Ready? Set. Go!

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and that means a Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers (Jeanette, Kelly and I) are back with another challenge this month--our 13th month!  We just finished our first year--so look out year #2!

Kelly provided the challenge for May:  It is based on my daughter's recent wedding--"Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and A Sixpence in your Shoe!"

With the season of weddings upon us, I thought this traditional wedding saying would be a fitting challenge to create a card or project!  This tradition comes from an Old English rhyme and the four objects that the bride adds to her wedding outfit or carries with her on the big day are just good luck charms.  Of course, it is a folk tradition in that, for example, something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity, although this remains largely a British custom.

So this is where your card or project come in!  You may use this saying in any form you like BUT use at least 2 ways to transform this saying into a card.  For example, your card could use a borrowed stamp, one that's old or new ... you can make it in shades of blue .... you get the idea.  It does NOT need to be a wedding card ~ just as long as we see where the (minimum) of 2 things you chose are!
Ready? Set. Go!

I picked out a new stamp set I bought earlier this year, Stampin' Up's Amazing Congratulations.  I have not inked up the set yet--but I have seen many pretty cards.  I paired it with some Stampin' Up DSP for a fun, colorful card.  I used Night of Navy and Bermuda Bay--both shades of blue. The something old is the ribbon that I used on the card--another Stampin' Up product.

I did follow the Something Old, Something New, Something Blue for my card.  I don' t think I met the something borrowed--but I did "borrow" an idea for this card from SCS.  Does that count?  I think it is a great challenge--don't you?

Here is the inside of my card:

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card and that you might too!  I am up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in June! I had better get my thinking cap on and come up with a fun challenge!

A Spring Tweet

It is the 15th of the month and that means I am showing you a new Dueling Darlings card.  For our May Challenge, Paola and Heather are the hostesses! They decided on the theme-A Spring Tweet!   Paola is the one of the Dazzlers and Heather a Diva, the team I am on, and was are all Dueling Darlings!

Heather sent each of the Divas two cute bird images--both by Prickley Pear.  I picked this one, called A Mother's Love, as I think it is so cute.  Heather included some springtime patterned papers and matching embellishments! This sure was a fun card to make!

Here is the inside of my card, with another of piece of the sweet patterned paper:

I hope all of the Darlings enjoy my card this month. Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Divas as well the Dazzlers have created this month.  Carol and Shelly are up for the June theme, so be sure to check back!

May Flowers

This is my card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS.  Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 29th month and the theme for May is "May Flowers".  Last month, we made cards showing off umbrellas, puddles, rain, sunshine, etc., for April Showers.  Well-that brings us to May and now we are showcasing the flowers!  I am sure there will be some wonderful cards this month.

I inked up a newer Stampin' Up set that I had not used at home but had used at my demo Sarah's house called Lots of Lavender.  I love the watercolored look of the bundle.  I also spritzed the image with Wink of Sarah--and if you have been a follower of my blog for the past few months, you know what this is.  It gives the image panel lots of shimmer and again, is perfect for watercolor type images.  I also used my Black Jack ink by Catherine Pooler and I like that it is more gray than black.

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too!  Terry will be posting the June theme today, so be sure to come back in to see what we create!
