Old Crumbs of Cherry Cobbler

This is the 32nd week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. August is to use a Color Challenge from SCS.  Every Tuesday I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge.

I picked Color Challenge #724 for my third card in August.  It is to use Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler.  The title on SCS is Old Crumbs of Cherry Cobbler!

I thought these colors would look nice with some of my new to me Verses anniversary stamps.  I am making some anniversary cards for a friend and this is a great color combo!  I used a Memory Box die to cut a square of Cherry Cobbler to layer over the Old Olive.  The patterned paper is actually a Christmas paper called Deck the Halls.................................

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope you will stop back each Tuesday to see my creation for my A Card a Week Challenge!  Be sure to check back to see my what colors I used for my last card!

Patriotic Bouquet

This is my card for the 45th round of the Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted.   The image for this round was provided by Tracie .  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Vickie, our next hostess in their return envie.  And then we get to do it all again--for round #46--in October!

Tracie sent us this cute image from Two Paper Divas. This is a perfect image to use for any occasion!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations recently or in the next few days.  You can also check out SCS and use the keyword UIS45 to see some posted there.  I hope Tracie and everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!

9th Anniversary

It is the 15th of the month and that means I am showing you a new Dueling Darlings card.  For our August Challenge, Kelly and Jeanette are the hostesses--and they are our leaders!!!!! They decided on the theme-Humorous!   Jeanette is one of the Dazzlers and Kelly is Diva, like me, and we are all Dueling Darlings!  And, we have been doing this since August of 2010--this is our 9th anniversary!

Kelly sent us this sweet Newton's Nook image called Winston's Honeybees.  She included some great sentiments.  She also sent us some pretty patterned paper along with a variety of fun embellishments. This was fun card to make.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope all of the Darlings enjoy my card this month. Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Divas as well the Dazzlers have created this month. We will be here in September, so be sure to check back!  Judy and Donna are the hostesses for September!

There are a few members who do not have blogs:  Suzy and Terry S who both are on the Diva team and Debby who is a Dazzlers.  You will be able to check out their creations in their SCS gallery, if you click on the link for their name.  All of the others should be found on my left sidebar.  I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!

Uncharted Territory

This is the 31st week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. August is to use a Color Challenge from SCS.  Every Tuesday I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge.

I picked Color Challenge #745 for my second card in August.  It is to use Real Red, Blueberry Bushel and Whisper White.  The title on SCS is Real Blueberries in a White Bushel.

I thought these would be great for a masculine card and I thought of a nautical theme.  I used an older Stampin' Up set, Uncharted Territory and paired it with Maritime Designer Series Paper.

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope you will stop back each Tuesday to see my creation for my A Card a Week Challenge!  Check back for the rest of the Tuesdays in August for my SCS color challenge.  Be sure to check back to see my what colors I used for my next card!

Hot Mess ~ Success Debuts

Welcome to another fun group that I am blessed to be a part of.  The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success started with Kelly recently making a card and using the #hotmess on her Instagram post.  As we were texting back and forth, she said we should come up with a new group and she volunteered me to set it up! I then asked Jeanette, part of our other three groups to join us in this challenge and I also asked Terry if she wanted to be a part of the messiness!  So--we are a group of 4 and we will post a card each month on the 12th.  The general theme is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  Most months there will not be a theme--like our inaugural month of August!   But, some times one of us might toss out a challenge for the group--so stay tuned!

For this month's messiness, I went way back to a technique that I used 12-15 years ago--Shaving Cream and Re-inkers! I know most of you have done this at one time and you do know that it is messy!  Here are some photos to prove that:

I used 4 primary colors of Stampin' Up re-inkers--Real Red, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight and Garden Green.  The final picture shows how messy this technique was.  Yes, that is a stamp set laying on top of one of the backgrounds--full of shaving cream.  I went to get a paper towel and knocked over the plastic bin with my design team stamps from The Project Bin and one fell right on the card.  And, a few others also got inky shaving cream on them!  I will have a colorful reminder of my first hot mess!

Here are some of the completed card fronts. The top ones on the right were the first ones and the color is very vivid. I used a plastic hotel key to wipe the inked shaving cream on the cards in the right photograph.  I like the subtle look of those.

Here is another look at my card and the inside of my card:

Here is another card I made with one of the backgrounds:

For the front of both cards, I used a die and metallic cardstock.

Here are the links to the other members of Hot Mess ~ Success.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's and Kelly's blogs. I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy and was successful in making some great cards! We will all be back each month, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on October 12th!

Coffee and Chocolate!

It is the 11th of the month and that means it is time for my card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS--or it was to be posted on the 10th, but I had another card to post.  Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 43rd month and the theme for August is "Guilty Pleasures".

I went with a perfect sentiment by Crackerbox Palace Stamps that has two of my favorite guilty pleasures listed!  I do love my coffee or latte every morning and indulge on chocolate a bit too often.............  I am sure there will be some wonderful cards this month.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has already posted the September theme.  Be sure to come back in to see what we create!
