Jump for Joy

This is my card for a swap called the SIS--Surprise Image Swap.   This is card #20 for our group.  It is a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The surprise part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--the 18th of every other month.  This sweet image for this round was provided by Jody!  She will swap the cards and include the new image for round #21 that Janet will have stamped in each return envie. Then--we do it all again in June!

Jody sent us this cute frog image from Penny Black called Jump for Joy.   Jody's word of the year is Joy and she mentioned she uses this image often.  I picked my background patterned paper called Spring is Calling--perfect for this card!  I then colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I die cut the panel with a MFT-My Favorite Things Stitched Tag Corner Rectangle Die.  I put a strip of Black Grosgrain Ribbon behind the image. I used Gina K Master Layouts 2 for the patterned paper and the backer. I added some Trinity Stamps Aquamarine Ripple Gems. This was a fun card to make!

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations.  The due date is today, the 18th, or they may post in the upcoming days. You can also check out SCS and use the keyword SIS20 to see some posted there.  I hope everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!

Thoughts & Reminders

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 35th month, so we are getting to the end of year #3

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For November, the company we picked was Altenew. They make some really pretty floral stamps with matching dies and sometimes stencils along with embossing folders.  However, they also have some very fun sentiment stamps and I picked one called Thoughts and Reminders. I went with a very simple card to highlight the inspiring message.  True Confession------I have had these two cards done since early spring as I misread our monthly calendar.

I picked the colors of cardstock and then the matching ink for the sentiment.    I die each of the sentiments with Gina K's Master Layouts 2 along with the backer.   For both cards, I used an embossing folder.   I then added some bling for the final touches.

For the card on the left, I used a Sizzix 3D Art Deco Embossing Folder. The black and white colors are perfect for the sentiment.  I added some black Taylored Expressions Drip Dots in an arch in the embossed part of the background.

For the card on the right, I picked a Tim Holtz Brickwork Texture Fades Embossing Folder. This time to colors are monochromatic--Bermuda Bay and Cool Caribbean.  I added some colored pearls around the frame.

Again, both cards use an embossed folder and my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2. The star of the cards should be the encouraging sentiment, so just a bit of bling around the frame.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month we are using MFT-My Favorite Things--should be some cute cards.  So be sure to check out our cards on December 22nd!

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the Hello Bluebird Frosty Mornings image and sentiment that Jeanette sent out for our November card, #111! That means we into year number 10 with this fun challenge! 10 YEARS--WOW!!!!! All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time! And, we will be back in 2024!

Jeanette sent us this sweet image a month that  I colored the with my Copic Sketch Markers. I used a Gina Marie Stitched Square die for the image and sentiment.  I backed both of them with Pecan Pie. I then picked out the background paper that highlights coffee beans. I used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 die to cut the background and the flag banner on the side. I added a few gold sequins for a bit of shine on my card.   I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  Kelly is up for our December challenge.   Please be sure to join us again.

Gina K Designs Autumn Cards

Last week I participated in a Gina K Designs virtual class called Autumn-Inspired Stenciled Florals.  This was a part of the Bella Blvd She Loves Color Event!  I even watched the class live and stamped along to make all three cards--no catch-up club for me this time!

We received three stencils in the class kit along with a stamp set.  Included also was 5 ink cubes, 4 blender brushes, cardstock for the 3 cards and some gold bling. I decided to use two of my own Gina K stamp sets for my cards.  The designs of these cards were Gina's and I did follow her instructions along the way.  Two of the cards use a double stenciling technique and it gives the florals such a unique look.

I really like all three cards and I really love Gina's classes!  I now have new supplies for more cards!

Noel

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the Spellbinders House Mouse Noel image and sentiments that I sent out for our October card, #110! That means we into year number 10 with this fun challenge! 10 YEARS--WOW!!!!! All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time!

I saw the sweet image a month or so ago at the Expo in Illinois and just loved it! I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  Since this is such a large image, I used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 die to cut the image and backer. I used a Cherry Cobbler card base.  I also used the stitched sentiment banner from the same set to cut out the phrase that comes in the set.  I did not add any bling to my card this time!  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  Jeanette is up for our November challenge.   Please be sure to join us again.

Using up UFO's

This is my October Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  I am the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Challenge:  Please make a card that highlights anything with wings--you decide what you want to showcase.

I  first picked a pretty Gina K Designs stamp set called Beautiful Butterflies--and I have the coordinating dies! There are some very pretty images and coordinating sentiments.  I then went to my basket of UFO's--backgrounds and such that I previously made.  I found two watercolored panels that I thought would make pretty butterflies. I stamped three of the images on each panel and then cut them out with the matching dies.  I also had 2 black lattice frames in the basket, so I die cut 2 more from my Ellentina Large Lattice frame.  I glued them together for a bit of dimension on the front of my card. One card base is SU's Pumpkin Pie and the other is TPC's Cocktail Metallic.  The stamped and die cut sentiment is from the same stamp set.  The So Very Grateful is also a Gina K sentiment, from one of her pre-printed packs.  I added some black enamel dots around each of the cards.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month! We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!  Lisa has our November challenge, so be sure to check back!

Take Time to Coast

This is my September Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  And, Jeanette is the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Challenge:   Create a card or project that depicts rest.

