First Love

Today is third Wednesday of the month and this is my Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers--Kelly, Jeanette and me--are back with another challenge for September-our 28th month!  That means we are well into our third year--YAY!

I provided the challenge for September: I checked a site and saw that September 18th,  our posting date, is National First Love Day!  Who Knew there was such a day?!   This is what the website says:  Ah, young romance! The springtime of life, when our fullest fancies first turn to thoughts of love (to paraphrase Alfred, Lord Tennyson). September 18 is National First Love Day, and we welcome the holiday with open arms — much like we welcomed our first boyfriend or girlfriend.  Do you remember your first love? Most people do, even if — or perhaps especially if — that love was unrequited, and the memory carries with it a sort of sweet melancholy. National First Love Day is a time to celebrate the youthful vigor and boundless energy that carried us through our early romances, setting the stage for all that followed. Who was your first love? Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

So here’s the September theme or challenge:  Pick a first love-it might be the person you have married, or your first child, a movie you just love to watch, or your first trip abroad, the book you love to read, or your first kiss, etc.  Pick something that you remember as a “first love”.  Design a card or another project that showcases your first love.

Ready? Set? Go!

I thought and thought and thought a bit more............... What do I remember as a first love and one that I have a stamp to showcase.  So--back to my childhood and my Blue Huffy--my first bike!  I vividly remember getting it and it was love at first sight.  I am not sure how old I was, but I remember riding to the corner and back.  That was as far as I was allowed at the beginning.  But, I remember riding farther and farther every year and I loved the freedom.  Except the one time I fell on the side road by us that by us, coming down the hill, and washing gravel out of my knees and elbows!

My card shows an old fashion bike and I am not that old!  But, I love this image and somehow it reminds me of my Blue Huffy--with Streamers!

Here is the inside of my card.

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card.  Jeanette is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in October!

Pumpkin Quilt

This is the 35th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. September is to pick the most recent Featured Stamper from SCS and go to their gallery to CASE a card.  Every Tuesday in September, I will pick a different featured stamper for my monthly challenge.

For the week of September 15th, Laura, Blackbirdcreations was the Featured Stamper 658.  Laura has some fun cards and I picked this quilt card to CASE:

I have a quilt die from Gina Marie Designs called Pumpkin Quilt.  Since Laura made her card in the spring for Easter, I thought I would make a fall card.    I used Stampin' Up Color Me Autumn Designer Series paper to fill in all of the components.  It sure is a bit of a fussy card to make................

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope you will stop back each Tuesday to see my creation for my A Card a Week Challenge!  Be sure to check back to see which SCS Featured Stampers I highlight in September. I am sure there will be some fun cards to chose from!

Colorful Rainbow

It is time for another Hot Mess card. This is card number 2, so I think I will highlight the theme again.   The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success started with Kelly recently making a card and using the #hotmess on her Instagram post.  As we were texting back and forth, she said we should come up with a new group and she volunteered me to set it up! I then asked Jeanette, part of our other three groups to join us in this challenge and I also asked Terry if she wanted to be a part of the messiness!  So--we are a group of 4 and we will post a card each month on the 12th.  The general theme is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  Most months there will not be a theme--like our inaugural month of August!   But, some times one of us might toss out a challenge for the group--so stay tuned!

Side Note--you are sure to realize that today is not the 12th and above I state we will post every month on the 12th.  Well--I messed up in the Hot Mess Group.  We posted on the 12th last month, our first month, and it was also the 2nd Monday of the month.  For September, I was thinking we post on the 2nd Monday, which was the 9th.  Jeanette, Kelly and I post our 3 Musketeers on the 9th, so I asked to move it back a week.  I did not realize until I copied the details from last month for this post, that it was to stay on the 12th every month.  Yes, Hot Mess for Me!

For this month's messiness, I used some colors of the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse that I recently bought.  I also used a great stencil from A Colorful Life called Bare Rainbow.  They have some wonderful stencils, so please check them out!  I used blender brush to lay down the color on the stencil.  That was my second try.  The first time I used a spatula and with the lines of the rainbow, it was hard to control.  I like the smooth look from the brushes too.  I then just added a die cut from MFT from silver metallic along with a few silver sequins.

Here is the inside of my card:

Here are the links to the other members of Hot Mess ~ Success.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's and Kelly's blogs. I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy and was successful in making some great cards! We will all be back each month, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on October 12th!  And, yes, it will be on the 12th!

It is the 15th of the month and that means I am showing you a new Dueling Darlings card.  For our September Challenge, Donna and Judy are the hostesses. They decided on the theme-Babies!   Donna is one of the Dazzlers and Judy is Diva, like me, and we are all Dueling Darlings!  And, we have been doing this since August of 2010--so we are into our 9th year!

Judy sent us this sweet B is For Baby from Hanna Stamps.  She included the sweet sentiment that you will see in the inside.  She also sent us some pretty patterned paper along with a variety of fun embellishments. This was fun card to make.

Paper Strips!

It is the 11th of the month and that means it is time for my card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS--or it was to be posted on the 10th, but I had another card to post.  Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 44th month and the theme for September is "Paper Strips".

I went with a fun Whipper Snapper Designs sentiment and used some of my Stampin' Up Coffee Break Designer Series Paper Strips!  I do love my coffee or latte every morning!   I am sure there will be some wonderful cards this month.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has already posted the October theme.  Be sure to come back in to see what we create!

Double Triangle

This is the 34th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. September is to pick the most recent Featured Stamper from SCS and go to their gallery to CASE a card.  Every Tuesday in September, I will pick a different featured stamper for my monthly challenge.

For the week of September 8th, Rebecca, Rlsnyder, was the Featured Stamper 657.  Rebecca has some fun cards and I picked this double triangle card to CASE:

I went with card as we made a sympathy card with the same fold in a Fancy Fold class on Monday at my demo Sarah's house.  I thought the fall colors would be perfect for another sympathy card.

Here is the way the card opens:

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.

3 Musketeers

It is time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the image that I sent for September--for Card #61!  That means we nearing the end of year #5--can you believe that?!  All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time!  Kelly will be up next for the October challenge.  Be sure to come back to see what we create!

For our card this month, I sent Kelly and Jeanette this pretty Stargazer Lily Bouquet image from Taylored Expressions, along with three sentiments that are also included in the stamp set.  I sent one on a quarter sheet and also one that I die cut with the coordinating die.

I used the die cut image along with one of the sentiments.   I colored the image with my Copic Markers and layered it over a Stampin' Up doily.  The background is a We R Memory Keepers embossing folder called Geometric.  I hope you enjoy my card!

Here is the inside of my card:

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  They may post today or tomorrow, so be sure to check out their blogs for their card!
