Drink Coffee!

Here we are--this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 30th month, so we are now in year #3

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For June, the company we showcasing is Simon Says Stamp.  This is a very fun company and has so many brands to pick from.  But, they also have wonderful products with their own line, so that is what we are picking this month!

The stamp set I picked is a sentiment set called Drink Coffee.  It comes with a variety of funny sayings--some large like the one I picked and then some smaller ones too.  I think this sentiment is perfect--just like a great cup of coffee with a bit of cream, or an almond milk latte!

For the first card, I picked some fun patterned paper from Moxie called Perfect Blend--coffee beans and made a gate fold card.  I stamped the sentiment in Taylored Expressions Chocolate Truffle and die cut it with Sizzix Dotted Rectangle dies, along with a backer of Early Espresso with the same die. I added some linen thread between the die cut layers.

For the second card, the patterned paper of coffee cups from Bo Bunny was cut at a diagonal.  I used a Darice embossing folder called Coffee Pot for some texture on the background panel, under the patterned paper.  The sentiment was die cut with a Memory Box die called Matinee Rectangle and some brown baker's twine was placed behind it.

Both cards use the same coffee sentiment and they were both die cut.  I also used some patterned paper that highlights coffee in some form and some twine behind the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards.

Next month the company we are using is Honey Bee Stamps.  So be sure to check out our cards on July 22nd!

Double Duty Debut

Here we go—another challenge for the trio of stampers—Barb, Jeanette and Kelly!  This is our 7th challenge that the three of us are doing together! This was a thought that I had in the middle of the night, similar to what Kelly has had in the past.  Plus, it is a bit of offshoot of our Stamp What Challenge! This one is called Double Duty!

For January, the company that I picked was Simon Says Stamp. They really have some great images and many coordinating dies.  And, they carry many additional companies on their site--one stop shopping!  I picked a sweet set that I got last year while the pandemic was going strong, called Paper Hug.  I love the cute images and perfect sentiments in this set.

The first card was a double gate-fold card, with the image on one panel and the sentiment on the other.  I picked the image of two hands, holding an envelope and colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers.  The patterned paper on the panels is Stampin' Up Follow Your Art--an ideal pick for the theme!  The words Paper Hug is perfect to send to a friend far away.  Three pink sequins are the final touch.

Here is the inside of that card:

For my second card, I picked the large Hug image with two hands.  Again, I colored the word and hands with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut the image with Whimsy Stamps Stitched Rectangles Dies. I layered the image over a piece of Real Red cardstock I embossed with Sizzix Hearts Embossing Folder.  I picked a sentiment that really expresses how I feel right now--I so want to hug my friends and family!    I added a pink gem heart on the edge of the sentiment.

And--I almost forgot--the final Double Duty element.  My color theme for both of these cards were red and pink-or Calypso Coral.  I also colored both sets of the arms different shades, to highlight diversity in my cards and my life!

Here is the inside of my second card:

I hope you enjoyed my first card for our new group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card. Lawn Fawn is the company we will use in February, so be sure to check back to see how we double up and make two cards on the 22nd!

2019~~A Card a Week Challenge

Happy New Year's Day! Welcome to 2019!

Today is the first day of my challenge for 2019--I am calling it "A Card a Week". I set a goal to do a card a week--for 52 weeks--with a preset challenge for each month.  If you saw my post yesterday, you read my challenge themes for each month--January is Fancy Folds!  Each Tuesday, I will post a card that fits the theme of the monthly challenge.

Today is a gate fold card--one of my favorite fancy folds to make.  It is not that hard to do and I think it is a nice way to highlight a fun image or cute sentiment.  Today, I went with a sentiment that is perfect for New Year's Day!  I used some shiny metallic striped paper that I got last summer.  It was a pack of Cricut Papers that was on clearance and has various patterns of reds.

Here is the card opened a bit:

Here is the inside of my card:

Camp Color Challenge

This is the first of the two cards I made for the challenges for Camp Stamp-In-Oga, which will be held tomorrow. This is a great event that is organized by my Stampin' Up demo and her buddy Cheryl that is held three times a year.  This is the second one in 2016 and is being held at my church, so it is less than 5 minutes away. It is a great time, with a stamp class in the morning where we make 5 cards.  Then, some of the stampers plan to stay for the rest of the day and stamp away until close to midnight.  There are raffles and prizes and great food.  It is such a fun day!

