Chick Magic Card

Today is the last day of August and I am posting a pair of cards for our challenge-The Catch-up Club!  A few of my stamping friends, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry along with myself, have signed up for a number of virtual stamping events in the past 3+ years.  One of the benefits of these events are that they are available to rewatch or even watch for the first time at a later date as they are all recorded. The 4 of us "try" to watch live and chat by texting during the event.  But, life steps in and there are times when one or more of us are not participating during the live.  Then, the kits from sponsors sits in our stamping area until we are ready to watch the video and create.  During one of the events, we decided we needed to push ourselves (and each other) to get some of these events done!   So--we all decided to devote one day a month, the last day of the month for the somewhat procrastinators that we are, to post cards we missed making.  So--here we are in our 8th month of The Catch Up Club!

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  The cards are the designs of the other instructors from these classes.  I am just recreating the cards from the class. This month the creations are from Sarah and The Paper Cut in Appleton, WIS!

These cards are from a class Sarah did with animals--bunnies, a mouse and these sweet chicks!  These two cards are called Magic Cards. There is a piece of acetate with the image stamped on it.  Then, the same image is colored on a piece of cardstock.  They are layered between the back of the card, with the acetate on top.  Then a strip of yellow is added to the end and a scalloped pull tab.  The top card shows the card as it is closed.  The bottom card shows the colored image when the tab is pulled out.  The original card had the sentiment Happy Spring, but I always need birthday cards, so I changed it up a bit. I was able to complete both cards quite quickly as all of  stamping needed was done and other materials were included in the kit by Sarah and her warehouse crew--thanks!

Sarah offers many different kinds of classes through the year and kits can be ordered from their website.  And, there is an in-person class in September where we can make a boat-load of cards.  That will also be a virtual option.

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  Here are the links to the other of the Catch Up Club.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's, and Darlene's blogs.  They may post today or tomorrow, but we have all promised to post cards that we have missed the making along the way!

It's Your Birthday

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 80th month of de-stash, so we are in the middle of our 7th year of challenges.  I cannot believe my thought about using what we have is now 6+ years old!   I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Lorraine posted our August challenge--"Here's what's cooking!" Make a card that has a stamped image or cooking/kitchen-theme DP of anything you would find in a kitchen: food, pots and pans, oven mitts, blender, drinking glasses, etc.

I do not have many "cooking items in my stash--might be because I really do not cook.   I am blessed that Rebecca loves to cook and get to clean up!  But, I do have a few images and sentiments that work if I stretch the theme to beverages too!  I picked a fun Rubbernecker Stamps image and a sentiment from Honey Doo Crafts.  The wine bottle and glass is a two part stamp and it is supposed to look splashy (I hope!)  I die cut the panel with my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and added the black backer. A few red enamel dots around the card is the final touch!

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSAUG.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For September, Maggie is up for our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

Get Whale Soon

This card was posted on Instagram yesterday for a hop called Rediscovery! The premise of this hop is to find the treasures hidden, instead of buying new supplies.  We all have those drawers, bins and shelves that have been tucked away and forgotten.  We all need to root through them and rediscover what we have!  The hop is always the last weekend of every month and some months it is held on both days.

The theme for August is Get Well. I seem to always need these kinds of cards and I knew I wanted to make more of a clean and simple card--less layers!  I picked one of my wood mounted Whipper Designs Stamps called Get Whale Soon.

I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Marker and then die cut it with a Gina Marie Designs Stitched Square Die. I picked this fun background from a Taylored Expressions Alcohol Ink Series 1 pack.  I added a few glittery blue enamel dots for the final touch!

This hop on Instagram happens the last weekend of every month. If anyone is interested in joining us in the future, feel free to contact Tracy on IG--@craftwithme101    I know I will be back hopping in September!

The Project Bin Christmas

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 32nd month, so we are now in year #3

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For August, the company we pick is a stamp company that is no longer in business.  I decided to go with The Project Bin.  This is a fun company that Denise started and had primarily sentiment sets.  I was blessed to be on the design team for a few years so I got to create often with these great sets.  I still have every single set that was created.  It closed down at the end of 2020 and I do miss seeing the new stamp sets Denise would design!

