This is my card for our every other month swap for a group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Kathleen is our hostess for October and she posted that she wanted to get a head start on Christmas Cards.  Her challenge was to use embossing somehow on the card.  I used one of the new Stampin' Up embossing folders that I really, really like!

Here is the inside:

Graduation Mortar Board

This is my card for our every other month swap for a group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Pam is our hostess for August and she posted the following: Getting Ready for Gifting!

Invariably I need a card to hold a gift card or even cash for someone special AND we are almost halfway to Christmas! EEK! Please make a card that has an enclosure/pocket/flap to hold a gift card or cash. It can be any theme - birthday, wedding, thank you or even Christmas!
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

I went with a Graduation Card, shaped like a Mortar Board! We made one similar to this, using the same fold and some other stamps, at a card class earlier this year.  I thought I was darn cute!  A bit putzy, but I really like it!

Here is the inside, opened up to the first panel.

Here is the top envie, with a place to put some cash.

Set Sail for SOTC

This is my card for our every other month swap for a group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Laura Jean is our hostess for June and she posted the following: The theme is Splish Splash!!!  Please make a card with a focus on anything to do with water - swimming, fishing, ocean creatures, boats, mermaids, etc. There just has to be some "water aspect" to the card. I thought this would be a fun theme with Summer coming up! .

I think this is one of my favorite Stampin' Up stamps and I love the nautical paper!

Blessings

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Judy is our hostess for February and she posted the following:You may have noticed in my posting the other day that I have chosen the word "Blessings" as my focus for 2016. Because I consider each one of you a blessing in my life and in the spirit of that word I would like you to create a card with the theme of "Counting my Blessings". This can be a "Thank You" card or one of "Encouragement" or "Praise". As an option I would love for you to incorporate a butterfly on your card. I love butterflies for their beauty and for their symbolism. Here are some examples:
Symbolic Butterfly Meanings
• Time                • Soul                   • Grace                • Growth
• Elegance          • Expansion           • Lightness          • Surrender
• Transition        • Expression           • Celebration       • Resurrection
• Vulnerability
I look forward to seeing your creations!

I have a few Stampin' Up Butterfly Stamp sets as well as matching dies and punches.  I also took out some Stampin' Up oldies from my collection.....  Everyday Enchantment DSP and Peach Stitch Poly Ribbon.

I hope Judy and the others in our sisterhood like my card!

Kinky Boots!

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Gael was our hostess for October and she posted the following:
The September/October theme is... Broadway Musicals!

But wait, there is a catch. Only one person per musical, sooooo, you must PM me your choice and if someone has already taken it, you will have to name another. (This is to keep us from getting all witch cards when everyone chooses Wicked, for example)
You need not portray the entire title. For example, for 'Hello Dolly', you could make a card featuring a Doll. For Grease, you could do a car, a 50's theme, or a lightening storm, etc. The musical title should not be on the card, but if you could put it on a post-it on the back of your cards, that would be appreciated.

Do you know which musical my card is themed after?  It is my new favorite musical after we saw it on Broadway in September..................  Kinky Boots!  It is coming to Milwaukee in May and we sure plan to be there!  Great story--and a musical that makes you laugh, cry, smile, ponder, etc--all in the same show!

Roughin' It

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Linda was our hostess for June and she posted the following:

Get Outdoors

I'm so excited it's my turn to host! I was thinking of all the fun things we do when the weather gets warmer. For me in New England, each season really has a different look. Since Winter is ending and the warm weather is inevitable, I think about spring and summer when we take our camping trips, taking hikes in the woods when everything is so green, bike rides on the trails, canoeing, swimming, etc. So my challenge to you is to make a card that represents some activity you love to do outdoors.

I love this Bo Bunny stamp set--it has so many cute images and sentiments.  I do love the outdoors and also camping--in a tent as well as a camper!  I had a reason for using the moose patterned paper. Last week we were at a friend's house in Colorado and saw moose pretty much every day.  A mama and her baby were outside the house twice and we saw this pair one morning as we were on the deck drinking our morning coffee:

I hope Linda and the other "sistahs" like my card:

New Life!