This is for the color challenge. We were given the option of six colors and two were of the new in-colors, but I have not gotten my club order yet for this month.  So-I went with two classics-Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight.  If you check back at my post on tomorrow, you will my card for the sketch challenge.  I am hoping one of the two is a winner!

It is a gate card and here are the two flaps opened part way:

Thinking of You

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now into our second time around.  Linda is the hostess this month and she picked a cute image from Stampin' Up.  She will swap the cards and then send  everyone the next image, which will be provided by Kelly. Then we all get to do it all over again!

I really like gate-fold cards and I thought this image you make a cute one.  I also used a clear Wink and Stella glitter pen on the nose.  Here is the inside of my card:

SOTC Favorite and Fabulous

Happy Halloween!  I do not have a Halloween card,
but a very special card for you today...................

This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Jeanette is our hostess for October and she posted the following:

First, let me tell you with all sincerity, you are some of my favorite people! I want to thank you – my dear Sistahs – for being the fabulous group of women that you are! You are my inspiration in so many ways, but here are just two of the ways…

• Your talent, of course, is unsurpassed. I literally get goose bumps when I see the cards you make! You inspire me creatively. • The way you love me and one another – unconditionally! You inspire me to be a better person, more loving and kind.  I am truly honored to be part of this group!!!

My theme for September/October is inspired by those very thoughts. The theme---Favorite and Fabulous!

Let me explain:
--Favorite = Use one/s of your favorite things on your card. It might be your favorite stamp/image, your favorite embellishment, your favorite color, or any other “favorite” that you choose.
--Fabulous = I know we always use at least two layers and one embellishment, but for this time I want you to do something a little extra to make your cards fabulous. It might be simply adding another layer to your card, using a handmade embellishment, creating your own designerpaper, using a unique fold, or any other “fabulous” feature you choose.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I hope you’ll have a lot of FUN creating!

I love making gate-fold cards and I recently used this Stardream blue shimmer cardstock on another card.  I just love it, so I wanted to highlight it and did not cover any of it up with patterned paper.  If you also visit my blog often, you know I love these Paper Inspirations Sentiments--and use them often. I think this card can be used for many occasions.

Here is my card as it is opened--the button holds the flap in place.

Old Mailbox Gate-fold Challenge Card

This is a the card that I am entering in a card contest for stamp show that is coming to Milwaukee.  The show tomorrow and the cards were due to the sponsor last Monday.  The theme is mailboxes and I used a digital stamp for this card.

There are three winners chosen and each person gets show dollars to spend at the  that day at the stamp show.  Top prize is $100--wish me luck!   I made card is on Friday, the 13th, so that will bring me extra good luck!  I won two free tickets to this stamp show earlier this year--so maybe that is an omen that one of the two cards I am creating will be a winner!

I really like making gate-fold cards and I tried a new way to make the flap by using ovals as the base.

Here is the inside of my card:

Red Hat Hoots!

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our second cycle.   April is the hostess this month and she chose some cute Unity images   April will swap the cards--then send us the next image,  which Paola is going to sent to her.  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same image. Then everyone gets to do it all over again!

When I got this set of images--the owl, party hat and sentiment, I knew right away I wanted to do a Red Hat Lady themed card.  I have some great red hat patterned paper that I have not used in a long time, so I dug it out and created a gate fold card.  I kept the embellishments to a minimum on the front to showcase the great ladies in purple dresses and their awesome assortment of red hats.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope everyone who gets my card likes my "take" on Have a Hoot of a Day!

Unity ~ Unidentified Image Swap

This is the card for the 9th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--today!   The images for this round were provided April.  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Laura Jean, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image--well really a sentiment--that April asked us to create a card with,  is so perfect for any occasion.  I love the saying and it will be great to see how others use it.  I thought it would work well for a gate-fold card.  Here is the inside:
