Happy Memorial Day!

This is a perfect for what we did this Memorial Day Weekend—worked in the gardens.  I made this card for a swap on SCS.  Riley likes playing in the dirt and we did this weekend too.  We planted the vege garden and also planted some of the flower and herb plants that we started from seeds under grown lights in the house.

May Shapes and the Calendar Girls

Front of my Flap Card

These pictures show the flap opened as well as the inside of the card.

Welcome to round #6 with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.

This month hostess is Me!  Here is the challenge I posted:

The month of May can bring many things—Mother’s Day, Graduation, Prom, Memorial Day—all are wonderful events. However, May does bring one thing to mind—Skin. You know—like short sleeved tops, capris, shorts, flip flops/sandals, sundresses—all things that bring a frightful thought to our mind as our body is not in shape to show skin. So, let’s Shape Up. No—not running, biking, weights, but cards that have a different shape. So, your May card is to be a Shutter Card, Side Step Card, Gate Fold, Easel Card, Joy Fold, Criss Cross, etc. Any shape works—but to be true to the challenges we have had in the past—try a new shape that you have not used recently or really take a leap and try a design that you have never done before! The theme of the card can be for any event that happens before posting our next Challenge by the Charming Carol on June 28th—a birthday, wedding, shower, etc.

So, are you ready to take the challenge? Are you ready to Shape Up? Are you ready to show some skin--just kidding................

I hope you like this challenge and that you do trying a new shape in your card making or dust off a technique that you have not done in a long time. And, most of all--- Have Fun!!!

I made a flap card and yes, I have never made one in the past.  I needed to dig out my Creative Memories circle shape and cutter to make the top.  There is a small magnet between the layers holding the flap in place.  I made a card that can be used for a graduation card, Father’s Day or any birthday.

So, here is my flap card for the shape-up:

Please check out the blogs of all of the Calendar Girls—there are 10 of us and all of the blogs are listed on my left sidebar.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the shapes of the May creations.

I hope you enjoy looking at our cards!  Thanks for joining us!!!!!!!

May Stamp Club Swap Card--Sympathy Joy Fold

This was to be posted a week ago, but when Blogger went down, it was skipped.  Hope you like it.

This is the front of the card, with the punched out butterfly, mounted on a Centainly Celery Oval.

This view shows the panel opened and the one below is the inside of the card.

This card was my swap card for Wednesday night’s Stamp Club—the theme was Sympathy or Get Well.  Since I have been on a roll lately making fancy fold cards, I thought I would do a joy fold for swap.  I left the inside blank, so someone could add a white piece to write on or write directly on the designer paper.

Dueling Darling Divas May Card ~ The Perfect Blend--Admiration!

Here is my card for round #10 of our very friendly battle—not really much of a battle—more of a small clash…………………

What are the Dueling Darlings?  We are a group of friends that met on SCS, travel in each other's swaps and have taken a new twist on crafting to "duel"! We, the Dueling Darling Divas, have one image/card kit to work with and the other half, the Dueling Darling Dazzlers, have a different image/card kit with the same theme! The object is to see what we came up with using this theme, what image was picked and how the Divas/Dazzlers created with it!

The theme this month is “The Perfect Blend”.  The hostess this month for the Divas is Carol, who sent us many wonderful supplies to choose from. This month there is a twist—we are celebrating our charming team leaders.  Jeannette is being honored by the Dazzlers and I am giving a huge shout-out to the Diva’s leader—Kelly!  Though I have not met Kelly in person (not yet at least), I consider her a very good friend.  She has had some huge struggles in the past year or so with health issues in her family and most recently with her dog Brandy.  With all of these issues happening all around her, she always has a cheerful comment on the threads on SCS and I can see a smile on her face every single day.  She is always leaving sweet comments on the cards that I have made and is always soooooo encouraging!  I truly admire her as a great mom to her wonderful children and a creative lady in her papercrafting.  I also want to add a short note about how sweet and wonderful Jeanette.  I have had the priviledge of meeting her this past February and she is awesome--so kind, warm, friendly, caring, funny and I too consider her a wonderful friend.  Love Ya Both!  And, we do know that both Kelly and Jeanette love their “Bux”-Starbucks, so the theme this month is centered around coffee.  This is such a great theme and I am so looking forward to see the other creations as well as reading what all of the Darlings have written about Kelly and Jeanette!  And, to hear how surprised--we hope--that they are the center of our blogs today!

Please be sure to stop in to see what all of the Divas created and then your final stop will be a link to take you to see what the Dazzlers have fashioned!

Barb:  You are here!

AND--now for the Dazzlers:  Please start at Jeanette's blog and enjoy the travels through the other blogs.  Thanks for joining us!!!!!!

April Showers bring May Flowers Swap Card #2

This is the second card that I made for Viv’s swap on SCS—the theme is April Showers brings May Flowers. I have used this line of stamps before and really liked the image that they produce and the look when stamped.   However, I did not realize until the cards were done and I was getting the information together for this post, that the name of the stamp is Poinsettia Collage.........................  Sure could not tell--looks like a lilly to me!

April Showers bring May Flowers Swap Card

This card is for Viv’s swap on SCS—the theme is April Showers brings May Flowers.  I have many flower stamps and had to choose only one, as I really love gardening. I used a Clear Gelly Roll pen to add shimmer to the middle of the flowers. I also used my watercolor crayons and I do not remember the last time I colored with them—I really need to use them more often.
