Dies to the Front

This is my February card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS. Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our 68th month and the theme for February  "Dies to the Front--use a die as the focal point of your card"

I picked a fun die from Memory Box called Gilia Flower Frame.  I thought and black and white theme would be fun, so the other layers of dies are from only those two colors.  I also used Gina K Designs Master Layouts 2 for another frame as that is one of my favorite and most used die sets! I have been needing some cards to send to people who are injured and a get well sentiment does not work.  So I picked a very old Sparkle N' Sprinkle stamp called In The Shop and used a Stampin' Up Label Punch to cut it out.  I added some black shiny enamel dots, though they are bit hard to see on the black cardstock.  I think this is a fun card and will make a good card to send to someone who is recovering.

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has posted all of the 2022 themes, so be sure to come back to see what we create!

In The Shop for Repairs!

Here is my January Crafters of Faith card as we are continuing in 2020.  This is a great group that my friend Kelly started on SCS. and we are in our 4th year. Shelly gave everyone this challenge:

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God. For as Christ’s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow.”

Challenge:  As a Christian and a nurse, January is very busy in the hospital with those who are afflicted with illnesses. Let's make a Get Well card for our January challenge and send it to someone to put a smile on his/her face.

I wanted to make a card that was not for an illness, but for an injury.  It seems that many of my friends and relatives are having hip and knee replacements lately and I am sure I will be able to use this card in the future.  I went to my Whipper Snapper Designs stash for this cute chicken image and colored it with my Copic Markers.  The sentiment is from Sparkle N Sprinkle and fits perfectly!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope Shelly along the others from the Crafters of Faith group like my card this month!  We are to post between the 7th and 10th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too! Faye is up for our February challenge, so be sure to check back to see what I create!

Lily of the Valley

If you are looking for my Three Musketeers card, please scroll down.

Today is the 13th week of A Card a Week Challenge. One card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month. April is making a CAS--Clean and Simple, card.  Every Tuesday, I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge.  And, this month, it is challenge as I do not do CAS well.....

This card is a sweet CAS card, using a pretty Lily of the Valley stamp set that I have had for a few years.  I love these flowers as they remind me of my mom and growing up on the farm as they were all around.  I have some plants around my house that came from her and they are just starting to pop up this spring.  I think it turned out pretty well and it meets the CAS challenge!

I hope you will stop back each Tuesday to see my creation for my A Card a Week Challenge!  There will be more CAS cards in April, so please come back.

Spring Tulips

This is my card for March's Monthly Challenge for the Creative Card Chicks.  This group is a kind of mystery image swap, where we each get an image and additional items to complete the challenge each month. Paula is the hostess this month and sent everyone this pretty tulip Image.  She also sent great patterned paper along with some cute embellishments.

I sprayed some "Wink of Sarah" over my image.  I bet you wonder what that is?  At our January Camp Stamp-in-Oga, we each made a bottle of this and that is what we named it.  We took a full tube of Clear Wink of Stella and dumped it in a small glass bottle with a sprayer end.  We then filled the bottle with rubbing alcohol and we now have a shimmer spray to use on cards.  If you do this, be sure the little "shaker" ball is also put in so that you can shake up the solution.  It is fun to use for sure!  I am not sure if you can see the shimmer on my card.

Unidentified Image Revealed!

This is the card for the 24th round of the Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--that is today!   The images for this round were provided by Carol.  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Laura Jean, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again--for round #25!!!

The image that Carol sent is from one of my favorite companies that make me laugh--Art Impressions.  Their "old people" line of stamps are just a hoot!  I added a bit of sparkle on the icing on the cake as I used a new marker that I recently got from my friend Jeanette.

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations today or in the next few days.  I hope Carol and the others in this swap like my card!

Calendar Girls Flowers

If you are looking for my Melonheadz Challenge card, please scroll up.

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! We are now in our fourth year of posting and it has been a blast.  Wonderful Challenges--Great Fun--Sweet Creations--and Awesome Friendships!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Carol is the hostess this month and she posted the following challenge

For the challenge this month, I thought quite a bit about the challenge. As you know, we will be posting after Easter so with that in mind I thought I'd do a Mothers Day challenge. When I was a child my mom would encourage my dad to get little carnation corsages in pink or red for each of us girls and mom to wear to church on Mothers Day. According to her (and the intranet), if a woman's mother was alive the females in the family would don a red or pink flower (mostly carnations, but not a rule) and if her mom had passed, the female would wear a white flower, and would visit the grave of her mom and place a white carnation on her grave. My mom's dad would do this when she was a child and mom loved the tradition. What I would like you to do this month is create a card or project using the color that would describe your mom. As an extra I would like for you to share a special memory of your mom from when you were little (if you are comfortable with that) so we can learn a bit about the wonderful ladies who raised such beautiful paper crafters...

I do have quite a few stamps with flowers and debated between two.  One had Iris flowers on it and this one with Lily of the Valley.  My mom had both of those flowers around the house  where I was raised and I loved and still enjoy both of them.  However, I went with this image as we have some Lily of the Valley growing at our house that came from my mom's garden. It is one of the spring flowers I look forward to seeing pop through the ground and bloom.  Plus, they are white, which reflect back on Carol's challenge.  I also added some glimmer glitter in the middle of the embossed flowers honor of Carol--our glitter queen!  I used my yellow Wink of Stella glitter pen, which has been used very little since I bought them a few months ago.  I also fussy cut the image, which I rarely do--though I admire it on many of the cards that my Calendar Girls create!