I picked a sweet Gina K Designs stamp set called Time to Coast.  There are some very pretty images and coordinating sentiments.  I picked out this lighthouse image along the shore. I ink blended an oval on my background with Taylored Expressions Gumball and Blueberry inks.  I then decided to die cut a Gina Marie Designs Peekaboo Oval from Night of Navy Cardstock to layer over the top.  The ovals did not completely line up so I added some additional ink around the edges--missed some on the bottom right.......  I then embossed the die cut panel with my Stampin' Up  Seaside folder.  I added foam tape behind the die cut panel for a bit of a framed look. I die cut the sentiment from a Taylored Expressions Sentiment Labels.    Pinkfresh Studio Sapphire Glitter Drops complete the card.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month! We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!  I have our October challenge, so be sure to check back!

One + Twelve

This is my 9th One Plus Twelve card for 2023--this is year number 5.   For this challenge, we are to use just one stamp, to make a card every month and post on the 3rd of each month.  For 2023, I picked a Taylored Expressions stamp and die set called Graceful Ferns.  I think this set is so versatile and I picked the largest fern image to use each month.  There is a With Sympathy sentiment and coordinating die in the same set, so that is what I used this month.

For my card this month, I used a Taylored Expressions Masking Oval Stencil. I blended TE inks of greens--Lime Zest, Peapod and Cilantro--inside the oval.  I stamped the fern image over the blended oval. I then die cut the panel with my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and backed it with black.  I stamped the sentiment also in black and die cut.  I added two layers of the die cut for a bit of dimension.  I added some Pinkfresh Studio Leaf Glitter Dots around the oval.

Please be sure to check out the other One plus Twelve cards to see what they picked for their stamp of the year for this challenge in 2023.  Here is a link to both Jeanette's  and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will enjoy checking out each of our cards using the same stamp for 2023. I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card and that you might too! Be sure to come back on October 3rd to see our cards for the next month!

Wreaths and Gingerbread

Today is the 15th and this is my card for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7 and all one team--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit.  This month Lorraine sent everyone a fun Christmas kit. She decided that since we had two months of florals for May and June--we now needed two months of Christmas Card--July and now August!

Lorraine said two of her favorite Christmas items are wreaths and gingerbread people.  So she sent everyone this sweet wreath image and a couple of sentiment banners from Your Next Stamp. She was so kind as to have some already die cut for us--yay!  We also received a variety of cute gingerbread images and embellishments.  Lorraine included some fun holiday patterned paper.  Of course, she also included some bling along along with ribbons.

I first colored one of the die cut wreath images with my Copic Sketch Markers and used the Merry Christmas banner.  I then decided to go with a more simple background--polka  dots!  I used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and then layered on some of the silver glitter cardstock! I colored one of the single gingerbread gals and added her to the bottom corner. This was fun card to make!

This is the inside of my card with some of the sweet ribbon Lorraine included along with another gingerbread gal!

I hope all of The Creative Crew Gals enjoy my card this month.  Please be sure to stop in to see what fun crafty cards are posted this month.  All of the blogs can be found on my left sidebar.  Our teammate Lorraine does not have a blog, so please check out her card in her SCS gallery.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful creations this month!

We will be back in September with the surprise Jeanette will be sending out.  Be sure to check in with us on the 15th to see what fun she has planned!

Hot Mess ~ Success

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.   This is card number 51, so we are into year #5. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a very fun group and will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness, I watched a recent Simon Hurley video where he used a scraper to swipe colors over a stencil. So-- tried it with two different stencils and three colors.  I went with Picket Fence Studio Paper Glaze in Snowdrop White and Jade Wine.  The third color was The Crafter's Workshop Orchid Stencil Butter.   The stencils were both from Newton's Nook--Basketweave and Balloons.

I used the palette knife to place the three colors of pastes at the bottom of each stencil.  I then flipped the stencil so the color was at the top as I thought it would be easier to swipe down rather then up.  I used the scraper to swipe the three colors down the length of the stencil. I was able to go down a few times to get more of the color on the stencil.  The colors did overlap and blend a bit in the middle. I left them dry for a few hours and then used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 to die cut each panel.  Both of the panels were then mounted on a piece of Mirricard that was also used to die cut the words for each.

The Happy Birthday comes from The Paper Cut's Birthday set and includes a backer.  I used Purple Mirricard for the words and Opal White for the backer--that was layered three times.  The Thank You is from MFT-My Favorite Things Stamps Thank You die.  I picked Emerald Mirricard for the words--again layered three times. Both of the cardbases are white.  I added a few green and purple enamel dots on each of the cards.

I really like the look of my cards and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies like them too!  Here are the links to the other somewhat messy crafters:   Carol, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry.   I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy this month and was successful in making some great cards!   Be sure to check back to see what we are up to on September 12th.

Getting Old!

This is my August Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  And, Lisa is the hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Psalms 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Challenge:  Make a birthday card

I love making birthday cards as I send quite a few every month.  I am the coordinator of the Birthday Random Acts of Kindness-BRAK group on SCS.  We coordinate sending cards each month to the active RAK members of SCS.  I also send to each of the BRAK Volunteers with a birthday that month, so I probably send out 12-15 birthday cards each month.  That does not included family and friends cards that are also send.

I picked a fun Rubbernecker Stamps image and sentiment for this month.  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut the birds with the matching die.  I picked out some fun patterned paper with birthday hats to celebrate.  I then die cut a piece of vellum from an older Gina K Designs die set called Decorative Labels.   I added some foam tape behind the vellum after glueing on the birds.  Taylored Expressions black Drip Drops complete the card.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month! We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!  Jeanette has our September challenge, so be sure to check back!
