Merry & Bright

This is my October Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  We are on year #7. We will continue as we have in the past with each month a new hostess gives us a scripture and challenges us to make a card with that theme. 

Sharon is the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Challenge:  A color challenge to use silver and gold on your card, and bonus points if you use an apple. You can use other colors, too, not limited to gold and silver.

I tried to find a stamp set to get bonus points with an apple, but that failed.  So, I thought a Christmas Card using gold and silver would be fun.  I picked my Waffle Flower Oversize Merry stamp set and decided to do heat embossing with my metallic powders.  I stamped the words with Versamark and used gold embossing powder on Merry and silver on & bright.  I then die cut the word Merry with the coordinating die and layered it three times for dimension.  The background paper is Stampin' Up's Year of Cheer.   I used Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 to cut the background and a silver layer.   I added some rhinestones in the middle of the large snowflakes for a bit of bling!

Autumn Thank You

This is my One Plus Twelve card for October! We are to use just one stamp, to make a card every month and post on the 3rd of each month.  For 2022, I picked newer Stampin' Up set called Nature's Harvest.  I think this set is so pretty and I picked the largest coneflower or sunflower image to use each month.  There is also a coordinating die set called Harvest so I can use that some months too.

For my card this month, I colored the image with my Copic Sketch markers and used the matching die to cut out the floral image.  I layered the image on an embossed panel--my favorite from Stampin' Up-Pinewood Planks.  I also embossed a Mossy Meadow strip with a We R Memory Keepers Woven Folder and added some Stampin' Up Braided Linen Trim.  The sentiment is again from the same stamp set and was cut with one of the dies, also in the set.   I did add a few green enamel dots for the final touch.

Paper Pieced Flowers

 Today I am posting a card for a SCS Challenge by Misti Monday.  The theme this month is paper piecing.  I do like the look, but do not do it often enough!

I picked a floral stamp from Stampin' Up called Forever & Always. It also has a matching die set and I love that it also cuts the coordinating words.  I stamped both of the flowers on some Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper from the Color Me Autumn package.  The background paper is from the same set. I then die cut both of the floral images.  I also stamped some leaves and die cut them too. Some twine and green enamel dot are the final touch!

Autumn Thank You

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 69th month of de-stash, so we are getting to the end of our 6th year of challenges. I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Vickie posted our September challenge--Autumn Leaves.  Use a leaf or leaves  on your card or project.

I recently received an order from Impression Obsession Stamps with some fun dies and a sweet 6x6 patterned paper package called Autumn Scenes!  Perfect--so I broke it out and created a thank you card.  I am on a mission the past month or so to create thank you cards for the Stewardship Team that I am on at my church.  We started sending a handmade card--by me--in 2020 to all members who returned their pledge card.  I think we have sent about 75-80 the past 2 years, so I need to make that number again as I have depleted my stash of those kinds of cards.  I also want them to be pretty flat for mailing since there are a couple of us who write the notes and mail.  

I picked a fun pattern of leaves for the background and die cut the Thank You words three times for some dimension.  I added a layer of vellum for a softer look behind the words.  The orange enamel dots are the final touch!

Double Duty Impression Obsession

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 21st month, so we are in the toward to end year #2.  

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For September, the company we are using is Impression Obsession.  First, a bit of an admission.....................  I made these cards on Tuesday night during a virtual class that Sarah, from The Paper Cut, did using Impression Obsession products.  It is a coincidence that the company that Sarah partnered with was IO--but since I did not have any cards done or even planned for this month, I feel it is divine intervention.  Impression Obsession has many fn products--stamps, dies, inks, stencils, etc.  I even placed an order Tuesday night as there were some fun dies and a layered stencil that I wanted. These cards showcase two holiday stencils from IO called Poinsettia and Christmas Tree Stars. The words Merry Christmas are also IO dies from the Typewriter Sentiments set.  Yes, I did not use a stamp this month so that might be considered another cheat, but it is what it is!!!!!!!!!!

For the cards on the top, these were ink blended with each of the stencils.  The bottom two cards also used the stencils, but I applied Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste.  The Warm Winter Wishes die is from The Paper Cut as is all of the fun cardstocks! Some are metallics and others are sweet colors!  These were by no means my designs--I thank Sarah for her creativity and making the kits for us in class.  

So again, I had a number of Double Duty elements on these cards. I used two stencils on each set of cards.  I used the Merry Christmas words on the Opal/Red cards and Warm Winter Wishes on the Peacock/White cards.  Each of the 4 cards also have 3 layers on the scored card base.  Rhinestones were the final touch on all of the cards!

