Just Don't Fly---Soar

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 54th month of de-stash and we are in the middle of our 5th year of our challenges.

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Lola posted our June challenge--Make a project with a Tiger - or a wild cat of any sort: lion, puma, panther, cheetah--just not a domestic pet.

Well--there is no cat on my card....................   But, there is a wild animal.  I looked and looked and looked some more through my stamps, especially the older wooden ones for an image of a wild cat.  Zip--None-Zero.  I knew I had this cut Zebra image and the coordinating sentiment, so I went with that!  I could not buy a new stamp for this challenge!  I think I used to have a Whipper Snapper Designs image with a lion, but I could not find it, as it might have been sold at the camp rummage last weekend.  Anyway--this is another sweet image and sentiment from Whipper Snapper Designs.  I colored this sweet guy with my Copic Sketch Markers and layered with some striped patterned paper from a 6x6 Heidi Swapp pack called Favorite Things.  The background is embossed with the Stampin' Up embossing folder called Corrugated.  Some black twine and black pearls was the final touch!

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUN.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For July, Vickie is up for our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

A Little Birdie Told Me!

This is a fun card I made using various colors of patterned paper for a fun and quick birthday card.  I picked a favorite stamp set from Taylored Expressions called Paw-Some-and it comes with a coordinating die.  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut the image.  The background paper is also from Taylored Expressions and a 6x6 pack called Rainbow Brights. A few TE clear Drip Dots are the final touch!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope you like my fun birthday card!

Double Duty & Gina K

Here we go.  This is month #6 of another challenge for our group of 4 stampers—Barb, Jeanette, Kelly, and Carol!  This was a thought that I had in the middle of the night, similar to what Kelly has had in the past.  Plus, it is a bit of offshoot of our Stamp What Challenge! This one is called Double Duty!

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For June, the company that I picked was Gina K Designs. They really have awesome images and so many include matching dies.  They are so many different varieties and so beautiful.  And an added bonus, they are less than a half hour from my house!  They just moved a month or so ago to New Berlin and when they were in downtown Greendale, they had a sweet storefront called Village Paper and Ink.  It was a fantastic place to shop and take classes--I will sure miss it. For our challenge this month, I picked a a newer set called Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set, with the matching dies!    I love all of the sweet butterfly images and coordinating sentiments!

First, I made a few panels with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks-Mojito, Stream and Purple Twilight.  I used a couple of different types of papers too--Tim Holtz Black Alcohol Ink Cardstock and Yupo.  I then stamped the butterfly image on the papers and used the matching dies to cut out the images.  I also decided I would use an embossing folder on both cards, as the second part of the Double Duty!  Also, both of the sentiments are from the same stamp set.

For my first card, I picked the Yupo Alcohol Ink Paper butterfly images.  I embossed the background Gorgeous Grape cardstock with a Sizzix Brick Wall folder.   I then added some sequins for a bit of bling and the Lifting You Up sentiment from the same stamp set.

For my second card, I picked the images that were stamped on the Tim Holtz Black Alcohol Ink Cardstock.  The embossing folder is from We R Memory Keeper called Butterfly.    This time I added Trinity Midnight Ball embellishments for the bling!

I had a number of Double Duty elements on these cards.  I used some of the butterfly images and matching dies from an alcohol inked background, similar sentiments from the same set and an embossing folder.

Here are the insides of both cards with a strip of washi tape:

I hope you enjoyed my card for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's,  Kelly's  and Carol's blog-they may post today or tomorrow, so be sure to check back.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards! I hope Kelly, Jeanette and Carol like my card. Hero Arts is the company we will use in July, so be sure to check back to see how we double up and make two cards on the 22nd!

Collage of Birds

This is the 6th card of a new challenge that was started in 2020 with the three collaborators you have seen many times in the past--Kelly, Jeanette and me!  This is our 6th challenge amongst us!  Jeanette came up with this new challenge called Mission Possible!  Jeanette sent us a mystery item three times in 2020 and asked if we would accept the challenge to make a project with the items even before opening the package!  Of course, Kelly and I said yes, so the challenge is on. So--for 2021, we are continuing and doing it quarterly.  And, yes, the item will change each round!  This Will be Mission Impossible Possible!

