Dueling Darlings Cool Creations

It is the 15thof the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge. Our hostesses for July are Debbie for the Dazzlers and I am the hostess for the Divas!
When we started to work on the theme early in June, there were about 10 ideas that were tossed out.  Some may come in the future--and there are a couple of interesting ones................   But--for this month, Debbie came up with us celebrating summer with a card of "Cool Creations"!  We also asked that each of the Darlings tell of their favorite summer cooler.  For me, it is frozen custard--from Culver's or Leon's or Kopp's-the restaurant that we visited when some of the Darlings visited my house in April. That was a treat after we stopped at Creative Pals, the home store of Whipper Snapper--which as usual is my chosen image for this duel!   The best flavors of frozen custard are Butter Pecan or Caramel Cashew!

Here is the inside of my card.

So-this week is Challenge is #45--End of the Day--Use Sunset Colors!   There are so many colors in the evening sky--and our options are endless.  You can use a blend of colors or just pick out your favorite and go with it.  We would also like to hear why you chose the color you did. So, be sure to use any of the beautiful colors of the sunset in your card and still share an appropriate scripture or inspirational sentiment.

We were able to pick from many of their digital images for this challenge and I used one called Mushrooms.  I thought I could sure color them up in sunset type colors!   I love all of the colors of the sunset--browns, oranges, reds, yellows--they are all stunning.  So--I used many of those colors in my card!

Thank You Melonheadz!

Harvest in the Forest

This is the second of the two cards that I made for Jeanette's most recent forest swap on SCS.  The theme this round was Seasons in the Forest.  I went with a fall theme for this card and inked up a Whipper Snapper card with an owl, just for Jeanette!  I also used a newer ink pad that I recently bought for a softer look--it is called Jumbo Java.  I hope Jeanette and the other forest dwellers like my cards!

Crafty Gals honor Zella!

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with another challenge of the Crafty Gals! We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.

This year our challenges are going to be a bit different. Each month, Melina will chose one of our group to highlight and our challenge is to CASE a card from her blog—or make a card that highlights some of her loves. This month the person to CASE is Zella!  Here is a link to her blog.

This is what Melina posted about Zella:  We are showing love to Zella this month! Zella is our GAL for July! She likes to create with cute images like animals and flowers. She loves (I believe) bright colors. She makes beautiful inspirational cards also. Look through her beautiful blog, find something you love and get busy!  As an extra challenge this month, I know Zella loves sending her cards to be used at crisis centers and the like so if you could send your card (and a few extras if you want) to a worthy cause (like cards for a cure, cards on a mission, operation write home, etc.), I know that would put a big ole smile on Zella's face

I hope Zella likes my card and that she feels it reflects who she is.  And-I hope the rest of the Crafty Gals like it too!  I donate cards to the local Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa and this card will be in the next batch that I take--I am sure they will love it too~

SOTC Lily of the Valley

Happy Fourth of July!  I do not have a patriotic card today--but I do have a swap card to show you. This is my card for our every other month swap for an awesome group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Maryann is our hostess for May/June--she posted the following for us to follow in April:

Snow is still everywhere! It just keeps coming and it won't go away. In hopes of some spring/warm weather, I would like us to make some uplifting, sun-shining cards.
A card with FLOWERS to bring out the sunshine and wash away this cold/snowy weather. Birthday, thinking of you or any theme; it's up to you!

Since I knew that Maryann got lots and lots of snow this winter and it did not all go away until almost May, I am sure she really is ready for flowers!  I inked up a new stamp that I got this spring at a stamp show in Milwaukee and wanted to highlight the oval shape of the image.  I tried various dies, but none of the ovals matched the shape. This one worked, however it is a bit large for the card front!

I hope Maryann and the other SOTC gals like my card!

So-this week is Challenge is #44--Make your Own Background!   You are to use any technique you want for the background and still share an appropriate scripture or inspirational sentiment.

Our sponsor this week is Lacy Sunshine

I used a cute image called Lil Scoop.  Isn't she the sweetest little girl? Thank You Lacy Sunshine!

