Honor your Father and Mother

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!

I am the hostess for August and this is the challenge I posted:

Memories of Mom and Dad! Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Even though my parents have been gone for close to 20 years, I still have wonderful memories of both of them. Some of you may have one or both of your parents still an active part of your lives and for others, the memories are what we hold close. So--what can you create on your card that reminds you of you mom or dad or both of them? A site from a family vacation? A hobby--music, gardening, literature, art, etc.? A favorite food? Your mom cooking? Your dad spending time with cars? Or vice versa . Create a card that shines of the memories that honor your father and mother.

Enjoy this trip back in time--or maybe it is just a few steps back of a recent memory. Tell us in your blog post about your card, the memory it unlocks and a bit about your parents if you want to share. I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful memories you create and post on August 31st. Have Fun getting inky!

I grew up on a farm in Central Wisconsin, as many of you who read by blog know.  We were a dairy farm and as a typical farm, we had a windmill.  It was not an active one--but it did turn all of the time.  We also had flowers that grew along the bottom of the frame.

That is one of my favorite memories of the farm where I was raised and it still is there as far as I know.  A few years ago, a cousin from Germany came to visit, and we drove to show them the farm--there stood the windmill!

Snow in August?

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Paola
is our hostess this month and this is what she wrote for us to follow:

For the usually HOT and HUMID month of AUGUST, I would rather do something to get cooled off ...but what?  mmmm..I got it! We could make some SNOWballs....or even SNOWangels in the middle of summer, but how? ♥

Here's what I suggest :  Your challenge for this month is to create something with anything that begins with the word SNOW.  However, here's the catch: Your card should NOT reflect Christmas at all....but rather just images AND sentiment ( s ) that start with *SNOW*.

Here's a list of compound words for you to chose from and get started with...(feel free to add your own)   Once you blog your card, please also make sure to add what was your word choice that your card reflects, and also WHY you selected THAT particular word...Thank You and happy stamping .....Have FUN 'chilling out' on a hot summer day....♥

SNOW words:  Snowman ; Snowberries ; Snowballs ; SnowWhite ; Snowplow ; Snowsuit ; Snowflakes ; Snowqueen ; Snowmobile ; Snowshoes ; Snowcone ; Snowangels ; Snowfort ; Snowbird ; Snowgoose ; Snowfall.

I used a snowman stamp that I have in my stash that I think is too cute.  I love the long body.   I also was able to use some of the paper from the new Stampin' Up Winter Frost pack of DSP that I won a few weeks ago--I love the colors!

I chose the word snowman as I have many stamps with that theme--love all of them!  I also love the snowflake trim on the bottom of the card.

Here is the inside--I do love all of my Calendar Girl Friends!

I found this paper that shows some of the solar system in a pack I got from a sale on the October Afternoon website.  I think it was perfect to use!

SOTC Happy Anniversary

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  April is our hostess for July/August--she posted the following for us to follow:

In honor of April's 15th wedding anniversary, the theme for this month is Anniversary Cards!

I had to look and look for a stamp to use for this swap.  I inked up stamp that I have had for quite awhile, but I have not idea where I got it or the name of it as it only listed the company name on the side of the wood block.

I hope April and the other SOTC gals like my card!  And--Happy 15th Anniversary April!

Live in the Sunshine

Earlier this month, at Camp Stamp-in-Oga, there was a card challenge.  Sarah, the head counselor, proposed two challenges—a sketch one and a color one. This was for the color challenge--use Pool Party, So Saffron, Bermuda Bay and Tangerine Tango.  We could use any or all of this great summer colors--and I bet you can tell I used them all!  I used the stamps from the SAB set Madison Avenue along with the matching embossing folder Vine Street.  I love the bright colors!  My two sketch cards were posted in the past week or so--I hope you got a peek at them too!

Dueling Darlings Kickoff!

It is the 15thof the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostesses for August are LJ-Laura Jean for the Divas and Terry for the Dazzlers.
I loved all of the papers and embellishments that Carol sent--I wanted to use all of it!  I was able to add a few more elements to the inside of my card than I typically do.  Terry and LJ also wanted us to share some of our favorite fall memories and they said it did not need to be sport related.  Well--mine is for sure.  I was a high school volleyball coach for 19 years, so that provided some wonderful memories for me-participating in the state tournament three times was a highlight!  I also love Friday night high school football and Saturday afternoon college football games.  My godson/great-nephew JL-Jack Lucas--is going to be attending UW-Whitewater as a Freshman this fall.  He is also going to be on the football team and the university is about 35 miles from my house.  I am sure the next 4-5 years will include attending many football games with my family.  Then--Sunday is Packer Day and my card shows off the Green and Gold!

Here is the inside of my card.

Our sponsor this week is Creations by AR

Creations by AR provided us with some awesome templates for this challenge.  And--of course, since I was a coach and Physical Education teacher in my former life (before retirement.....), I had to chose a tennis shoe, instead of a high heel!

And here is a close up of the top of the shoe.  I thought the added Crayons would make a cute back to school gift for a child going into Kindergarten.

Unity ~ Unidentified Image Swap

This is the card for the 9th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--today!   The images for this round were provided April.  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Laura Jean, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image--well really a sentiment--that April asked us to create a card with,  is so perfect for any occasion.  I love the saying and it will be great to see how others use it.  I thought it would work well for a gate-fold card.  Here is the inside:
