It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! We are now in our fourth year of posting and it has been a blast.  Wonderful Challenges--Great Fun--Sweet Creations--and Awesome Friendships!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Carol is the hostess this month and she posted the following challenge

For the challenge this month, I thought quite a bit about the challenge. As you know, we will be posting after Easter so with that in mind I thought I'd do a Mothers Day challenge. When I was a child my mom would encourage my dad to get little carnation corsages in pink or red for each of us girls and mom to wear to church on Mothers Day. According to her (and the intranet), if a woman's mother was alive the females in the family would don a red or pink flower (mostly carnations, but not a rule) and if her mom had passed, the female would wear a white flower, and would visit the grave of her mom and place a white carnation on her grave. My mom's dad would do this when she was a child and mom loved the tradition. What I would like you to do this month is create a card or project using the color that would describe your mom. As an extra I would like for you to share a special memory of your mom from when you were little (if you are comfortable with that) so we can learn a bit about the wonderful ladies who raised such beautiful paper crafters...

I do have quite a few stamps with flowers and debated between two.  One had Iris flowers on it and this one with Lily of the Valley.  My mom had both of those flowers around the house  where I was raised and I loved and still enjoy both of them.  However, I went with this image as we have some Lily of the Valley growing at our house that came from my mom's garden. It is one of the spring flowers I look forward to seeing pop through the ground and bloom.  Plus, they are white, which reflect back on Carol's challenge.  I also added some glimmer glitter in the middle of the embossed flowers honor of Carol--our glitter queen!  I used my yellow Wink of Stella glitter pen, which has been used very little since I bought them a few months ago.  I also fussy cut the image, which I rarely do--though I admire it on many of the cards that my Calendar Girls create!

D. Morgan Rhapsody in Green & Blue

Here is the final card that I created from our "card of the month kit"  challenge.  In February, I received 10 kits, a different one from each of the other 10 ladies in the group. I then had two months to complete and post the cards--and it has taken pretty much the entire two months!  This is card #10--and I think I saved the most challenging one for last.  This card kit was from Darlene and she sure knows me!

Darlene loves D. Morgan stamps and has quite a collection of her great images.  She also knows that I love them--though I so afraid to color them and make a card, because of the detail in each image.  She also sent some wonderful paper and embellishments.  However, I wanted the image to be the focal point of the card, so I did not use much "extra" on the card.  I am saving all of those items for other projects.

Darlene sent some great shiny paper--in green and blue.  That is what I used over the base of my card.

Here is the inside of my card, with a piece of patterned paper behind the white paper.  I added the ribbon with the shell design here!

Cardstock—White, Stampin' Up So Saffron; DCWV Shimmer Stack

Ink--Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories--Copic Markers; Twine; Antique Brass Brad; American Traditional Designs Silver Shell Ribbon

So--this is the last of the card kits--it has been a blast to receive them and a wonderful challenge to make each of them. I do plan to join more card kit swaps on SCS to continue to branch out and enjoy other stamp companies.  I hope you too have enjoyed checking out all of the wonderful kits sent to me!

Wild About You

Happy and Blessed Easter!

I am here with a card I created from a kit I received in February from Laura Jean.  This project is a "card of the month kit" that was just started by Jeanette on SCS. Each month, one of the ladies will receive a kit from each of the other participants.  There are 11 of us in the group, so each person will get 10 different card kits the month they are "up"!  Well--I was up first--for February.  We get all of the kits by the end of the month and then we have the next two months to create a card.  So--I have until the end of April to make and post all of the kits.  This is card #9, so I have one more to go--tomorrow is Darlene's!

Laura Jean sent two cute animal images and I went with the giraffe.  I think that is more of an Easter animal than a zebra, right?   I thought all of the papers were too cute and had a hard time picking which ones to use.

Here is the inside of my card with a sweet banner that LJ included:

Image/Sentiment—Lawn Fairy Critters in the Savannah

Ink--Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories--Copic Markers; SU Oval Punches; So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Button with Baker's Twine; Checkered Brad; Banner Flag

Please be sure to check back tomorrow for my last card.

Being Properly Caffeinated

Here is a card that I created from a kit I received in February from Jeanette. I have two more to go--tomorrow and Monday!

Jeanette sent 3 images and some great sentiments, all related to caffeine!  She does know me well.............  shhhh-I did not say that!  There were some great papers too and it was hard to chose which ones to you!  I loved the dotted ribbon, so I went with Bermuda Bay as the accent color.

Here is the inside of my card with one of the funny sentiments and two layers of the great patterned paper Jeanette sent!