I picked the fun Christmas stamp set called Joyful Song.  I love the bold musical  sentiments and the one I picked for the challenge is one of my favorites.

For both cards, I used Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler ink for the sentiment and then die cut.  The first card uses a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 4 and also a backer of the same color.  For the backgrounds, I picked a fun patterned paper from Fancy Pants called Saint Nick-Joy.  I added some red pearls around the die cut.

For the second card, I used the same ink color and same background.  This time I added a banner from the opposite side of the patterned paper.  The die is a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 7--looks  like an open book!    I added red pearls around the image.

Again, both cards use the same background, same color ink and also a Spellbinders Nestabilities Die.  Red Pearls are also on each card.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month we are using Rubbernecker Rubber Stamps--should be fun.  So be sure to check out our cards on September 22nd!

Create It 3 Ways~Sympathy

This is a set of three cards that I posted on Instagram yesterday for a hop called Create It 3 Ways! This hop is to showcase triple inspiration by creating 3 cards by choosing our own category to feature across all three cards.   The theme for August is sympathy cards and I decided to embossing along with using sentiment dies.

All three cards were made with the same embossing folder for the background--We R Memory Keepers Medallions.  I also used metallic cardstock from The Paper Cut for each background and for the sentiments. I love shimmer on all of the cards

For the first card, I picked a MFT Prayers sentiment die. The cardstock colors are Opal and Champagne, on an ivory cardbase.  I added a frame cut Pinkfresh Studio Pretty Frame die set and some Gold Satin Baubles from Trinity Stamps.

For the second card, I picked a Simon Says Stamp With Sympathy sentiment die.  This also comes with a backer.   The cardstock colors are Cuba Libre Cocktail and Ivory.  I added some gems from The Ton around the card.

For the third card, I again picked a Simon Says Stamp die set called You're In OUr Thoughts.  This one also has a backer. The cardstock colors are Opal and Champagne, on an ivory cardbase.  I added some Peach Fuzz Gems from Pinkfresh Studio.

This hop on Instagram will happen every month on the third Saturday--see, another three!  If anyone is interested in joining up, contact Amrita on IG @amritapettus.  I know I will be back hopping in September!

Summer By The Sea

This is my card for a swap called the SIS--Surprise Image Swap.   This is card #9  for our group.  It is a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The surprise part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--the 18th of every other month.   The image for this round was provided by Jody.  She will swap the cards and include the new image for round #11 that Janet stamps in everyone's return envie. Then--we do it all again in October!

Jody sent everyone this sweet image from Stampin' Up called Summer By the Sea.  She said she thought it was one of the first sets she ever bought and still loves it.  She asked us to use our own sentiment if we wanted. I decided to use an Altenew Watercolor Pan Set and colored the image.  Even though it was not stamped on watercolor paper, I still think I achieved the soft, watercolored look. I die cut the image with a Sizzix Dotted Squares Die. I then used some older Stampin' Up Designer Paper called Blooms & Bliss for the background and panel.  I added a piece of Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon over the panel.   I used a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp sentiment package and flagged the end.  I added some green enamel dots for the final touch.

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations.  The due date is today, the 18th, or they may post in the upcoming days. You can also check out SCS and use the keyword SIS10 to see some posted there.  I hope everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!

Wreaths and Gingerbread

Today is the 15th and this is my card for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7 and all one team--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit.  This month Lorraine sent everyone a fun Christmas kit. She decided that since we had two months of florals for May and June--we now needed two months of Christmas Card--July and now August!

Lorraine said two of her favorite Christmas items are wreaths and gingerbread people.  So she sent everyone this sweet wreath image and a couple of sentiment banners from Your Next Stamp. She was so kind as to have some already die cut for us--yay!  We also received a variety of cute gingerbread images and embellishments.  Lorraine included some fun holiday patterned paper.  Of course, she also included some bling along along with ribbons.

I first colored one of the die cut wreath images with my Copic Sketch Markers and used the Merry Christmas banner.  I then decided to go with a more simple background--polka  dots!  I used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and then layered on some of the silver glitter cardstock! I colored one of the single gingerbread gals and added her to the bottom corner. This was fun card to make!

