The Paper Cut Clean & Simple

Today is the last day of January and I am posting a set of cards for our challenge-The Catch-up Club!  A few of my stamping friends, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry along with myself, have signed up for a number of virtual stamping events in the past 3+ years.  One of the benefits of these events are that they are available to rewatch or even watch for the first time at a later date as they are all recorded. The 4 of us "try" to watch live and chat by texting during the event.  But, life steps in and there are times when one or more of us are not participating during the live.  Then, the kits from sponsors sits in our stamping area until we are ready to watch the video and create.  During one of the events, we decided we needed to push ourselves (and each other) to get some of these events done!   So--we all decided to devote one day a month, the last day of the month for the somewhat procrastinators that we are, to post cards we missed making.  So--here we are in our 8th month of The Catch Up Club!

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  The cards are the designs of the other instructors from these classes.  I am just recreating the cards from the class. This month the creations are again from Sarah and The Paper Cut in Appleton, WIS!

These cards are from a Fun Time Thursday in December called Clean and Simple Cards. Sarah admittedly said she does not do Clean and Simple well--but she tried! I did add a bit of embossing on the front of some of the cards as I too do not do Clean and Simple very well.............   The kit also included some  Impression Obsession dies and stamp sets.  All of the beautiful cardstock is also from The Paper Cut.

Sarah offers many different kinds of classes through the year and kits can be ordered from their website.  I have a few other virtual classes from The Paper Cut that need to be completed.  And, I have a Pinkfresh Studio virtual event coming up the end of February, and I doubt I will get all of the cards done during that time--so more catch up!   I also have parts of other virtual events and classes from 2023 that need to be completed.   I am already way behind, so more Catch Up to Come!

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  Here are the links to the other of the Catch Up Club.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's, and Darlene's blogs.  They may post today or tomorrow, but we have all promised to post cards that we have missed the making along the way!

Masculine Winter Birthday Card

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 85th month of de-stash, so we are at the end of our 7th year of challenges.  I cannot believe my thought about using what we have is now 7 years old!   I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!  This is the first one for 2024 and we have themes set for all of the months.

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Anna posted our January challenge--We have a number of January birthdays in my family, all men.  Make a winter birthday card for a man.

I picked a Stampin' Up set called Christmas Barn and it also has a set of coordinating dies called Barn. I stamped the barn with Taylored Expressions Mulled Wine and die cut the image.  I also die cut the fence from the same die set.  I picked a birthday sentiment from the Stampin' Up Hey Chuck set and stamped with Chocolate Truffle.  I then die cut the sentiment  and a backer with Taylored Expression Modern Sentiment Label dies. I added some twine behind the sentiment.   I added some clear Wink of Stella in the snow around the barn for some shine.  I then used Frosted Lace Stickles along the fence for some added snow.  The background paper is from Carta Bella Let it Snow-Pretty Pines.

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJAN.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For February, I am up to give our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

Love is Kind Double Duty

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 37th month, so we are in our 4th year!  WOW--4 years of making two cards with the same stamp!

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For January, the company we picked is Stampin' Up! They make such a variety of images and I think for all of us, this was introduction to stamping.  Many call it the Gateway to now...............................  I picked one of my favorite stamps from Stampin' Up called Love it Kind.  It is a long retired single wood mounted stamp and I just love it!  And, I just noticed as I was putting together this post, we picked Stampin' Up for January of 2022 and I used the same stamp!  I really must love it!

For the first card, I stamped the image on ivory cardstock and colored with my Copic Sketch Markers. I die cut the image and a black backer with a set of Sizzix Dotted Rectangles.   The background is from a 6x6 paper pack of colorful marbled colors that look like alcohol inks. I added two pieces of Stampin' Up Bushing Bride Frayed Grosgrain ribbon behind the image.  I added some Pinkfresh Studio Jewels in Ballet Slippers around the image.

For this card, I again colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers--yellow tulips this time!  I did cut the image and black backer with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Ovals.  I layered the ovals on an embossed background in Smokey Slate that used the Spellbinders Argyle Socks folder. Taylored Expressions Black Rhinestones Bits & Pieces add bling around the image.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month we are using Unity--should be some sweet cards.  So be sure to check out our cards on February 22nd!

Whimsical Greetings

For the past few weeks, I have been making cards from kits that I have sitting in  pouches in my stamp room.  I have a few kits from the Scrapbook and Cards Virtual Events called Crop & Create Delivered.  These three cards are from fall of 2022!  Yes, they have been in my room for a long time...................  This class was taught by Jenn Shurkus, called Whimsical Greetings and features Lawn Fawn products.

These 3 cards use the Sunny Squirrels Stamp and matching die set.  It also used the Lawn Fawn Sunflower Greetings Die set.  The patterned papers are also from Lawn Fawn.  They sure are cute cards as so many of the Lawn Fawn products feature cute creatures!  Now I have a few thank you cards to add to my stash!

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  These cards are the designs from Jenn Shurkus!   I am just recreating the cards from the class.

Frosty Flakes

Today is the 15th and this is my card this month for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7 and all one team--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit.  This month I am the hostess and sent out a kit with this sweet snowman image from Penny Black called Frosty Flakes.  I also included some fun winter patterned paper from Echo Park paper and the Winter Magic Line along with some snowflakes for bling!

I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and then die cut it with a Sizzix Dotted Square Die.  It is a very large image, so not much of the snowflake patterned paper was going to show, so I added two strips from the other two patterns for a bit of interest!    I added some of the Taylored Expressions clay snowflakes around the image. This was a very fun card to make!

