Thanksgiving

This is my November Crafters of Faith card, I mean cards!  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  Lisa is hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:   Psalms 136:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.

Challenge: Make a card showing thankfulness, or use Thanksgiving as the theme.

I needed to make Thanksgiving cards for my Human Concerns Team at my church.  We give grocery gift cards to 24 families from our sister church in Milwaukee and I make the cards for mailing.  I love this sentiment stamp and have used it many years in the past. I inked the Paper Inspirations Thanksgiving Calligraphy with my Taylored Expressions Chocolate Truffle ink.  The patterned paper is from Heritage Makers and Our Memories for Life called Thanksgiving!  I added some brown ribbon and gold sequins for the final touches.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month! We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!  Sharon has our December challenge, so be sure to check back!

Thank You!

This is my January card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS. Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. The theme for January is "Use Your Words"

I picked one of my favorite wood-mounted stamps from The Paper Inspirations called Thank You Calligraphy.  I have a few stamps that are like this with others themes and really like using them!  I stamped with Stampin' Up's Gorgeous Grape to match the Designer Series Paper also from Stampin' Up called Hydrangea Hill.  I used two of the patterned papers and added a piece of 5/8" white grosgrain ribbon over the stripes.  No embellishments were needed!

Here is the inside of my card with a strip of the patterned paper:

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has posted all of the 2023 themes, so be sure to come back to see what we create!

Thanksgiving

This is my November Crafters of Faith card.  This is a sweet group on SCS that Faye hosts.  We are on year #7. We will continue as we have in the past with each month a new hostess gives us a scripture and challenges us to make a card with that theme.

Faye is her own hostess this month and gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture:  Luke 8:39 "Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you."

Challenge:  Share a card or scrapbook page describing what God has done for you.

I decided that God has allowed me to be thankful for many things--many people!  With Thanksgiving in a few weeks, I decided to use a wood mounted stamp from one of my favorite line from Paper Inspirations called Thanksgiving Calligraphy!   I love this stamp so much, I decided to make three cards!   I inked up the stamp in Early Espresso and stamped on Ivory cardstock.  The background paper is from Photo Play Fall Breeze called Autumn Leaves.  Brown twine is the only additional item.

Here is the inside of my card, with a strip of the sweet patterned paper.

I hope you and the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month!  We are to post on the 7th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!

Graduation

This is my April card is for the monthly swap that Pam hosts on SCS.  Each month we make 8 cards and include a matching envelope.  They can be any theme for any month.  All of the swappers are wonderful and I have received awesome cards each and every month.

I inked up one of my favorite lines of wood mounted stamps--Paper Inspirations Graduate Calligraphy.  The background paper is from Bo Bunny Pop Quiz-Chalkboard.   I added a strip of black satin ribbon and a few rhinestones are the final touch.  I think everyone can use a graduation card.

Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 45th month and the theme for October is "Pink and Positive".

Since October is breast cancer awareness month, I went with a Paper Inspirations sentiment and Moxie Cure For All Awareness patterned paper.   I am sure there will be some wonderful cards this month.

Today is the 6th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. January was Fancy Folds and February is using a SCS Sketch.  Every Tuesday, I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge.

Today I used Sketch 301 from SCS:

Ready? Set. Go!

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and that means a Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers (Jeanette, Kelly and I) are back with another challenge this month--our 17th month!  We are now coming to the end year #2!

provided the challenge for September and I posed a color challenge--a random one:  I love color combo challenges, so this is a version of one.  Go to the master lists of Color Challenges on SCS.  I think there are over 700 right now.  Please check out the ones that end on your birthday—Jeanette is 26th, Kelly is 28th and I am 01.  So you will be able to check out 7 or so that end with your date.  I would look at numbers 1, 101, 201, 301, etc.  You can pick any one of those color combinations that you want.  The twist is to also pick a holiday—famous or weird—from the month of your birthday.  So, Kelly picks something in March while Jeanette and I use October.  Use your color combo to make a card that “celebrates” that holiday.  Does that make sense?  Ready?  Set.  Go!

OK--so I picked out my color challenge, number 601.  The colors were Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron, Dapper Denim.  I love those colors independently and I thought it would make a great tropical type card.  At this point, I "forgot" about the second part of the challenge--picking a holiday in October.............  I was even so excited that I had a Kaleidacolor ink pad that was such a good match.  And, I knew what style of image I wanted to use--one of my favorite Paper Inspiration Calligraphy stamps.  Imagine my surprise when I started this blog post and realized this needed to be for an October Holiday!  And, I have no time to create another card. This is where I wing it..................

So--does this count Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month count as a celebration?  Or can we celebrate Class Reunion Month?  Maybe we can celebrate Country Music Month? I know--German-American Month, as I am a first generation German, living in America!   Take you pick--and let's Celebrate.  Sorry Jeanette and Kelly, I messed up.  Maybe I didn't..........................  I guess by using the Celebrate image, I can use it for any holiday I pick!

Here is the inside of my card:

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card and that you might too! Jeanette is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in October!

Additions to the Family

This is a card I just made for our niece and nephew who completed the adoption of three little tikes--all brothers.  They have been fostering the littlest guy for two years after they brought him home from the hospital.  They then had his two older brothers, ages 3 and 7, visited for weekends occasionally. After a year, they began foster the two older brothers full time and started the process to adopt all three!  There was always the fear a biological family member might take all three, but a week ago, on mom Brook's birthday, they all became adopted and a part of our family!  The three boys joined sister Nayla, who they  adopted a year ago and is 6!  There are also three older siblings, two in college and one in high school, so now they are a family of seven!

I inked up a favorite Paper Inspirations stamp and I love that line of calligraphy stamps!

Here is the inside of my card:

I am sure Matt and Brook will love the card as will the three boys!