It's a Free For All

 

Today is the 15th and that means the Dueling Darlings are back to post their fun cards!  This group was founded 10 years ago and there are a few of us that are the original members.  Kelly and Jeanette are still our team leaders and they try so hard to keep us all in line and going strong!  On team Kelly are Terry, Carol and me.  Team Jeanette consists of Lorraine, Darlene and Tracie.  And, we are all Dueling Darlings!  

This month the kits were sent by Terry and Darlene!  The theme is "It's a Free For All! Darlene and Terry sent out a sweet kit.  They decided to share some stamps that they have received free from some of their favorite stamp companies   Terry sent each of  us a sweet Altenew stamp set.  In fact I received two kits as the first one took the scenic route to my house from Terry's who lives just over an hour away from me! She sent a second kit and of course, they both arrived on the same day!  So--I had options for the stamp set and I picked Carved Rose! Terry also sent some cute patterned paper from The Paper Studio and a whole bunch of fun ribbons and embellishments.  

I stamped the rose with Real Red and then also stamped and cut another rose from Gina K's Masking Magic.  I then stamped the leaves with Garden Green. I stamped the sentiments from the same set.   I die cut the image and black backer with Gina Marie Designs Criss Crossed Circles. I picked an Altenew Embossing Folder called Floating Foliage for the background.  I used the white grosgrain ribbon Terry included for the bow.   The final touch was adding some rhinestones around the image.  This was fun card to make!  Thank you Terry for sending me a sweet Altenew stamp set, or two...........................

Hot Mess Smiles!

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.  This is card number 40, so we are into year #4. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success started with Kelly and the general theme is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a group of 6 and we will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other 5 members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness I went back to one of my favorite and messy techniques--using Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks!  I thought the colors looked like a stormy sky or even water and waves.    So--I grabbed my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 5 and die cut the window and frame.   I die cut the inked panel and navy layer with my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2.  I then picked a perfect sentiment from Taylored Anytime Expressions and I think it is perfect for a friend as you might be gazing out of a window.  I die cut the sentiment from another Gina K Master Layouts, this time #4.  Three different Gina K Master Layouts on this card--record for me!  I did not add any bling as I wanted a more clean and simple card!

I really like the look of this card and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies liked them too!

It is time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the image from CC Designs called Scarecrow Henry that Jeanette sent out for our September card, #97! That means we are in the middle of year number 7 with this fun challenge! All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time! 

I think this is a cute image--he makes me smile!    I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I added the sentiment from the Stampin' Up set called Falling for Leaves. The background paper is from Imagense and has  bunch of fall words and sayings--love the colors!  I added some brown jewels from The Ton for the final touch!   I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Teachers Rule

This is my September Crafters of Faith card.  This is a great group that my friend Kelly started on SCS.  She hosted for 5 years and now Faith has taken over for year #7. We will continue as we have in the past with each month a new hostess gives us a scripture and challenges us to make a card with that theme. 

I am actually the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:   Proverbs 9:9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

Challenge: Pease make a card that reflects school or a teacher. Or, something that you remember from when you were in school--any age!

I have a fun set from Art Impressions called Teachers Rule that I got used at a craft rummage sale in the past year or so.  Being a retired teacher, I love this set and have already used it a few times.  It makes great teacher cards and fun cards for other occasions too! I think this card can be for a birthday as it refers to 29 again, or for a veteran teacher heading back to school.  I colored the fun lady with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut the image along with a black backer from Gina Marie Stitched Circle Dies.   The background papers are from an Echo Park Paper line called Paper & Glue--Journaling Cards.  I added a few banners punched with my Stampin' Up Mini Banner Punch.

Nature's Harvest

This is my One Plus Twelve card for September! For my card this month, I colored the image with my Copic Sketch markers and used the matching die to cut out the floral image.  I then used a partial panel that I had from an event earlier this year where I layered 5 strips fall colors on a piece of Sticky Sheet.  I had die cut Happy Fall from one end and had enough left to layer behind an oval cut from Early Espresso.   I then embossed that panel with a new to me Altenew Playful Circles 3-D embossing folder--recommended by Jennifer McGuire!  The sentiment is again from the same stamp set and I added natural trim from Stampin' Up behind it.  I did not add any bling as I like the layers and dimension on this card!

Kaleidoscope Rainbow

I have been going through a basket with many backgrounds that I have made classes or when I just make a few to keep on hand!  This one was made during a Taylored Expressions event and it is of course Rainbow!  

The background was die cut with a Taylored Expressions Kaleidoscope Cutting Plate.  I then was left with a stencil that was blended with Taylored Expressions inks.  I then picked a large sentiment die from Lawn Fawn called Giant Thank You!   The sentiment was die cut 3 times from white cardstock and layered for dimension.  I added some Stampin' Up Opal Rounds Enamel Dots for a bit of bling.  I think this is a cute card--another thank you card for my stash!
