J-U-L-Y!

Today I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 43rd month of de-stashing-we are into our 4th year of our challenges.  We are to post on the 28th, but I had my A Card A Week Challenge card yesterday.

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Jeanette posted our July challenge--Create a card that includes something that begins with each of at least three of the letters in the word JULY!  Okay........................ I did have to put on my thinking cap!  I figured the L might be the easiest, so I picked Lemon-Lime Twist cardstock and gingham patterned paper from the Gingham, Gala 6x6 pack.  One down!  Then, I decided on Unity for the U and picked this sweet image I bought last summer at Junkie Fest at the Unity pop-up booth called Have You Heard.  I inked up the image along with one of the sentiments with Gina K Designs Warm Glow Amalgam ink. I did not color the image as I liked it the way it is--reminds of me of Guernsey or Jersey cows.  I fussy cut the image and layered under the edge of the sentiment.  For the J, I used some jute twine under the sentiment for a farm-type look.  I was stuck on Y as I wanted to be the overachiever and use all four letters, so Yellow enamel dots are the additional embellishments.  I did it--I used all 4 letters of the word JULY!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days.  Since I am a day late, some might have posted their card yesterday, so be sure to check their post for the 28th.  There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUL.  You might see many cards there is you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For August, Maggie is up.  Be sure to check back to see what we create!

Barb, this is a perfect J-U-L-Y card with each letter represented. I love that cow - it seems so appropriate for a gal from Wisconsin. You did a GREAT job with my theme! Thanks!
