love”.  Design a card or another project that showcases your first love.

Ready? Set? Go!

I thought and thought and thought a bit more............... What do I remember as a first love and one that I have a stamp to showcase.  So--back to my childhood and my Blue Huffy--my first bike!  I vividly remember getting it and it was love at first sight.  I am not sure how old I was, but I remember riding to the corner and back.  That was as far as I was allowed at the beginning.  But, I remember riding farther and farther every year and I loved the freedom.  Except the one time I fell on the side road by us that by us, coming down the hill, and washing gravel out of my knees and elbows!

My card shows an old fashion bike and I am not that old!  But, I love this image and somehow it reminds me of my Blue Huffy--with Streamers!

Here is the inside of my card.

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card.  Jeanette is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in October!

  1. Great card Barb, and an awesome story - I loved my bike too, and had my far share of spills on gravel... look closely at my knees and they tell quite a story!

  2. Barb, I'm giggling... you may say your first bike wasn't like this one, but..... ???

Loved your theme and your card is awesome! Fun to walk down memory lane (or in your case, peddle down memory lane).