I am up for the 2nd round of 2021 and this is what I sent:   Good Day, Ms. Card-Maker. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the use of an interesting stamp set that will be revealed to you upon opening this package. Two team members have been selected to work with you, I am one of them and I am sure you can guess who the 2nd is………...  You both will be given the opportunity to accept or decline this mission. Should you choose to accept the mission, you have some time to complete it, as we will decide on a date sometime between May and August.   You then will create a card using the enclosed stamp and post it somewhere in a public forum (blog, gallery, FB, Instagram, or such). The theme of the card can be any of your choosing; the only requirement is to use the stamp on your card!

This message will not self-destruct in five seconds, since I have no ability to do that and besides, you might need to refer to it again at some point.

Good day, Ms. Card-Maker… and Good Luck!

I sent both Kelly and Jeanette this fun Picket Fence Stamp called Collage of Birds.  It is a fun, square stamp. I thought it would be a fun stamp to ink blend and decided on rainbow colors.  I picked my Tim Holtz Distress Ink Cubes and used 6 of the 7 colors of the rainbow.  Then, I layered 2 dies from Sizzix and Tim Holtz called Stitched Squares together and made a frame to go over the inked image. I cut three of the frames for some fun dimension on the card.   I used an Embossing Folder from Spellbinders called overlapping circles and just embossed the bottom section of the black card base.   I picked a fun Simon Says Stamp sentiment from their package of sentiment strips.  It is layered on a black strip, but is hard to see.  I think met the challenge--mission accomplished! And, I am excited to do this again! We are going to continue in the final quarter and Jeanette will be up.

Here is the inside of my card, with a strip of the rainbow washi tape:

Please be sure to check out the other Mission Possible projects with this fun stamp.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. Be sure to check back to see what else create this year. As I mentioned before, Jeanette is up next, so the Mission Impossible Possible Continues!

There's Gnomeone Like You!

Today I am showing you a card for my monthly challenge for 2021--At Home With Gnomes. Each month I will create a card using one of my many gnome images.

For this card, I picked gnome and sentiment from a Rubbernecker Stamps called Garden Gnome Set.  And there are matching dies for all of the gnomes!  I colored this cute image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I used some fun patterned papers from my scrap drawer that are very colorful--just like this sweet guy!  I picked a fun sentiment from the many in this set.   I added a few Mirrored Mint Embellishments from Trinity Stamps for the final touch!

Here is the inside of my card:

I am sure I have more than enough gnome images to use a different one each month.  I will be back in July and will show you another gnome, so stay tuned!

Hello Friend

This is my card for the 56th round of the UIS--Unidentified Image Swap on SCS.  Yes, the 56th round!  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted.   The image for this round was provided by me!  I will swap the cards and include the next image that Jody sent in our return envie. And then we get to do it all again--for round #57--in August!

I sent everyone this beautiful Taylored Expressions floral image called Bursting Blooms.  I did not include a sentiment in their mailings, but I picked a stamp from the same set.  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  It was so fun to color up all of these sweet flowers.  I added a punched frame around the sentiment.   A few rhinestones were the final touch!

Here is the inside of my card, with the strip of washi tape:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations--due date is today, the 18th--or they may post in the upcoming days. You can also check out SCS and use the keyword UIS56 to see some posted there.  I hope everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!

Rainbow is my Favorite Color!

Today I am posting the card that I posted on Tuesday for the Love Wins Hop on Instagram.  I was blessed to post on the Green Team which represents Nature.  There were over 130 people who participated in the hop over 6 days with many, many cards posted and a number of sweet prizes to be randomly picked.  If you still want to check out the cards, you can click on my IG link on the top right side bar--it looks like a yellow flower. You will love all of the cards!  And, if you comment in the hop, you might win a wonderful prizes.  I am giving a $50 gift certificate to Gina K Designs as a prize!