For the background, I used an embossing folder and I inked up the non-braille side or the side that is not raised up (I am sure there is a better name for this!)   When you run it through the Big Shot, then the ink settles in the area of the background that is lower and the raised part remains white.  I was also able to use some of the new In-colors from Stampin' Up on this card--love them!

June is Dairy Month!

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!

A week or so ago, our leader Kelly posted in the thread that since the hostess for June is no longer a part of the group, that she would come up with a theme, but she was a bit overwhelmed with life......................  So--I stepped up and said I could post a theme for us to use.  So her is our May challenge:

June is Dairy Month in Wisconsin. I remember when I was growing up there were dairy breakfasts at farms in our area and my 4-H club had a pie and ice cream social every June. Now--I am not sure that everyone has a dairy themed image. But--if you have something farm related--cow, chickens, ducks, barns, fields, etc. or dairy products related--ice cream, cheese, milk, eggs, cream puffs (the Wisconsin State Fair favorite!), or use your own imagination to honor the dairy farmer. Do you have some farm related DSP or an embossing folder? Chicken wire, barbed wire, farm animals, etc.--please be sure to use that.

I hope everyone enjoys creating a card or scrapbook page with a Dairy Farm Theme! Do you have a farm related story from your childhood to also share when you post your card? We would love to read about a favorite memory.

Have Fun--Enjoy the Challenge!

I have quite a few farm stamps as I did grow up on a farm in central Wisconsin.  This is a Whipper Snapper stamp I got last year and I really like it.  It sure is not a typical WSD, but it really reminds me of my childhood.  We had this exact Farmall M tractor and my dad was always wearing a cap when he worked on the farm--usually red!

I tried something new when making my card. I used a new ink and then dug out my SU pastels to add bit of color.  I tried markers and my blender pen with ink on a few trial runs, but it just did not look right.  I still would have liked the color a bit more muted--but here it is!

Here is the inside of my card:

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you do check out the other June Dairy Month creations from the wonderful ladies in the Crafters of Faith group! The blog list is on the left side--please check out all of the cards.

Calendar Girls Dollar Stamps!

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  Debbie
is our hostess this month and this is what she wrote for us to follow:

As I was trying to come up with a June theme...I noticed the $1 stamps I always seem to pick up at Michaels and never use. So I decided the June theme will be Dollar Days! However, I didn't want anyone to have to go out and buy anything so...

I gathered up the UNUSED and UNOPENED $1 stamps I had and taped a sticky note to them and put them on the table. Then I asked my youngest to mark each stamp with a number starting with #1. She picked up the stamps at random and numbered them for me. So the order in which you replied to my email determines the stamp you get.

Sweet P responded first so she gets the stamp marked 1. April responded second so she gets the stamp marked 2. And so on down the list. (Jeanette, Terry, Linda, Kelly, Barb, Tami and Carol).

The requirements for the June theme are:
1. At least two layers.
2. You must use the $1 stamp you receive on the card. However since the $1 stamps are small you can use background stamps or other stamps to create a background, and sentiment stamps of your own on your card as well. But I would like the $1 stamp to be the focal point.
3. If you have any buttons, ribbons, or other embellishments that you bought for $1 or less, embellishments that were gifted to you, or recycled items, please use those products to embellish the card.

My dollar stamp had three parts--the sentiment and then a set of circles and one of dots.  I kind of went old-school (shhhhhh Jeanette!) and stamped the background with the two stamps-circles in Bravo Burgundy and the dots in More Mustard.  I then punched out the sentiment and use two additional punches to layer it.  Brads and ribbon from the stash, and the card is done!

Congratulations Jack Lukas

My godson Jack Lukas graduated from high school earlier this month and his party was last Saturday.  This is the card I made for him.  I am so excited that JL has chosen to attend UW-Whitewater this fall and he plans to play football for the Warhawks!  Both of his parents graduated from UW-W and I received my master's degree from the university.  The campus is about 30 miles away, so I am sure there will be many Saturday afternoons in the next few years spent watching the games and hopefully seeing JL as the QB!

Here is the inside of my card.
