Glossy Resist

Today is the last day of July and I am posting a set of cards for our newer challenge--Catch-up Club!  A few of my SCS and stamping friends, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry along with myself, have signed up for a number of virtual stamping events in the past 3 years.  One of the benefits of these events are that they are available to rewatch or even watch for the first time at a later date as they are all recorded. The 4 of us "try" to watch live and chat by texting during the event.  But, life steps in and there are times when one or more of us are not participating during the live.  Then, the kits from sponsors sits in our stamping area until we are ready to watch the video and create.  During one of the events, we decided we needed to push ourselves (and each other) to get some of these events done!   So--we all decided to devote one day a month, the last day of the month for the procrastinators that we are, to post cards we missed making.  So--here we are in our 7th month of The Catch Up Club!

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  The cards are the designs of the other instructors from these classes.  I am just recreating the cards from the class. This month the creations are from Sarah and The Paper Cut in Appleton, WIS!

These 4 cards are from a recent card class Sarah did for the Crafters Classroom called Glossy Resist. This technique is created by crinkling a piece of wax paper,  laying it over a piece of white glossy cardstock and then using an iron over the top. Sarah included extra panels of glossy cardstock in our kit and I laid that over the wax paper, so I had two panels to use--the top and the bottom one.  I had a small craft iron in my stash from many years ago that has never been used.  I think I purchased it to "iron" out the wrinkles from ribbon I had rolled over squares of foam board in my storage.  I guess the wrinkles do not bother me in the few times I use the ribbon as the cord of the iron still had the wire holding it together!  We then inked colors over the background panel to get the interesting look.  I used my TE ink cubes and they worked perfect. You do wipe the panel with a piece of paper towel to get off the excess ink.  I used 3 colors on the bison card.  We then completed our cards with the additional materials provided--no stamping needed as Sarah included everything else for the cards!

 

Sarah offers many different kinds of classes through the year and kits can be ordered from their website.  And, there is an in-person class in September where we can make a boat-load of cards.  That will also be a virtual option.