I hope all of The Creative Crew Gals enjoy my cards this month.  Please be sure to stop in to see what fun crafty cards are posted this month.  All of the blogs can be found on my left sidebar.  Our teammate Lorraine does not have a blog, so please check out her card in her SCS gallery.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the snowy creations this month!

We will be back in February with the image Jeanette will be sending out.   Be sure to check in with us on the 15th to see what fun we  have planned!

Happy New Year

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card. This card is number 56, so we are into year #5. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a very fun group and will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness, I went with a New Year's theme, so I picked a Scrapbook.com two-piece stencil called Starburst.  For the burst layer, I picked Brutus Monroe Glitter Glaze in Perfect Plum.  Then, the stars and circles were made with TCW Stencil Butter in Champagne Gold.

The Happy New Year image is an older single stamp from Stampin' Up.  I used Versamark ink and Brutus Monroe Gilded Gold Embossing Powder on Gorgeous Grape cardstock.  I die cut the image and the Gold Metallic Gold Backer with a set of Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies.  There is a lot of sparkle and shine on this  card--perfect for a Happy New Year Card!

I really like the look of my card and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies like it too!  Here are the links to the other somewhat messy crafters:   Carol, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry.   I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy this month and was successful in making some great cards!   Be sure to check back to see what we are up to in February!

Your Friendship is Greatly Appreciated!

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. This round Jeanette was the hostess and she sent us a sweet Rubbernecker Stamp set called Friend Phrases with Flower.  This is such a pretty image and it has so many pretty sentiments.  So, for January, this is card #113 and we are into year number 10!  I cannot believe this trio has been going strong for 10 plus years!

I colored the floral image with my Copic Sketch Markers and decided they looked a bit like marigolds, so I uad yellows and orange colors. I die cut the image and one of the sweet sentiments with a Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die set.  I decided to stay with a white theme and used a Taylored Expressions Piercing Plate called Diamonds for the background.  I flagged a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock for a banner on the side of the image.  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!  And, I want to thank Jeanette again for the sweet stamp set!  I do celebrate the friendship the three of us share!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  Kelly is up for our February challenge.   Please be sure to join us again.

Love is Kind

This is a card I recently made with one of my most favorite Stampin' Up stamps--Love Is Kind.  It is a single wood mounted stamp and I love the image!  I stamped it on The Paper Cut's Opal Metallic cardstock and it gives the image a bit of a shine.  It also looks a bit blurry as it did bleed just a bit, but that is okay. I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.   I used the Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame die set and layered one of the frames three times from Rose Red cardstock. The background is a Altenew 3D Embossing Folder called Crystal Wall.  I added some Taylored Expressions Pearl Drip Drops.

I also used this same stamp for an upcoming challenge, so be sure to check back later this month!

Mintay Christmas Cards Kit

I am trying very hard to get some of the kits and virtual classes completed that are on my bookshelf.  I have to admit that many are from 2023, but I even have some from 2021 and 2022.  I have more work to do for sure!

Last October,  on my drive to Taylored Expressions Stamp Joy in Des Moines, I made a stop at Scrapmania in Cedar Rapids.  The store is amazing and is one of the largest store with the most inventory I think I have ever seen.  By the checkout, they have a large round display with many kits and classes they offer.  As I waited to check out, this Mintay White Christmas Cards kit caught my eye.  I love Mintay patterned papers and their Christmas line is always so pretty.  This kit was designed by Nancy McClelland and included all of the components for 12 Christmas Cards.  Every card was in a small paper bag and everything was cut out!  I did add an extra layer of cardstock behind the background patterned paper along with an additional layer behind the sweet middle image.  The sentiments were also included but I did substitute my own for a couple.

I now set with a dozen more Christmas cards for 2024!

Pinkfresh Thankful for Friends

Welcome my 1st card for our One Plus Twelve challenge in 2024.  This is year number 6.   For this challenge, we are to use just one stamp, to make a card every month and post on the 3rd of each month.  For this year, I had picked a Pinkfresh Studio set called Thankful for Friends.  The set includes the stamp set, matching die, coordinating stencils and a hot foil plate!   I think this set is so pretty and I will have many options each month.

For my card this month, I used all 4 parts!  I first used the hot foil plate with gold foil on Hammermill cardstock. I then stenciled the floral image with my Taylored Expressions inks on the 4 layers of stencils.  I die cut the image and added 2 more layers of white for added dimension.  The background is an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers called Woven.  I stamped one of the sentiments and used my Taylored Expressions Modern Sentiment labels and backer, using Gold Metallic.  I added some Pinkfresh Studio Metallic Pearls in Gold around the image.

Please be sure to check out the other One plus Twelve cards to see the the stamp sets that Kelly and Jeanette picked out for 2024!  Here is a link to both Jeanette's  and Kelly's blog.   Be sure to come back on February 3rd to see our next set of cards.

Happy New Year

Happy, Happy New Year.  Welcome to 2024!

I wanted to make a card to celebrate and used a fun single Stampin' Up stamp from a number of years ago.  I stamped the image with Versamark and used Brutus Monroe Gilded Gold Embossing Powder on white cardstock.  I die cut the image and a backer of Gorgeous Grape from my Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies.  The background is The Paper Cut's Metallic Gold cardstock and a Taylored Expressions Embossing Folder called Fireworks.  I also added some Stampin' Up Gold Cording behind the image.   There is a lot of shine on this card!

I also used this same stamp for an upcoming challenge, so be sure to check back later this month!
