This is a card
that I made for our monthly SOTC—Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards--Swap on SCS.
April was our hostess for May. Here is her challenge:
This month's theme is
Monochromatic May! Your card can be for any occasion, but it should be all
one color family! I tend to have a problem making cards like this, so I
would love some inspiration from my Sistahs!
I like
making monochromatic cards and I seem to have many shades of green in my
stash. It also was the school color of
WHS—the school I retired from a few years ago.
I also chose a stamp that reflects my thoughts of this wonderful group
of women that I chat with on SCS—they are a Blessing!

Happy Memorial
Day!
Since it is
also the 28th, I am here to welcome
you to another round with the Calendar Girls!
Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place
where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In
keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a
place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.
This month hostess is Me! Here is the challenge I posted:
Here is the
Challenge for the Month of May ~ Memorial Day--a day of honor, remembrance,
family picnics, parades, flags placed at cemeteries, concerts and the
unofficial start to summer! So the challenge this month for the Calendar Girls
is to ink up a patriotic stamp, get out the red/white/blue paper and DSP to
post a card that shouts respect to your country and those who have served in
the past. I would also like you to note in your post on the 28th what is in
your plans this year or what typically has been part of your celebration in the
past years on Memorial Day.
So, I went to my favorite company, Whipper Snapper and inked up a cute stamp
that has two of my favorite things for May—flowers and a flag! I used some new designer paper I recently
bought and made a tent topper card. I
have seen this style of card usually with ovals or circles on the top—but I
used a deckled rectangle for mine.
We typically
have a cookout and invite some friends over to enjoy some grilled food. We try to eat outside and enjoy the view of
our flower gardens. This year, today
will be the last day of our week-long vacation at a cabin on a lake in Northern
Wisconsin. There will be six friends who are joining us at the end of the week
to spend some time with us and four of them will be here today. If the weather cooperates, we hope to spend
some time on the pontoon on the lake, grill out at the house and head for home………………

paper to create my cards! I love the
sunglasses brad—I thought I had palm tree brads as I know they are on the
Eyelet Outlet site. But, I guess it will
have to be in my next order. And, they
had a booth at the recent stamp/scrap show I went to………………
I also entered this into the Twisted Tuesday challenge for a vacation card. Please go and check them out: Twisted Tuesday

This card is for a
Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we
all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was
created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette. These images were sent to us by Linda,
who will swap the cards and send us the next image, provided by Kate! I
can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same
image. And then we get to do it all again!!!!
The image Linda sent
was a full card front—I trimmed it to make an easel card. I will be interesting to see what others do
with this pretty stamp.

It is the 15th of the
month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostess this month for the Divas is Judy and
she sent us a wonderful kit. The theme
that Paola, the hostess for the Dazzlers and Judy came up with is “Spring is in
the Air”. May is the month when the
earth bursts forth with new growth new flowers and new bird songs
The image Judy sent us is from
the Stampin’ Up set Serene Spring. I do
have that set, but sadly I am not sure it has ever seen ink. Now, with the inspiration of all of the
wonderful cards I am going to see created, I am sure I will take it off of the
shelf soon!
Judy also asked us to tell what we love about May. I love all of the flowers that are popping up in the gardens--lupines, columbines, lily of the valley and we have some irises blooming too. I also love to get the vegie garden planted and this year, all of the plants will be from the seeds we have started in our new greenhouse--too fun!

Good Morning—we had stamp club
this past Wednesday and the hostess was Lynne.
Our theme was masculine cards and I came up with this birthday card. When we got to Nancy’s house, it was a coincidence
that Carla used the same image on her card!

Melina hosted a recent swap on
SCS with the theme “A Touch of Class”.
We were to make a grown up card (her words) that was elegant. I am not sure my cards are formal or elegant,
but I think they are classy…………………….
Check back in the next few days for the remainder of the cards I made.
This one is for the Thank You
category and I inked up one of my most used SU sets!

hosting a swap so that was new for her and was the inspiration for the
theme. We were to use something new or
try a new technique. I choose to ink up
a stamp set that I had not used yet—Four Frames by Stampin’ Up. I like the feminine look of the card.

It is the 5th
of the month, so I am back with the newest Challenge of the Crafty
Gals! We are a group of bloggers who
have monthly challenges,
caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.
This
month, the challenge was posted by Tracie. Here
are the details:
"Celebrating Those Who Love Us"
This month's theme celebrates those
who have sacrificed so much to help us become the people we are today. This
could be mothers, fathers, friends, Jesus, or anyone you'd like to celebrate!
On your project, include the following:
1. At least 3 layers
2. At least 2 embellishments
3. At least 1 sentiment
I can't wait to see what you come up with and the stories you share with us!
I love
coffee—and many forms of it. We have an
espresso machine and make a latte every morning—and I get to enjoy it with my
best bud Rebecca! We sacrifice for each
other—I get up everyone morning at 6:00, even though I am retired to have
breakfast and share a latte with her. And what does she sacrifice, well…….......... probably a lot by
being with me………….
