We are honoring Melina!

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with another challenge of the Crafty Gals! We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.

This year our challenges are going to be a bit different. Each month, Melina will chose one of our group to highlight and our challenge is to CASE a card from her blog—or make a card that highlights some of her loves. This month the person to CASE is our founder--Melina!  Here is a link to her blog.

So since Melina did not post any details about what she likes to make, you really need to go and check out her blog to see some of her awesome work.  She does love to make scrapbook pages--and I love to look at them!  She does awesome work!

 

But--I did find a wonderful card to CASE and I went over and above--I love it so much that I made two of them!

No Matter How Old You Get

This is the third of the three cards I made for Nichole's birthday swap she is hosted on SCS. I love making birthday cards--one of the reasons I took three spots.  I also send out usually 20 or more each month as I am one of the coordinators of the BRAK Volunteers on SCS.  We send out birthday cards each month to members of the RAK forum.

I love this line of stamps and this sentiment just puts a huge smile on my face!

It probably is pretty easy to know what song inspired my card this week--did you guess it?  Well--did you know why I chose that song?  I know some of you do and it is a special day--My Birthday!  And--it is a pretty special one;  meaning I get to go into a new decade this year.  Many of you know that I am retired a few years ago from teaching, so you can probably figure out how old I am.  And--there is one special person who visits my blog regularly and chats with me and at me on SCS--who reminds me often that I am older than dirt!  I feel good about this big number--does not bother me one bit!

 

I used a Eureka stamp that I think is so pretty.  I colored the image with my Copic Markers and I also used the same color to add some purple to the rhinestones in the corner.  I also really like the embossing folder as a background.

Crafters of Faith ~ September Challenge

 

 

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!

I used a favorite stamp to make a wedding card.  It will be used as my roomie's nephew is getting married to a wonderful women in October and I am sure they will both like the card!  I heat embossed in gold the outside of the card.

Calendar Girls Birthday Wishes!

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Terry is our hostess this month and this is what she wrote for us to follow:  

September is a month full of changes. From the leaves on the trees changing colors, to me changing how old I am.

My challenge to you is to use the attached sketch to create a birthday card. Your card can be for a male or a female but it needs to include one type of embossing....can be dry embossed cardstock or a wet embossed image, your choice!

Have fun with it and create something wonderful!

I decided to go with a simple layout for this card as I wanted the image to be the focal point.  I only used a strip of patterned paper along with a fiber for trim.

Woo Hoo Birthday!

Old Mailbox Gate-fold Challenge Card

This is a the card that I am entering in a card contest for stamp show that is coming to Milwaukee.  The show tomorrow and the cards were due to the sponsor last Monday.  The theme is mailboxes and I used a digital stamp for this card. 

There are three winners chosen and each person gets show dollars to spend at the  that day at the stamp show.  Top prize is $100--wish me luck!   I made card is on Friday, the 13th, so that will bring me extra good luck!  I won two free tickets to this stamp show earlier this year--so maybe that is an omen that one of the two cards I am creating will be a winner! 

I really like making gate-fold cards and I tried a new way to make the flap by using ovals as the base.

Red Hat Hoots!

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our second cycle.   April is the hostess this month and she chose some cute Unity images   April will swap the cards--then send us the next image,  which Paola is going to sent to her.  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same image. Then everyone gets to do it all over again!   

When I got this set of images--the owl, party hat and sentiment, I knew right away I wanted to do a Red Hat Lady themed card.  I have some great red hat patterned paper that I have not used in a long time, so I dug it out and created a gate fold card.  I kept the embellishments to a minimum on the front to showcase the great ladies in purple dresses and their awesome assortment of red hats.
