Greenhouse Society-Daffodils

Happy Saturday!   This is the first post for a new challenge for 2022.  My friend Jeanette has been a part of the Greenhouse Society from Technique Tuesday for a few years.  I have looked at the subscription in the past and decided that I would try it for 2022, so I signed up in January.  I joined the floral stamp and die club and received my first package a bit ago.  Each month, I will make a card with the floral image and die, then post here.  So--here is January's Daffodils Stamp and Die, along with one of the sweet sentiment.  

I colored the sweet daffodil image with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  I also stamped one of the sentiment and die cut it with my Stampin' Up Stitched So Sweetly set. The dotted background paper is from Echo Park Paper Spring line called Becoming Butterflies.  I added some yellow baker's twine and a few green enamel dots.

I really like this sweet set and especially the coordinating die.  The sentiments in the set are also nice and I know I will use this set more in the spring.  I am excited to see what set I receive in February, so stay tuned to see that card. Sending Healing Thoughts

This is my One Plus Twelve card for February!  This was the brainchild of Kelly and she asked Jeanette and me to join her in this challenge in 2019. We are to use just one stamp, to make a card every month and post on the 3rd of each month.  It was so much fun that the three of decided to continue for our fourth year and pick a new image to use.

For 2022, I picked newer Stampin' Up set called Nature's Harvest.  I think this set is so pretty and I picked the largest coneflower or sunflower image to use each month.  There is also a coordinating die set called Harvest so I can use that some months too.

For my card, I stamped the image and then colored it with my Copic Sketch markers. I die cut the image along with one of the sentiments in this sweet set. The background was embossed with a sweet folder from Stampin' Up called Pinewood Planks. I also used two panels from Stampin' Ups Frosted Floral Designer Series Paper Pack.   I added a few purple enamel dots along with some linen thread for the final touch!

TE Tuesdays

Wait--you say today is not a Tuesday?  Well, it is the last day of the month and I have not posted a card for January for one of my 2022 Monthly Challenges.  I am challenging myself this year to make a card once a month using one of the many Taylored Expressions stamp sets that I have and am called it TE Tuesdays!  But, I ran out of time and ran out of Tuesdays, but it is still January, so here it is!

The stamp and die set that I picked to use is called Sending Sunshine.  It includes the word Sending die along with a backer.  There is also a bunch of smaller sentiments in the set. I seem to need more Get Well cards this past year or so.  It was a fun and quick way to make a few for my stash.  I die cut the word Sending from Mint Macaron and the backer from Mossy Meadow.  I layered the word three times. The sentiment was flagged on then ends and layered over a strip of the fun Designer Series Paper called Birthday Bouquet.  The background is from the same patterned paper pack.   I did not add any embellishments, as the paper is busy enough.

I hope you like my Taylored Expressions card, though it is a day early or a month late!  I will be back in February for another card using my fun TE stamps!

Stampin' Up Sundays!

Today is a Sunday and the start of one of my new personal challenges for 2022-Stampin' Up Sundays!  At least once a month, I will be posting a card made with one of my many Stampin' Up stamp sets!  Yes, I waited until the last Sunday of the month for January, but I made it!

This month, I made a card using the new to me stamp set called Driving By.  I got this set last week as a part of a Virtual Bingo, hosted by my demo Sarah.  We made three cards with the stamp set and played 6 games of Bingo.  I had very bad Bingo cards and did not win a thing!  Sarah was very generous and there were 5 awesome stamp or die bundles as prizes along with a gift certificate for a future order.  My second card was very bad--I had 7 numbers covered including the free space, when Bingo was called by someone else.  I had 2 entire columns with a number called!  But--it as great fun and we did make 3 sweet cards.

This card is similar to one of the cards we made.  I stamped the image and one of the sentiments on the white panel.  I stamped the cut car another piece of white, which I colored with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I fuzzy cut that image and popped it over the car on the panel. The strips of patterned paper are from an older pack of DSP called Kaleidoscope.  The background panel was embossed with a Stampin' Up folder called Maps.  I also added some Bermuda Bay enamel dots!

At Home With Gnomes

Today I am showing you my January card for my monthly challenge for 2022--At Home With Gnomes. Each month in 2021, I created a card using one of my many gnome images. So, I knew it will continue into 2022 as I have more gnome stamps to use. AND--some that have already been stamped are too dang cute to not use again!

For this card, I picked a gnome stamp from a very fun set from Rubbernecker's Garden Gnomes Set. They are not all garden related and I knew I wanted a Valentine related card.  I colored one of the sweet gnomes from the set with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I stamped one of the fun images and die cut it along with a layer from a set of Spellbinders Nestabilities Circles.  The background paper is from a Bella Blvd-Illustrated Faith line called You are Loved--Heart a Flutter!  There is also a strip of pink satin ribbon.  I added some Taylored Expressions Bits & Pieces hears in red, pink and white for the final touch!

I have a Dream!