I recently purchased the Simon Says Stamp Rainbow is my Favorite Color Card Kit and I loved all of the contents.  I knew I wanted to use it for this card and decided to do a slimline card, the color is Sour Apple, with a Grape Jelly window overlay, both from The Paper Cut in Appleton, WI.  I die cut three rainbows from the sweet Holographic cardstock from the kit with the Hello Rainbow Die. The background behind the windows is a fun cardstock called Blast Holographic, also from The Paper Cut--it looks like fireworks!  I used foam tape behind the Window Overlay and tucked the rainbows in each window.  The clouds were die cut from a Memory Box die from Snow White Astro King Metallic, again from TPC.  I added a few hearts, also cut from the Holographic Rainbow paper along with a few Trinity Stamps Midnight Ball Embellishments.  The sentiment is from the same Simon Says Stamp kit, which I embossed with white and die cut with a Stampin' Up Stitched Nested Labels.

Here is a close-up so you can see a bit of the fireworks!

Here is the inside, with another rainbow:

I really, really like this card and was honored to post it in the hop among some of the best and most famous cardmakers in the world!  Please check out some of the wonderful creations on Instagram!

50th Anniversary

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 of us, Kelly, Jeanette and me, are back with another challenge for June, our 50th month!  That means we are into year #5 for us--50th post--WOW!

Jeanette provided the challenge for us this month: It’s hard to believe, but this is our 50th Ready, Set, Go! post so in celebration of this momentous occasion I’m challenging us to celebrate each other and this fun challenge group. How? (I’m glad you asked.) Because there are three of us, I want you to use three of something on your card – three colors, three layers, three designer papers, three whatever. I also want you to include something on your card that starts with the first letter of each of our names – so something that starts with a K, something that starts with a B, and something that starts with a J (I’ll admit my name may be the most challenging).

Oh, and one more thing… because this is our Golden Anniversary, please add some GOLD to your card, too.

I hope you have fun with the theme. Ready Set Go!

I first decided on the items that matched each of the letters of our names:

K--a Kite

J--Just Jade Cardstock

B--Bumble Bee Cardstock

Then, the three of something was pretty easy--three layers of colors--the two I already listed plus Misty Moonlight.  The image is a fun Whipper Snapper Designs wooden stamp called Peyton.  I colored it with my Copic Sketch markers and added some gold cording behind the image and layer--there is the Gold! The fun sentiment is from a sweet Gina K Designs called Happy Mail.  The background is embossed with a fun folder from Quickutz called Swirls--looks like wind swirling for the kite!

Here is the inside of my card, with a strip of washi tape:

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. Kelly is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in July.

Salt Life!

Today is the 15th and the day we post our card for our group, the Crafty Card Ladies!   The team names are the Pearls and the Diamonds--very Classy names for us!   For our June Challenge, Kelly is the hostess and she sent both teams--the Pearls and the Diamonds, all the same kit!  And we are all team Classy Card Ladies!

The theme for June Salt Life!  This fun kit that Kelly sent included the sweet Photo Play Paper Tulla and Norbert's Excellent Adventures stamp and matching patterned paper.  She also include some coordinating sentiments,  some fun ribbons and pretty embellishments.

I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I die cut the image and the layer of one of the patterned papers from CottageCutz Single Stitched Ovals. I used the red baker's twine behind the ovals.  I picked the fun sunburst patterned paper for the base layer. I used my circle punches for one of the fun sentiments and added some of the sweet enamel dots.  This was fun card to make!

Here is the inside of my card, with a layer of one of the fun patterned papers:

I hope all of the Classy Card Ladies enjoy my card this month. Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Diamonds as well the Pearls have created this month.  There are two members who do not have blogs: Suzy who is on the Diamond team and Debby who is a Pearl. You will be able to check out their creations in their SCS gallery, if you click on the link for their name.  All of the others should be found on my left sidebar.  I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!  See you next month in July, when Kelly and Jeanette, our faithful leaders, are the hostesses!
