Owls and Halloween!

It is the 15th of the month and that means we get to show off a new Dueling Darlings challenge. For the September Challenge, Tracie and I decided on the theme.  Yes, I am one of the hostesses this month!  Tracie is one of the Darlings and I am a part of the Diva team!

This theme this month is: "Owls and Halloween".  Tracie and I have a couple of themes that we considered, but we both like owls and decided to put it along with a Halloween themed card!

I sent my team a Peachy Keen image from a stamp set I have had for a number of years, but have not used.  It s so cute, so I thought it was about time!  I also sent a number of ribbons, orange and black brads and a few pieces of the Night Owl Designer Series paper from Stampin' Up, along with a sheet of a cute Around the Block-Color Me Halloween, which I used as the background on my card.

Tracie and I also asked our team to share one of their favorite Halloween Memories.   I remember when I was young that I talked my parents into taking me to trick or treat in two of our local towns.  We lived on a farm in the country, so no place close to go.  There is a very small town--maybe 2 blocks square--a mile away and I felt there were not enough house.  So, I convinced my parents to take me to the town where I went to school, grades 1-4, which was 7 miles away. That town was also small, but about four times larger, so a bit more candy was to be had!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope all of the Darlings enjoy my card.

Life's Too Short

It is time for another The Three Musketeers post. We are ready to showcase the card we all created with the image Jeanette provided this month for Card #24!  We have just finished two full years of creating and posting these fun cards--and it has been a blast! I am up next for the October challenge and I had better start to think of what to stamp!   Be sure to come back to see what we create!

For our card this month, Jeanette sent out this hilarious image from Art Impressions--a company we all love! I think the image is such a hoot!  We seem to have a silly theme the past few months!  Jeanette ordered the image just for us.  She thought the quirkiness represented the fun we have together.  We ARE a trio of fun loving gals, right?!  I am guessing she also thinks we are not normal--what?  I do resemble that comment!!!!!

In our texting chatter, Kelly said she is the middle chick.  She pointed out that she was not the one showing off her tail feathers.  That one then must then represent Jeanette, as I would never do that!  You will also see I added a border of ice cream cones.  I know of another ending to the sentiment that Jeanette gave us--Life's too short; eat dessert first!

Here is the inside of my card:

Please check out the other Musketeer's cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's blog along with Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards!  They may post today, or it may be upcoming, so be sure to check out their blog for their card!

This is my card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS.  Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. This is our tenth month and the theme for September is "Boys and Their Toys".

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too!  I inked up a Stampin' Up set and used one of the matching Dies by Dave for the bike--love how slick that works!   I cannot wait to see what our theme is for October and that will post on the 10th.

Graduation Mortar Board

This is my card for our every other month swap for a group of ladies on SCS--the SOTC--Sisters of the Traveling Cards!  Pam is our hostess for August and she posted the following: Getting Ready for Gifting!

Invariably I need a card to hold a gift card or even cash for someone special AND we are almost halfway to Christmas! EEK! Please make a card that has an enclosure/pocket/flap to hold a gift card or cash. It can be any theme - birthday, wedding, thank you or even Christmas!
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

I went with a Graduation Card, shaped like a Mortar Board! We made one similar to this, using the same fold and some other stamps, at a card class earlier this year.  I thought I was darn cute!  A bit putzy, but I really like it!

Here is the inside, opened up to the first panel.

Here is the top envie, with a place to put some cash.

Final Card Kit

This is it it--the final card from my final card kit!  I was the recipient of 8 wonderful kits in June and we are to post our cards within two months after our month.  So, this is my last card and I made the deadline--all eight by the end of August!   In this group, we can "request our wishes" and the sends may be able to grant some of them.  I had asked for any patriotic images and papers, so many of my cards were red, white and blue.

This final card is from the kit that Darlene sent.  Darlene sent a number of images from D. Morgan, one of her favorite deisgners and I too love them.  However, I went with an Impression Obsession Lighthouse instead. Darlene also sent great glittered papers and an assortment of awesome embellishments.  This was a fun kit to play with!  I hope I did OK and that Darlene likes my card.  Thanks so much for the fun images Darlene!   I think she sent many seaside type images to get me ready for the Maine trip we start a week from today!
