Best Birds

This is the second card I prepped for the shoebox swap held on Monday at my demo Sarah's house while she is enjoying her Stampin' Up trip to Thailand.  A few of us commented at a class back in May that we were going to miss getting together at her studio as she is gone for two weeks.  I joked that we should meet anyway while she was gone and she said "go ahead".  She even advertised for us in her newsletter--come and join in the "while the cats away, the mice will play shoebox swap"!  So--we did and had a great time!!!  There were five us and we each made two different cards so we came home with 8 new cards.

For this card, I used the stamp set Best Birds and the matching dies.  My background is the Pinewood Plank Embossing Folder.

Here is the inside of my card.

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too!  I cannot wait to see what our theme is for August and Terry will post that today on SCS!

Let Your Light Shine

Here is my July Crafters of Faith card.  This is a great group that my friend Kelly started on SCS. This is our 7th month and Kelly also gave us this challenge:    Let your light shine before others.  Kelly asked her son picked out his favorite scripture and without hesitation, he picked Matthew 5:16.

I inked up one of my newer and now favorite Stampin' Up sets--High Tide.  I fussy cut the light house and beam and layered it on another fun embossing folder from Stampin' Up called Seaside.  I added some Wink of Stella to the beam and the moon.  I also used one of the sentiments from the stamp set and I think it is perfect for this challenge.

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope Kelly, along the others like my card this month!  We are to post between the 7th and 10th of each month, so if you look on my sidebar, you may see other creations.  I know that there will be many posted in the COF thread on SCS too!

By the Tide

This card is for a shoebox swap that I am "organizing" at my demo Sarah's house while she is enjoying her Stampin' Up trip to Thailand. Since we are meeting in the morning of a weekday, that limits some to come, but there are five us of invading, I mean using, Sarah's Studio next Monday!  I have not done a triple stamping card in a long time and thought the "By the Tide" stamp set would be good for a masculine birthday card.

Here is the inside of my card.

Additions to the Family

This is a card I just made for our niece and nephew who completed the adoption of three little tikes--all brothers.  They have been fostering the littlest guy for two years after they brought him home from the hospital.  They then had his two older brothers, ages 3 and 7, visited for weekends occasionally. After a year, they began foster the two older brothers full time and started the process to adopt all three!  There was always the fear a biological family member might take all three, but a week ago, on mom Brook's birthday, they all became adopted and a part of our family!  The three boys joined sister Nayla, who they  adopted a year ago and is 6!  There are also three older siblings, two in college and one in high school, so now they are a family of seven!

I inked up a favorite Paper Inspirations stamp and I love that line of calligraphy stamps!

Here is the inside of my card:

I am sure Matt and Brook will love the card as will the three boys!

Challenge Your Stash

It is the 28th and that means a new post for our group on SCS.  This is post #5 for Challenge Your Stash!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group and the card is due to be posted on the 28th. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Suzy
posted our June challenge--make a card showing off your favorite beverage.  I love lots of different beverages but since it is summer, I decided to choose beer!  This is a new stamp set that I got a month or so ago and I decided to ink it up.  I really do like a cold beer when it is hot outside, especially after working in the gardens.  I think this is a perfect card for my brother or one of my nephews!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards today.  There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUNE.  You might see many cards there is you do a search.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Open Your Soul, kit #4

I am back with my 4th card made from Heather's card kit group.  I was the recipient in April of 11 card kits and I was able to make 4 cards and started posting them on last Saturday  There is no a theme for these kits--each lady sent anything they wanted.  Some seemed to tailor their kits to the month of April and others for images they think fit me.  Thanks Ladies.  I have 7 more kits to make and will work on them this week.  Stay tuned for more cards to come!

This card from kit #4, from Sonja. It was a fun kit with a couple of sweet images.  Sonja also included a piece of watercolor paper she colored with Color Burst along with some die cut butterflies.  I used that great paper as may background and the extra piece inside my card.  I hope I did OK and that Sonja likes my creation.
