Make a Joyful Noise

Happy Halloween!  I do not have a Halloween card to show you today--but I do have a wonderful card to share.

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to show you to my Crafters of Faith card! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!

Liz is our hostess for this month--and she gave us this challenge:
The scripture for my challenge is: "But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good, salvation comes from the Lord." Jonah 2:9I love music and a "song of thanksgiving" surely pleases the Lord. Never does He speak that the songs of our hearts need to be perfectly performed to be a joyful sound to Him. So, think of some ways you can make a joyful sound to the Lord your God. The challenge this month will be to use a musical instrument image, musical score paper, musical note brads, etc. Whatever you have in your stash that is of the musical nature!  Liz

I have a few musical stamps--but I used a very special one for this challenge.  I received an awesome stamp set from our dear leader Kelly and just had to ink it up for this challenge.  I love the saxophone image and Kelly even remembered that I mentioned one time on SCS that I played sax in grade and high school.  I also think the sentiments are perfect!
Here is the additional sentiment on the inside of the card

There were some wonderful images for us to chose from for the challenge.  Thank You Stamp Art by Kathryne for the wonderful Autumn Friends digi to work with this week!

I decided to try a Criss-Cross Pocket Card for the challenge.  I have not made one before--and I really like the way it turned out.  To me--it is a card and an envelope all in one......................  Maybe I stretched the challenge just a bit!

Mix up the Sentiments

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  I am the
hostess this month and this is my challenge for the group:

Here is the October Challenge--For me a true challenge is to try a new technique. So--that is going to be the challenge I propose to all of us.

Go to this link Technique Lovers Challenge Forum and chose a new technique to you that has a 1 or 0 in the challenge number--like TLC410 or TLC360 or any more current number (as I posed this challenge way back in January......) The technique you pick should be one you have never tried before--and you can go back as far as you want in the forum in the posted techniques to find one to tackle. Please list the number and name of the technique you tried in your blog post. And--to make the challenge a bit harder--you cannot create a card this month! You need to think outside of the box and try a totally new technique along with a project that is anything but a card............... And--for extra credit--make a creation with a Halloween theme!

So--get your thinking caps on, check out some new techniques that you might want to try and create something other than a card that can be used for Halloween! I think this is a pretty good challenge for this month. Can't wait to see all of your "new" creations on the 28th! Good luck!

So--I am wondering if this challenge would be fun for the other members-or a true challenge.  I went with TLC441--Mix up the Sentiments.
1.  Look through your stamp sets and pick out several sentiments that have a similar theme .
2. Pick out several different ink colors
3. Lay out your stamps on your paper to create the pattern you want...place some of them horizontal, vertical, or diagonal...what ever works for your design
4. Stamp the sentiments to create a large focal sentiment, trim the layer, and create your card.

So--I went with a Halloween ABAC-Anything but a Card. I used a few of my favorite Halloween sentiments from different stamp sets.  I thought this would make a cute gift for the day AFTER Halloween--when breath mints might be needed!

Upsy Daisy Birthday

This card is for the monthly swap that Pam hosts on SCS. Each month we make 10 swap cards and they can be any theme. All of the swappers are wonderful and I have gotten some awesome cards back since I joined earlier this year.

For October, I made another version of a card I made a month or so ago.  It was a CASE of my SCS friend Sharon's card and I liked it so much, I did it again.  I did add a layer of Sahara Sand behind the image

Trick or Treat ~ Smell my Feet!

If you are looking for my Twist of Faith Challenge Post--please scroll down!

It is the 15thof the month and that means we get to show off another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostesses for October are Paola for the Divas and Judy for the Dazzlers.

Judy and Paola wanted us to create a Halloween card.  This is one holiday that has yet to be represented by a duel.  I love to make Halloween cards and I send them every year to family and friends,

I really loved all of the papers Judy sent--from one of my favorite lines--My Mind's Eye!  We also received some cute embellishments--buttons, ribbons, brads, stickers--many, many fun items to bling up a Spooky Card!

Here is the inside of my card.

Judy also asked us to share our views on Halloween.  I love the holiday!  I have quite a few decorations around the house and pumpkins sitting on small bales of straw on the steps to the front door.  We have been adding one new decoration for the past couple of years--it is fun to open the boxes each year and try to remember all of the items were purchased.  My favorite part of Halloween is the day or night of Trick or Treat.  We live in a subdivision in the country that has about 30 homes.  The parents walk around with the kids or pull small trailers full of kids with a lawn mower or 4-wheeler.  Our house is at the top of a kind of long uphill driveway--so many of the little costumed kids are tired by the time they get to the door.

One year we were going to be gone--but we left a bowl of treats on the porch with the following note:  "Please take one of these treats so there are enough for everyone in the neighborhood.  If this bowl is empty, then the kids before you took too many........."  Yes--it was empty when we got home.

Unidentified Image Reveal

This is the card for the 10th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--today!   The images for this round were provided LJ  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Terry, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image the LJ used I think she purchased back in April when she visited my house for a stamping weekend with 4 other wonderful ladies.  We took a field trip to Creative Pals--the home store for Whipper Snapper stamps.  In addition to tons of WSD stamps, they also carry a number of Penny Black, Bella, MFT, Impression Obsession, Art Impressions, etc.  She did not show us what she got that day as she said we would see soon enough--it was going to be a surprise.  Since all of the ladies that were at my house are also a part of this wonderful swap, I am sure we all are fondly remembering a great weekend!

I think this Penny Black image is too cute.  I loved pairing her with some fun and colorful paper.  Here are two more views of my card:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations too!
