Newton's Kite

Today is the 9th of the month and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. This round, I am the hostess and sent out this sweet image from Newton's Nook called Newton's Kite!  For May this is card #129 and we are now in year #12!  I cannot believe this trio has been going strong for 11 strong years!

I sent two die cut images of the Newton along with a card front, along with the coordinating sentiments from the same set. I picked one of die cut one and colored the kitty image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I then die cut the background panel and backer with Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2.  I then embossed the white panel with a Spellbinders folder called Head in the Clouds.  I die cut an oval from Gina K's Master Layouts 1 from The Paper Cut's Citron Mirricard cardstock.  I also die cut the sentiment and Citron backer from a Stampin' Up Circle Die Set.  The circle and the oval were both placed on the cloud panel with foam squares.   I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of cute cards!  Jeanette is up for our June challenge, so please be sure to join us again.

Hello Spring!

First--this is a bit of a sad day as it is the last day of the No Foolin' Retreat.  I am sure we all had an amazing time, but we will all be packing up to head home this afternoon.  But, we get to do it all over again in 2026--YAY!!!!!!!!

But also, today is the day I post a card for our challenge called Unused No More!  This is a monthly challenge to be posted on the 6th with a group of friends from my No Foolin' Retreat.  Some may post on their blog and I will note those with blogs at the end of this post.  And, some might post on other social media.  Those that participate each month will send a picture in the text thread we have between us, showing our creation.  The premise is to use a stamp set, stencil die, hot foil plate or press plate that is new and has never been used.  So--Unused No More!

My plan is to pick a different company each month to highlight and maybe even a different product than the month before.  For April, I picked a Sweet Newton's Nook stamp that I have not gotten inky called Hello Spring.  I picked this company as they are only a few miles from the retreat house and a couple of year ago, Jen, the owner and designer of Newton's Nook, stopped for a make & take with us.  So Fun!

For my card,  I stamped the image with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and used rainbow colors for the word Spring!  I die cut the image and backer with a MFT Die Set called Stitched Arch Stax.  I had planned to make a acetate card with a clear middle, but I got messed up in cutting the pretty patterned paper.  So, the raindrops are in the background and the Spring Umbrella pieces are connected with a strip of acetate, that is over the raindrops.    I added some Stampin' Up Dots around the image which has dimension over the paper and acetate.

I am not sure who will post each month on their blog, but this is a list of the other ladies who do have blogs.  Links to the blogs of Jeanette,   Carol,   Terry,   Darlene,  Shelly, and Rebekah Be sure to come back on May 6th to see another fun card from a set Unused No More.

Dog or Cat or Both!

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. This round, I am the hostess and sent out these holiday images from Simon Says Stamp/Newton's Nook from the Stamptember set called Happy Paw-lidays. I sent a dog and cat image, both die cut and one of each on a card front panel.  I also included two sentiments, the holly and presents.  For December, this is card #124 and we are now in year #11!  I cannot believe this trio has been going strong for 11 strong years!  And, we will be back for 2025!

I colored the cute images with my Copic Sketch Markers. I added some Wink of Stella on the Santa hats for some shine and on thee dogs nose!   I picked out a Pinkfresh Studio Cover Plate called Diagonal Stripes with Window for the background, cut from Real Red.  I placed the frame over a piece of Ice Silver Glitter cardstock from The Paper Cut. The sparkle between the stripes and in the window in person is so fun!  I placed both of the animal images in the window, tucking their toes under the frame. I added the presents under the dog and cat with the holly leaves in the corner.  I die cut the sentiment with a Taylored Expressions Modern Labels Die.  I  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of cute cards!  Kelly is up for our January challenge, so please be sure to join us again.

Sips & Stories

Today is the 15th and this is my card this month for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit. This month, Tracie sent out a sweet image from Newton's Nook called Sips & Stories.  She also sent a sentiment from the same set.  Tracie also included some sweet patterned paper.

I colored the cute image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I die cut the image and blue backer from a Taylored Expressions die set called Inside Square Scalloped Stacklets.   I picked the cute pastel striped paper for my background and the pastel hearts for a middle strip. The sentiment and backer was flagged with a banner punch.    I added some blue enamel dots around the image.  This was a very fun card to make!

I hope all of The Creative Crew Gals enjoy my card this month.  Please be sure to stop in to see what fun crafty cards are posted this month.  All of the blogs can be found on my left sidebar.  Our teammate Lorraine does not have a blog, so please check out her card in her SCS gallery.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the fun holiday cards!

Tracie also asked us what we are currently reading.  I basically ready nonfiction and like political books.  I read about 1/2 of Kamala's book The Truths We Hold on Libby, but did not finish it.  It comes back to me in about 10 weeks--so it must be pretty popular.  I also read From the Corner of the Oval by Beck Dorey-Stein--another good book.  The best book I read so far this year was Liz Cheney's Oath and Honor--Outstanding Book!  OK--off my soapbox!

We will be back in December with another challenge that Terry will sending out.  Be sure to check in with us on the 15th to see what fun is planned!

Happy Howl-oween

Today is the 15th and this is my card this month for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit. This month, I sent out a Halloween Kit! The image and sentiment is from Newton's Nook and is called Happy Howl-oween!  I sent some images die cut with the coordinating die as well as a couple on quarter sheets of cardstock.  I included some cute Halloween patterned paper along with a strip of candy corn ribbon.

I colored one of the die cut images with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I added some highlights with white gel pen. I used three of the Halloween papers for the background and strips--one is the front and back side.  I punched out the sentiment and backer with my Stampin' Up circle punches. I added some black enamel dots with a bit of sparkle! The strip of ribbon is on the inside of my card.

I am sure you will enjoy all of the fun grilling cards and see what my teammates like on the grill!

Newton's Candy Corn

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. This round, I am the hostess and sent out this sweet image from Newton's Nook called Candy Corn.  I sent a few images that I die cut with the coordinating die and also sent the image stamped on a quarter cardstock sheet--options!   I also included a couple sentiment from the same set, so there would be more options.  Now for September, this is card #121 and we are now starting year #11!  I cannot believe this trio has been going strong for 11 strong years!

I colored one of the die cut Newton images with my Copic Sketch Markers. I also colored a few of the candy corn pieces.  I die cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock with a Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Oval.  I added some foam tape behind Newton and the corn piece and placed them on the oval.  I then die cut a piece of Halloween patterned paper for the background with my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 and added a black layer behind.  The Granny Apple Layer was embossed with my Stampin' Up Subtle folder for a bit of texture.  The sentiment was punched with a circle punch and added to a Granny Apple layer.  I added a strip of black glitter paper behind the oval for a bit of glimmer.  I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of cute cards!  Jeanette is up for our October challenge and we will continue in our 11th year!  Please be sure to join us again.

Newton's Book Club

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 41st month, so we are in our 4th year!  WOW--4 years of making two cards with the same stamp from different companies each month!

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For May, the company is Newton's Nook.  This is a favorite company of mine as it is based in Wisconsin, a little over an hour away from me.   This company has the cutest images, especially Newton the cat and that is what I picked!  The set is called Newton's Book Club and has matching dies. There is also a coordinating 6x6 patterned paper package called Coffee House Stories.  For my cards, I used all three items!

For both cards, I picked the sheet of patterned paper I wanted to use as the background.  I also used a die cut of vellum under the colored image using a Waffle Flower Dotted Labels siw set.  I also die cut a sentiment from the same set.

For this card, I colored the books with my Copic Sketch Markers in bold colors  to match the bold background. The highlights are in lighter colors and I colored Newton in gray. I die cut the sentiment with my Taylored Expressions Modern Sentiment Labels.  I added some black baker's twine and some Taylored Expressions Black Rhinestones.

For this card, I did the reverse of the color combinations on the books, with the darker color as the highlights as if matched the softer colored background.  I die cut the background and backer with Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2.  The sentiment was cut with the same Waffle Flower set as the circle of vellum.   A few white enamel dots were added around the image.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month we will highlight Taylored Expression, a favorite of all of us!  So be sure to check out our cards on June 22nd!

Rainy Day Friends!

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. This round, Kelly is the hostess and sent us sweet image from Newton's Nook called Newton's Rainy Day Trio.  She also included 2 sentiments for the theme of "Playing in the Puddles"!  I love this image as it shows three friends, huddled under one umbrella--3 Musketeers.  So for May, this is card #117 and we are actually coming to the end of year number 10!  I cannot believe this trio has been going strong for 10 plus years and looking to go to 11!

I colored the cute image with my Copic Sketch Markers and then fussy cut. I then picked a Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity Rectangle from white and layered three times.  I embossed a light blue panel with my Taylored Expressions Raindrops folder.  The sentiment was cut with a Taylored Expressions Modern Sentiment Dies.  I did not add any bling as I did not want to take away from the texture of the embossed panel.   I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  I am up for our June challenge.   Please be sure to join us again.

Hot Mess ~ Success

Today is the the 12th and it is time for another Hot Mess card.   This is card number 51, so we are into year #5. The idea of Hot Mess ~ Success is to Get Messy and you will have Success!  Messiness can be almost anything that we come up with--glitter, alcohol inks, glimmer glitz, sponged backgrounds, etc., anything that is a bit messy.  We are a very fun group and will post a card each month on the 12th.  The links to the other members are on my left side bar and I will also link them at the bottom at this post.

For this month's messiness, I watched a recent Simon Hurley video where he used a scraper to swipe colors over a stencil. So-- tried it with two different stencils and three colors.  I went with Picket Fence Studio Paper Glaze in Snowdrop White and Jade Wine.  The third color was The Crafter's Workshop Orchid Stencil Butter.   The stencils were both from Newton's Nook--Basketweave and Balloons.

I used the palette knife to place the three colors of pastes at the bottom of each stencil.  I then flipped the stencil so the color was at the top as I thought it would be easier to swipe down rather then up.  I used the scraper to swipe the three colors down the length of the stencil. I was able to go down a few times to get more of the color on the stencil.  The colors did overlap and blend a bit in the middle. I left them dry for a few hours and then used my Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 to die cut each panel.  Both of the panels were then mounted on a piece of Mirricard that was also used to die cut the words for each.

The Happy Birthday comes from The Paper Cut's Birthday set and includes a backer.  I used Purple Mirricard for the words and Opal White for the backer--that was layered three times.  The Thank You is from MFT-My Favorite Things Stamps Thank You die.  I picked Emerald Mirricard for the words--again layered three times. Both of the cardbases are white.  I added a few green and purple enamel dots on each of the cards.

I really like the look of my cards and hope you do too.  I also sure hope my fellow messy ladies like them too!  Here are the links to the other somewhat messy crafters:   Carol, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry.   I am sure you will enjoy seeing how everyone got messy this month and was successful in making some great cards!   Be sure to check back to see what we are up to on September 12th.

Crafting is my Cardio!

Today is the 9th and it is now time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the Newton's Nook image that I sent out for our July card, #107! That means we are coming to the end of year number 7 with this fun challenge! All three of us sure have enjoyed the challenges every month and we hope that it continues for a long time!

I sent Kelly and Jeanette a couple of the Newton's Crafty Cardio images, some die cut and some on a full panel.  There are also a number of smaller items in the set that I also die cut--scissors, pencil, washi tape, etc.   I also included a couple of the fun sentiments from the same stamp set.

I colored one die cut image with my Copic Sketch Markers. I also colored 4 of the small "embellishments".   I die cut an arch from a MFT Elegant Stitched Die out of Gray Granite.  I then popped up the image and add ons around the arch. The background is a very fun scissors pattern from the Carta Bella Craft & Create-Makers Plaid package.   I die cut the sentiment and the Gray Granite layer from The Paper Cut's Stitched Oval Dies.   I hope Jeanette and Kelly along with you enjoy my card!

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is the link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  Jeanette is up for our August challenge--please be sure to join us again.