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  We recently added some additional ladies to the group and I am excited to see all of their swap cards too.  Maryann is our hostess for April and she posted the following:

NEW LIFE!

March and April remind me that spring is coming. Along with spring comes new life: of grass, the gardens, flowers, the baby deer, all the new baby chicks, and all the creatures of this earth. Let's make a card for a new life. It could be a baby card, flowers in bloom, etc. Let your imagination run wild. Have fun!

I really like this stamp that I got a few years ago at the Madison Stamp Show.  I think it is just perfect!

I hope Maryann and the other "sistahs" like my card:

SOTC Nautical Card!

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  We recently added some additional ladies to the group and I am excited to see all of their swap cards too.  Kelly is our hostess for February and she posted the following:

Let's Get Naught-y!"

Indeed that's what we are doing this month - getting *Nautical!* Since most of you know my obsessive love of the ocean, and to get you out of your cold months and winter snow, let's create cards with a nautical theme! Think lighthouses, sailboats, anchors, maps and more, let your creativity flow and your heart 'sail' ♥

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Sets your sails creating and I 'shore' can't wait to see your cards!

This was a fun challenge and I really need to make more masculine cards, as that is what I think of when I think of nautical.  I really like this retired Stampin' Up stamp and the DSP is one of my favorites!  I also tried something new as I stamped the sailboat image with SU's Night of Navy instead of using black.  I like it!  I layered the Early Espresso Ribbon over a strip of Soft Suede taffeta ribbon.

I hope Kelly and the other "sistahs" like my card:

SOTC December ~ Spring Card

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  April is our hostess for December and she posted the following:

The theme for these oh-so chilly months is a non-traditionally shaped, Spring themed card! Anything that says "Spring" to you and any shaped card but rectangle.

This was a bit of a challenge for me as I almost always make rectangle cards.  I did not want to make a "common" square card, so I used a card I got in a swap a bit ago as a template.  I am not sure what it is called, but it is fun!

SOTC Favorite and Fabulous

Happy Halloween!  I do not have a Halloween card,
but a very special card for you today...................

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Jeanette is our hostess for October and she posted the following:

First, let me tell you with all sincerity, you are some of my favorite people! I want to thank you – my dear Sistahs – for being the fabulous group of women that you are! You are my inspiration in so many ways, but here are just two of the ways…

• Your talent, of course, is unsurpassed. I literally get goose bumps when I see the cards you make! You inspire me creatively. • The way you love me and one another – unconditionally! You inspire me to be a better person, more loving and kind.  I am truly honored to be part of this group!!!

My theme for September/October is inspired by those very thoughts. The theme---Favorite and Fabulous!

Let me explain:
--Favorite = Use one/s of your favorite things on your card. It might be your favorite stamp/image, your favorite embellishment, your favorite color, or any other “favorite” that you choose.
--Fabulous = I know we always use at least two layers and one embellishment, but for this time I want you to do something a little extra to make your cards fabulous. It might be simply adding another layer to your card, using a handmade embellishment, creating your own designerpaper, using a unique fold, or any other “fabulous” feature you choose.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I hope you’ll have a lot of FUN creating!

I love making gate-fold cards and I recently used this Stardream blue shimmer cardstock on another card.  I just love it, so I wanted to highlight it and did not cover any of it up with patterned paper.  If you also visit my blog often, you know I love these Paper Inspirations Sentiments--and use them often. I think this card can be used for many occasions.

Here is my card as it is opened--the button holds the flap in place.

SOTC Owl Card

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  I am quite late in posting this card and part of the problem was that I was very late in getting these swap cards in the mail to Kadie. She was our hostess for August and she posted the following:

I was thinking about a theme for my round and I couldn't get owls out of my head. But then it occurred to me that not everyone may have an owl stamp or image, so I've decided to go with a general bird theme. So the theme this month is called FOR THE BIRDS! All you have to do it use a bird somewhere on your card. It can be for any occassion. Please use at least 2 layers and 1 embellishment. Other than that, it's up to you! Thanks so much and have fun!!

I have not inked up this Unity stamp yet, so I thought this is a perfect time to do so for a fall card!  The sentiment says "Bringing Fall Greetings"

Here is the inside of my card:
