It is the 15thof the month and that means we get to show off another Dueling Darlings challenge.
For May, Carol and April are the Darlings who came up with the challenge and theme for the teams this month. Carol is a Diva and April is one of the Dazzlers. The challenge this month is--"Summer". However, there was a twist and we were to make anything but a card--ABAC!
Carol send this cute little box along with our fun kit and I just could not figure out what to do with it. So, I used it as a prop to show you a cute little teapot that we made last week at our Stampin' Up Hostess Club. It uses the Curvy Keepsake Box Die with a layer of DSP over cardstock. A trimmed piece of cardstock punched from the Modern Label Punch is the spout and a matching piece of cardstock is the handle. I think it is so darn cute and creative!
But, back to the challenge. So, I bet you are still wondering what I did create for this month and what the heck the picture at the top of this post really is. Here are two more pictures:
OK--so I really went outside of the box.......................... This large clothespin was given to me by Carol, the Diva's hostess this month. She has visited my house the past two years in the spring and attended Camp Stamp-in-Oga with me. I also invited other SCS friends to my house the two weekends Carol was here and we enjoying making cards each of us created--a mini shoebox swap! Carol gave each of us this huge clothespin to display the card we were working on and it has been sitting on my desk--naked and gray--ever sense!
So--I decorated her up with some of the wonderful papers and awesome summer embellishments that Carol sent in the kit this month--sunglasses, flip flops, flowers, a butterfly--both of them glittery of course! And I also used a huge button with cute yellow ribbon tied in a box--right Kelly?! The image that Carol sent this month is so cute on the top and my new "dressed up card holder" will grace my stamping table from now on and remind me of Carol and all of the Darlings! Thanks for a great kit to play with Carol and I hope I did not stray too far from "anything but a card"!
And--the best part of this story is that tomorrow, Saturday, I get to spend part of the day with Carol in Minnesota! I will be in the area for a wedding and Carol and I have made lunch plans along with some shopping at Anchor Paper and maybe a stop at a fabric warehouse as quilting is a new hobby I have dabbled in this spring. I cannot wait to see her!

Well, yes, Barb... now that you mention it, I was wondering what the first picture was. I'm glad you told us more - and showed more pictures. What a CLEVER idea to decorate that huge clothespin (mine is white and I might need to change that soon.) Love the little watering can you made in class, too - and the "prop" for its photo opp. ;)
Have fun with Carol and give her a hug from me!
This is awesome! What a great way to decorate that clip. Seriously, wish i had thought of that :) And I had to smile at your use of the box as a prop. Too cute. I gotta learn how to make those teapots--what a great idea for our table at ladies tea!! HUGS
Both are outstanding! Love the little teapot and that big clothes pin makes me smile.

Wow! Yes, Barb, I did wonder what that creation was in the first image. How very clever to decorate that huge clothes pin clip with papers, embellishments and images from the kit. And how appropriate and fun that the kit came from Carol who also gifted you with the clip...Perfection! Love the little teapot propped on the box!
So envious that you are spending time with Carol. Wish I could join you! Have fun!! HUGS!!!
I was thinking the first picture was a tower of summer awesomeness! I'm glad you showed more pictures of it! Love!!!!! :)
