Special Friends!

This is the second card of a new challenge in 2020 with the three collaborators you have seen many times in the past--Kelly, Jeanette and me!  I think this is our 6th challenge amongst us!  Jeanette came up with this new challenge called Mission Possible!  Jeanette sent us a mystery item and asked if we would accept the challenge to make a project with the items even before opening the package!  Of course, Kelly and I said yes, so the challenge is on.  We plan to do this quarterly and the item will change each round!  This Will be Mission Possible!

This is what we agreed to: Good Day, Ms. Card-Maker. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the use of a substance that will be revealed to you upon opening this package. Two team members have been selected to work with you, I am one of them and the other one will be revealed within a reasonable timespan. She is an equally talented card-maker who, like you, will be given the opportunity to accept or decline this mission. Should you choose to accept the mission, you have a month to complete it, in which case at some point within the next month you will create a card using the enclosed substance on it and post it somewhere in a public forum (blog, gallery, FB, Instagram, or such). The theme of the card can be any of your choosing; the only requirement is that the substance be used in some way. Should you or any of the other two team members get caught with the substance on your fingers or clothing, laughter is sure to ensue. And Ms. Card-Maker, those laughing will disavow any responsibility for their laughter.  This message will not self-destruct in five seconds, since I have no ability to do that and besides, you might need to refer to it again at some point.

Jeanette sent us each a sweet stamp that is so perfect for our trio.  We text back and forth many times a week and I truly appreciate and value the friendships we have made via stamping!  I am running a bit behind in making this card and posting, so I looked on my desk to see what I might have already made to use on this card.  I found a piece of Yupo paper that I made in a virtual card class a few weeks ago when we tested various papers with Tim Holtz inks.  I really like the gold and purple marbled look and then used my Altenew Nesting Labels for the layers.  The background is a Starburst Embossing Folder from We R Memory Keepers and then I added some gold rhinestones to the card.  I think met the challenge--mission accomplished! And, I am excited to do this again!  But, I will do better and post my card in the morning!

Here is the inside of my card, with a perfect sentiments from Altenew and a strip of washi tape:

Please be sure to check out the other Mission Possible projects with Pixie Dust.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. Be sure to check back to see what we create in September--and see what item Jeanette sends us to create with!

  1. Barb, you're not late - you're just on time! WOW!!! I love the way you made the sentiment the focal point by using that awesome nesting die. And the papers look fabulous! I think you chose well by using the one you made earlier in your virtual class. The inside is just so sweet and goes perfectly with the other sentiment. Mission Accomplished, for sure!

  2. What a stunning card Barb - love that you let the sentiment be the focal point of the card, and the layers of gold make it so luxurious looking.
    Stay safe
