Simon Hurley Better Press

Today is the 22nd so this is the Double Duty Day!  This is the 48th month, so we are at the end our 4th year! We will be continuing in 2025 and will have a new member, so be sure to check us out!

Each month, we get to pick a stamp set from a predetermined company. Then, we will use that one stamp set and make two cards from the set.  Different images and sentiments from the same set can be used, or use the same image two different ways—Double Duty either way!  But, as an added challenge, one item must be used on both cards—same color cardstock, same ribbon, same stencil, same something.  Double Duty Again!  We will post both cards on our blog on the the 22nd of each month.  See-Double Duty again!  We will be sure to have fun getting doubly inky each month with a different stamp company.  Let’s have fun!

For December, the company we decided on was Rubbernecker Stamps---this is now called Brass & Biss.  BUT--these cards are now from them as I misread my sheet.  I looked at December for 2025 and that company will be Simon Hurley.  Because these are Christmas Cards, I decided to post anyway.  We will highlight Brass & Bliss in 2025 and my friends who are in this group are very forgiving!

Simon Hurley is an amazing young man who actually lives less than a half hour from me.  He works with a few stamping companies and has come out with some sweet products.  For this month,  I picked a Simon Hurley-Spellbinders Better Press set called Santa's Sleigh.  The set includes the large image and three sentiments along with the matching dies for the image and Merry Christmas. I decided to use my Better Press on both, even though I could have also hot foiled.

I used my Better Press black ink on both of the images and the sentiments. The cardstock is The Paper Cut's 111# Hammered White.  I also ink blended both of the panels with Taylored Expressions ink.  Both panels are backed with a Basic Black layer and mounted on a Cougar Opaque 100# White card base.

For this card, I die cut a circle from Gina K Designs Masking Magic and placed it on the Hammered cardstock.  I then ink blended over the entire panel, first with Taylored Expressions Gumball and then added some Blueberry over the top.  Before taking off the mask, I splattered Dr. Ph Martin's white over the panel.  I stamped the image and sentiment on a piece of Hammered cardstock with Better Press Black ink in the Better Press.  I die cut the image and sentiment and placed them on the panel with foam tape.  I added some Trinity Stamps Freshwater Fish Bubbles Pearls around the image.

For this card, I ink blended over the entire panel,  with Taylored Expressions Salt Water Taffy, Gumball and Jelly Donut on the Hammered cardstock.  Because of the texture on the panel, it is a bit harder to ink blend. I then placed the blended panel in my Better Press and inked the image.  I stamped the sentiment on a smaller piece of Hammered and die cut with a MFT Slated Sentiment die.  I added some Pinkfresh Studio Starry Sky Ombre Glitter Drops around the image and on the sentiment panel.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for our group.  Please be sure to check out the other Double Duty cards. Here is a link to Jeanette'sDarlene’s  and  Carol's blogs.   I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of sets of great cards. AND--they will probably use Brass & Bliss stamps!!!!!!!

Next month we will highlight another favorite, Concord & 9th. So be sure to check out our cards on January 22nd!  And, you will then see a card also from our newest member, Terry!