This is the inside of my card with some of the sweet ribbon Lorraine included along with another gingerbread gal!

I hope all of The Creative Crew Gals enjoy my card this month.  Please be sure to stop in to see what fun crafty cards are posted this month.  All of the blogs can be found on my left sidebar.  Our teammate Lorraine does not have a blog, so please check out her card in her SCS gallery.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!

We will be back in September with the surprise Jeanette will be sending out.  Be sure to check in with us on the 15th to see what fun she has planned!

Hot Mess ~ Success

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.   This is card number 51, so we are into year #5. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a very fun group and will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness, I watched a recent Simon Hurley video where he used a scraper to swipe colors over a stencil. So-- tried it with two different stencils and three colors.  I went with Picket Fence Studio Paper Glaze in Snowdrop White and Jade Wine.  The third color was The Crafter's Workshop Orchid Stencil Butter.   The stencils were both from Newton's Nook--Basketweave and Balloons.

I used the palette knife to place the three colors of pastes at the bottom of each stencil.  I then flipped the stencil so the color was at the top as I thought it would be easier to swipe down rather then up.  I used the scraper to swipe the three colors down the length of the stencil. I was able to go down a few times to get more of the color on the stencil.  The colors did overlap and blend a bit in the middle. I left them dry for a few hours and then used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 to die cut each panel.  Both of the panels were then mounted on a piece of Mirricard that was also used to die cut the words for each.

The Happy Birthday comes from The Paper Cut's Birthday set and includes a backer.  I used Purple Mirricard for the words and Opal White for the backer--that was layered three times.  The Thank You is from MFT-My Favorite Things Stamps Thank You die.  I picked Emerald Mirricard for the words--again layered three times. Both of the cardbases are white.  I added a few green and purple enamel dots on each of the cards.

I really like the look of my cards and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies like them too!  Here are the links to the other somewhat messy crafters:   Carol, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry.   I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy this month and was successful in making some great cards!   Be sure to check back to see what we are up to on September 12th.

Heard It's Your Birthday

This is my August card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS. Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. The theme for August is "Animal House"

I decided to go with Animal Barn as the theme!  The stamp I picked for this month is a favorite Unity stamp set called Have You Heard.  I love the look on the cow's face!  I paired it with some fun patterned paper from Reminisce called Barnyard Buddies-Cow Print.    I stamped the image and sentiment in black as we only had holsteins on the farm where I grew up--black and white!  I added a strip of black/white ribbon as the only embellishment!

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has posted all of the 2023 themes, so be sure to come back to see what we create!

Coffee Avery

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the Paper Nest Doll's image that Jeanette sent out for our August card, #108! That means we are at the end of year number 9 with this fun challenge! All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time!

Jeanette sent Kelly and me this sweet Paper Nest Doll's Coffee Avery image.  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers--she is so sweet with her cup of coffee!    I die cut an oval from a Gina Marie Designs Peekaboo Oval Die out of Island Indigo and then embossed the panel with a Spellbinders Dazzling Dots folder.  I cut the word coffee from a Studio Katia Script Coffee die out of Early Espresso.  It also comes with a backer, but I did not use it.  I also layered the word three times.  I did not add any bling to my card this time!  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  Kelly is up for our September challenge--please be sure to join us again.

Getting Old!

This is my August Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  And, Lisa is the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Psalms 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Challenge:  Make a birthday card

I love making birthday cards as I send quite a few every month.  I am the coordinator of the Birthday Random Acts of Kindness-BRAK group on SCS.  We coordinate sending cards each month to the active RAK members of SCS.  I also send to each of the BRAK Volunteers with a birthday that month, so I probably send out 12-15 birthday cards each month.  That does not included family and friends cards that are also send.

I picked a fun Rubbernecker Stamps image and sentiment for this month.  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut the birds with the matching die.  I picked out some fun patterned paper with birthday hats to celebrate.  I then die cut a piece of vellum from an older Gina K Designs die set called Decorative Labels.   I added some foam tape behind the vellum after glueing on the birds.  Taylored Expressions black Drip Drops complete the card.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month! We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!  Jeanette has our September challenge, so be sure to check back!