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 61st month of de-stash, so we are starting our 6th year of challenges.  We are for sure continuing in 2022 as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Jenn posted our January challenge--I have a dream!

I used another stamp set from Unity this month called It's Your Choice. This is the third month in a row I have used a Unity stamp!  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I die cut the image with my Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Ovals. My background is a fun embossing folder from Anna Griffin and Cuttlebug called Matelassé. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  I added some green enamel dots for the final touch.

Stamping Sisters Winter Camp 2022--Day 4

Can you believe it?  We are at day 4 and the final day of camp!  This is the brainchild of my good friend Kelly and when she asked three of us to join her at camp, we all jumped (slightly over an inch) and said YES!  And, it is the third time we have been camping together--Summer of 2020 (boy that one was hot!) and winter 2021--brrrr!  I am not sure what happened to the summer of 2021, but we are here now!

Darlene sent each of us each 2 fun colors of Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polish, made by Creative Expressions, a UK company.   Thanks so much for sending this to each of us--so generous!   I had not see this product before and was excited to try it out.  Darlene raved about it, so before I even opened the ones she sent, I was off to JoAnn's website to order a few more colors.  Gotta have options, right?! 

So, please check out Darlene's blog to get all of the details on how to do this fun fold with sweet stenciling with Metallic Gilding Polish!  The fold is a form of a bridge fold and does lay flat for mailing.  The colors of the polish Darlene sent to me are Purple Mist and Silver Dream.  I applied the Silver Dream on two panels and set them aside to dry.  It only takes a few minutes to dry!  I then cut one of the sheets into panels for the three side of my "box".  I then picked a Gina K Designs stencil called Water Droplets and placed it over the three sections. I did use Pixie Spray on the back of my stencil and it did not harm the polished piece when I picked it up.  I added the layer of Purple Mist with the stencil and again used the brush inside of the cap of the Polish. I then trimmed the panels to fit the base of the card, using the measurements in Darlene's post.  I layered some purple Stardream Metallic cardstock behind the stenciled layer for a bit more shine--though the entire panel is already shiny!  I used a Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs die called Chunky Hello for the front panel.  The word is die cut from 2 leftover pieces of the silver polish and the backer is the Stardream Metallic.  I added some Gina K Designs Angel Aura Rhinestones as a final touch!   I have not added anything to the right panel as I am not sure what the occasion will be for this card.  Options!

Stamping Sisters Winter Camp 2022--Day 3

Hello Friends and Stamping Sisters.  Are you enjoying our camp this week?  This is day 3 and I am up as the counselor.

My card is pretty simple and I think fun to make.  But, I do have a lot of pictures and instructions to help you understand better what we are doing.  This is called Faux Tile Backsplash!  Your supply list will include: two colors of cardstock, Score Tape, Versamark Ink, Clear Embossing Powder, a Heat Gun, a Bone Folder, a Paper Trimmer and whatever stamp and or die you want on your card.  Optional is a die that cuts strips or use your paper trimmer.

First, pick out two colors of cardstock you want as your background.  I went with black and blue, as I wanted a more masculine card.  Cut with your trimmer or use a strip die if you have one, both colors into 1/2" strips.  I have about 10 of each color, about 8 inches long.  I used a die from my Simon Says Stamp Strips 1 set

Then, take a piece of cardstock, any color will work as it will be completely covered, and put a heavy duty tape on all 4 sides.   I used Score-tape.  Be sure to burnish it with your bone folder so it is fully attached.

Take the backing of the tape off of the "top" of the panel--leaving the backing on the other 3 sides.  Place strips on color on the exposed score tape, going all the way across the panel.  Be sure they are tight and touching each other.  You can also burnish the strips on the top row of tape.  Again, do not remove any tape from the other 3 sides yet!

Now-take the second color and weave every other alternate strip. Be sure to push them up along the way, so they are tight.  You might see some edges from using your nails to push and that is okay as it will not show in the end.  Be sure to keep them straight or as straight as possible!

 

When complete, you will then remove the backing from the tape on the sides, as well as the bottom.  Again, burnish if needed.   You will then see you need to glue down the flaps on the edges that are not attached with the tape.  Then, you can trim off all of the extra edges.  I used a scissor, but a paper trimmer also works.

Now, we are ready for the shine!    Take your Versamark pad and ink up the entire panel.  I have my woven panel on a silicone mat--but you can use paper or anything that you can use your heat gun on. After the layer of ink is all over the panel, then dump on your clear embossing powder. 

Here is a picture of my covered card and what it looks like when using your heat gun.  Be sure to move your heat gun all around and heat from all 4 sides as the powder will settle between the weaves.

Now, add a second layer of embossing powder for even more shine--it then looks more like tile!  The second photo shows the shine after the second layer of powder!

  

Here is my completed panel, which I layered on another brilliant blue layer and the black card base. Look at all of that shine!

My stamped image is an older Stampin' Up single stamp called Sail Away.  I stamped it with Night of Navy and die cut with also an older Spellbinders Nestabilities die set called Layers Small and Large.
