Calendar Girls--Birthday Challenge!

It is the 28th, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!  Sorry I am a bit late in posting, but I am here!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.

April, our Miss March, provided us with this challenge:
{In another thread, we were talking about what kind of challenges we like best and that is where I got this idea}
I want you to make a birthday card based on your date of birth.
I would love you to use two parts of your birth date and use the corresponding color and sketch challenges available on the forums.
So, my birthday is 3-8-67.....either 3, 8, or 67 would be the color challenge and either of the two remaining would be the sketch challenge.
My choices could be: 3/8, 3/67, 8/67; or the reverse of these combos for color/sketch or sketch/color.....

Clear as mud, right?? Use two parts of your birth date and the corresponding challenge to make a birthday card!

So, after reading this a few times and getting some clarification in the thread—I checked out the color and sketch challenge threads and printed out my three choices—1, 10 and 53--yup, I actually admitted what year I was born...........    I went color #53—Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery.  Then, for the sketch, I used #10.  (hummmmmmm-I wonder what numbers Jeanette used in her card as she admits to be only 17)

This has to be the fastest I ever made a card—having the colors and sketch already set, there was no need to sit and ponder “what to do!”  I also think this is the third or fourth month in a row, where I have used a Whipper Snapper Designs stamp for the image…………….  Oh well—you all know I love that company!

Thanks for a great challenge April—Loved it!

Mystery Swap ~ Round 9 ~ Get Cozy with Cocoa

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS.  A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess.  This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette.  These images were sent to us by Linda Haller, who will swap the cards and send us the next image, provided by Linda Hart!  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same image.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

This is such a cute My Favorite Things image and I do like many of Who’s That Girl stamp sets.  I was so glad to be able to color one up—though I think my Copic technique needs a bit of practice with a large area to color……………………

Oh Well--I hope Linda and the other swappers think I did OK with this sweet image.

Dueling Darling Divas March ~ Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It is the 15th of the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge.  This month, I am the hostess for the Divas and Michelle is the hostess for the Dazzlers.  We decided the theme is “St. Patrick’s Day”, to be celebrated in two days.
And in addition to creating the card, we requested that each person tell if they have a tradition relating to St. Patrick’s Day?  Do they crave a type of Irish food?  Do they prepare something special or go out to a certain place to eat that day.  Are there any special memories of that holiday from the past that they want to share?
I am not Irish-I am100% German as both of my parents were born in Germany and met in Chicago in the 20’s.  But, I do love Irish Stew!  There is a small restaurant near us that has a great stew on St. Patty’s Day, but we are not going to be around this year as we are heading to Chicago to the Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier.  I am sure we will see lots of “green” that day!
Here is the inside of my card:

PTI Four of a Kind Birthday Wishes

This is the second of the two cards that I made for Stephanie’s PTI Swap in the birthday category.  This is one of my favorite PTI sets and it was free—well……kind of free.  I was a set I got free when I purchased a set amount of items at their CHA booth in 2010.  It was awesome to see all of their sets in person as well as their great colors of paper, ribbon, and all of their other sweet toys!

PTI Green Thumb Birthday Greetings

This is one of the three cards that I made for Stephanie’s Papertrey Ink-PTI swap on SCS.  I really like many PTI stamp sets and love to participate in these swaps to get back some of the awesome creations made by these great swappers!  This was one of the two cards I made for the birthday group.  What a perfect card for a spring birthday

I do have to admit that the sentiment I used is not a PTI-it is Stampin’ Up.  The birthday greeting in this set said “Hoppy Birthday” as it had many garden components.

Crafty Gals March Challenge ~ Not Luck.......... Blessings Card

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with the fourth Challenge of the Crafty Gals!  We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.

This month, the challenge was posted by Melina, who also organized this blog group.  Here are the details:

"NOT LUCK......BLESSINGS!"  Okay, so this month we celebrate St. Patty's Day. Well, some of us do. I never have gotten into it that much even though I have some Irish blood in me. I guess my thing is I don't believe in luck. I believe in blessings. So, I love saying "Have a blessed day" when I'm out and about on St. Patty's Day! LOL!  So, my challenge for you is to create a project whatever you'd like, a card, scrap page, 3D item, etc....using these things:

1. 2 different shades of green.
2. Make the sentiment a "blessings" or "thankfulness" theme.
3. A Nature element somewhere on your creation. Examples: plant, sun, flower, grass, etc image and/or use patterned paper with plants, grass etc.....Any Natural element you can think of on your project.
I want you to really go "green" on this challenge!

Green is one of my favorite colors to work with and I got this stamp last November at a stamp show  in Madison that I attended.  I did a make and take in the Seaside Stampin Ink booth and the owner mentioned he had not sold one item yet—and we were about an hour into the show.  I felt bad, so I “needed” to make a purchase……………  The embossing folder I used was also a purchase that night from a company I had not heard of before-Lifestyle Crafts

SOTC February Swap ~ Faith

This is a card that I made for our monthly SOTC—Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards-- Swap on SCS.  Kelly was our hostess for February.  Here is her challenge:

How exciting to bring you the theme for this month's card creations! When I thought of what theme to do, I was instantly drawn to the walk of faith that guides me through my days and thought of the old proverb "Prayers go up and blessings come down " Truly you are each and every one of you a blessing to me, as we are to each other and our friendship is an abundant of blessings and a joy to behold! So my challenge to you this month is to create a Faith based, spiritual card! Your card can be created using faith based images, or scriptures, or both! Or anything that best exemplifies what blessings, God's love, peace in the heart, faith, etc means to you that you'd like to share with us!  I look forward to seeing your cards this month and shower blessings upon each of you!

I have a few stamps from Our Daily Bread and Unity that reflect this theme—and I decided to use a Unity stamp that has not seen ink in the past.  I hope you like the card.
